Right, off to uni again this year and want a good insurance policy as have now had 3 bikes nicked in total. Last year my halls policy covered me for up to £1000 of bike which was nice, and i used it- but this year my halls have already arranged insurance for the room, and im not going to buy more just to cover bikes- so i want seperate bikes cover. I will be insuring: kona dudu custom build xc/freeride £2500 combined RRP (this wont be going to uni- but i want to insure it) Orange zero trials bike £1500 Combined RRP Possibly a cheap run around, might not be worth insuring it. So who has good cover, and at the best prices?

are these the long or short jack flash's being talked of here, as i woudl love a long one to build up freeride styleee.

Well, got car finished just in time for nicks birthday trip. after 800 or so miles the gearbox has nearly fallen off (fixed), theres an odd squeek (have no idea what it is), cv boots have split spraying grease all over the inside of nice alloys, ran out of petrol when the gauge says over 1/4, so now have to fill up when it says 1/2, half of engine covered in oil as new oil presure sender leaks, nearly killed my batery. Also had a random missfire on the way back form nicks. gotta love teething problems! oh, and the passenger seat is broken. will hopefully be all fixed again soon.

fair enough, i always thought western union was an international bank transfer kinda thing, or at least thats what i read after i thought a dodgy niger was trying to buy something off ebay from me.

The money will go into the account, but the bank will realise its actually stolen/from a fake cheque or something after about a week, and take the money back- which they are allowed to do. bascially the buying scammer uses a fake cheque for western union that take a while to sort out, you have the money already transfered by this point so you send the goods, then the bank finds 'oh, this cheque appears to be fake', contacts the english bank and goes give us our money back.

Considering you are meant to have a better cam than me- theres not a lot in it at all james! RR tune at slarks, only did timing- fueling i would need to find my own jets/emulsion tubes as he doenst have the correct ones. Its perfect after 3.5k on the fuelling, a tad rich below- but only if you open the 2nd choke before then. 98.9bhp (6329rpm /147 mph in 5th) and 104.0 ft/lb torque (4001rpm) at the fly. 70bhp @ wheels. Right, my car is an old mk2 golf, coupld of rust bubles, some dents, scratches, key marks ect. paint not faded, but not shiny- metallic finish. I dont wnat it perfect, but better would be nice. hasnt been cleaned for about a month which doesnt help. Im planign on starting with a good wash, prob only cheap car shampoo- but im not lookign for concourse finsih here. then hitting it with some t cut metallic paint restorer- i presume just a fairly abrasive polish to smooth out the laquer. Then i may touch up some of the paintwork with new paint. Any other ideas?

still very interesting, a bit heavy if you dont have a reasnoble science background from school though, can get confusing. I did seperate sciences, and A level physics so makes a bit of sense to me, but still way out of my league. Plus, star trek's cool

Its all about the string theory and stuff, which i dont remember as much about as i would like- read a little about it. but i don't know if it would be applicable as itsnot directly related to UFOs, although is related to the universe, but is more likely to caus emore arguments. Its basically to do with time and space being interlinked, and not actually constant even though we percive it as constant. this so called space time is made up of strings, and if you join them up in a certain way and can devise a way of traveling along these new paths you effectively 'jump' from on point in space to another instantaniously - which can also be concieved as going nowhere but doing it for a very long time. Also, scientists have current proof that there is something that maybe faster than the speed of light. As far as most people know all comunication is done by EM radiation- light, is part of the EM spectrum. however, is nuclear particle physics if you split atoms down into there component forms- quarks, basons, anti quarks ect, there is one- i can't remember which, that can comunicate with its 'anti' and its instantaneous. if you move it, its anti moves. also, if they come into contact with one another they anhialate each other and dissapear! There is still a lot to discover, and i hoighly doubt our species will live long enough, due to environmental constrictions, and us wanting to kill each other the whole time, long enough to realise our full potential. </rant>

now that, that is very very interesting indeed as a theory. i wont go into any more detail here, as this thread will go WAAAAY off topic, but thanks for putting that thought into my head. I concur with most of whats been said so far- life almost certainly exists / has existed / will exist in other parts of the universe, but it is unlikely that we will see it. Unless that is, space time and string theory and all that crap can be figured out, so distance no longer maters, and niether will time, bringing us back to the time travel thing, which is why i find it interesting.

Go for the bike, unless you realy struggle getting around atm. in a year you'll be after a car anyway- save the money for that.
