  1. I'm looking at replacing my old Echo Sl Ti freewheel with a 135mm bolted freehub. I've been considering either a Hope Pro4 SS or a Pro 5, are there any real reliability or performance issues with either hub? I've seen that there were a few problems with both models when they were first released, but lots of people seem to use them with their Crewkerz frames, just not heard of any recent/long term issues. i'd love an I9 or a Chris King, but one is too cost is the main reason for discounting these options.
  2. I used to us a thin metal cutting disc or a ceramic/stone cutting disc. Somewhere between 45 and 90 degrees to the rim. Always gave a nice sharp and not to deep grind, although the rim you use makes a big difference to the performance of the brake. Some rims just don't grind well or hold a grind for very long. I always used proper Coust pads on the rear.
  3. Sorted out a tensioner, I used a trialtech lower tensioner with an inspired mount and an adaptor mount I made up so it fits the original tensioner mounting holes. Not quite as tucked up and out of the way as I'd like. But it works and is much neater than what it was fitted with.
  4. Nothing wrong with that, I've just got a new bike too 🤣
  5. Yes Andy! Nice to see you've got a bike again, looks good.
  6. I'm just old! I haven't run a front disc for about 15 years, but I definitely prefer how quiet it is.
  7. Yeah a Tarty tensioner is one option, or I may make a mount and use a crewkerz or similar
  8. Built this up over the weekend, looks and feels pretty good. Just need a tensioner solution, the original Czar/Echo one is obsolete
  9. So you're of the 10% exception to what i said. I mean i'm looking for a new 20" frame, unless I want a Clean or a Jitsie there isn't much other choice right now. Hopefully that changes and some new options come out soon.
  10. 90% of riders are on an Inspired, Crewkerz or Clean bike. Building up your own bike seems to have disappeared, seems people buy full bikes these days. Also if you aren't doing everything to front wheel, are you even riding trials?
  11. Yeah, neither of them are really representing themselves or their country very well.
  12. I've got a Brother CNC stem that I need to sell, it's basically a CNC TryAll K2. I bought some new Hashtagg carbon bars and they won't fit through the bar clamps due to the bars odd shape. My Jitsie bars fitted fine. I'll get some photos if you're interested.
  13. That's pretty poor, hopefully it's a one off and not a mass manufacturing error. I was tossing up between this stem and the clean pro forged stem. Looks like my minds been made!
  14. @Rusevelt The current scandal in the news is a Post Office issue, not Royal Mail. Post Office is government run Public Organisation, Royal Mail was privatised.
  15. How regularly do you go through freewheels at the moment? Buy several as spares?
  16. Some really good ideas there, be interesting to see how they hold up. Would ideal if they made a singlespeed version, looks like it could be adapted to fit a 116/120mm mod rear end too. £550 is a small stumbling block though.
  17. There's a few on ebay for sale that would probably suit you: Adamant, GU, Echo As has been said, anything by Deng pre-08 would be the strongest option - Zoo! GU, Czar, Echo or Adamant
  18. As has been said, if the shop you bought it from aren't helping then get into contact with Hope. Send them all the paperwork you have, emails from the shop, photos and video of the issue, and they will most likely request you send the hub back to them direct. Patience is key.
  19. Fairly certain this wouldn't work. How would the stripped material be replaced? I think you need to wait for Hope to actually see the hub and assess it, or for the shop you bought it from to resolve the warranty issue; it's only been a week or two?
  20. Enjoyed that Alex, was that BFMV? Nice to see Joe and I make an appearance at the end there 😂
  21. It might not be a through crack and is unlikely to allow light to pass through even if it is cracked all the way through. Removing the paint is the best way ahead, visual inspection and preferably LPI to confirm it is a crack in the tube.
  22. Sounds like I9 or someone should develop a titanium axle kit. Would allow the flex without fatiguing as quickly as the aluminium axle. Does seem like an inherently flawed design though, especially so for trials. Not something i'd go for personally, but i do imagine the 690 POE feels great. Think i'd rather go for a Hope or for a mod, a Comas freehub.
  23. Looks like Clean have made an official announcement that there was a manufacturing fault in the heat treatment of the ratchet ring leading to failures.
  24. I did read that the Clean hub has had a few failures already, there are a few questionable design features, the Comas hub seems like a more solid design. High engagement point hubs have been readily available in the MTB world for a while now, like everything it just takes a bit of time for the technology to filter down to the trials world. I'd be interested to see if the new Hope Pro5 hub could be converted to mod sizing.
