  1. Ahh! look at the pic of the chain- the inner edges (chain ring/sproket side) are curved to allwo it to easily bend around gears, the other edges are flat. its to help prevent damge and stuff when grinding ona bmx. In contrast MTB chains are curved on both upper and lower edges.
  2. What do you mean? Im pretty sure the pins stick out an equal amount each side! the head of the pin has to stick out unless its countersunk or somehting Its only like half a mm, but still enough to gradually scrape away your bashgaurd. The split link should be put on a certain way, other wise it will catch on the bash and break- if you have the clip facing inside, towards the wheel all is good, have the clip facing out towards the bash, it will get damaged.
  3. It comes with a split link, whether you use it or not is personal preference- and unless you have a VERY big high qaulity chain tool, i suggest you use it. I wont go into details about this as the whole split link /no split link has been debated to death in previous topics, i personally do use them. You will still need a chain tool to shorten the chain though, even if you do use the split link. It will be fine on that ratio, and fine on stock. If your running middleburns, it may be wise getting your bashguard machined down to give more cdlearance on the inside, mines been machined and the pins are still digging slots on the inside of my bash. When Prawn put his on it was catching on his bashring causing it to be almost unrideable. That was due to burrs though, a file soon sorted that out.
  4. Dont be surprised if its very stiff, if they havent been installed with enough grease/been in there for a long time they can be a right biatch to get out. we had to use a roof bar on the end of a breaker bar once at halfords!

Its lots in terms of what it might look like, but this has had a lot of publicity and it will prob get in MBUK again when its released, there must be aproaching 50 people- maybe more on here alone who are CERTAIN to buy it, many more thinking about it. i reckon 200 will sell through very quickly.
  6. I can't quite see how it 'rots' the seals, it may degrade them quicker, ie they age faster and crack- this is especially likely if the system freezes. However neutral water is, and how resiliant ali is, aluminium DOES corrode, allbeit slowly, and usually forms a protective layer of oxide. Oil in the system helps stop the allow corroding in frictional places, ie pistons. while the effect is very small, it is there. Oil is overall better for the brake. It holds floating particles better- last time i bled an old maggie, the fluid was nearly black with fine aluminuim particles generated by the friction from the pistons, as it has to be a good seal. The oil helps keep this from 'scratching' the inside of the brake- imagine a car engine running with water as oil instead. Again, if you bleed regularly this is not a problem. As far as a shops point of view it is a big pain, as it voids any warranty, and creates more work and hassle. Yes, water feels good in the brake, and if you don't mind loosing your warranty, and loosing a few years off the life of your brake (maggies last for a LONG time before they wear out, unless they break first!) then go for it. make sure you bleed regularly, and use plenty of antifreeze (this in itself helps restore some of the properties of the oil, its anticorrosive for a start). Other wise, i would reccomend using a good thin mineral oil. i use 2.5wt shock oil, and its great. thicker than water, but thinner than maggie blood (about 5wt) so still feels very positive.
  7. If your planning on trying to use it with maggies or something, don't bother as the lever is open, the maggies arent dessigned for an open system, so youl get no end of problems. Its been done with an old hope closed lever though, but due to piston size mismatch, blew the seals anyway. I cant remember if he found mineral seals for the lever, or dot seals for the maggie slaves.

I suppose it depends how its done, if they are all burned similarly to a computer burner (used for small numbers) then its slow and expensive, but if there 'pressed' - there not, but the term is still used from vinyls, they are made in large numbers so cheaper each. Its not economical to 'press' a few DVDs, so it may be worth him assesing interest, as it will be cheaper to get a larger batch done probably. Depends on the company i suppose.
  9. Right, i love firefox, i find it much nicer to use than IE due to the tabbed brwosing and love the blocked popups. However a few little things are anoying me and im sure they can be fixed, but i cant find out how! My firefox used to remember its previous state when you closed/opened it- i.e. if you closed it maximised, it would open maximised, if you closed it a certain shape, it would open like that. It doesnt do that anymore! it always opens in the exact same way, not maximised and with toolbars that i don't want. no matter how many times i uncheck these tool bars and maximise it, when re-opened it comes back how it was. i knwo this isnt the end of the world, but it is anoying to do each time! Ive searched on google, and looked through the about:config list, but can't find anything obvious thatl' do it. anyone got any ideas?

  14. How old are you? 17-25 How many bikes do you own (not just trial bikes) 4 Have you ever had a bike stolen? Yes If yes how many bikes have you had stolen? 3 Do you live an area where theft is an issue? No Do you own a bikelock, and do you think that it provides adequate protection? Yes, i own one, no they are not adequate protection. If someone really wants to steal your bike, they will! I had two bikes stolen from uni in my first week, locks cut striaght though in the middle of the night. Very organised- 50+ bikes stolen that week from the uni, most never seen again.

  18. I will trace the cable into the engine bay, don't really want to dismantle my dash though. No ECU, carbed engine.
  19. Sorry about he repetativeness! maybe i shoudnt have put all the pics up. i only took pics for about 10 mins so thats why there mostly the same thing.
  20. Anyone know what would cause an intermitant odometer on a mk2 golf? Mine stops counting after drving for 30 mins, very strange.
  21. Tis a nice car! shame you live on jersey and go go over 40mph If you ever think of selling, give me a shout! those engines are lovely in mini's! go check out chit chat for pics of most peoples cars.
  22. I have never had a brilliant show from nay cable disk brake ive owned, but i admit i havent owned an avid. I have ridden a few and have been surprised by there power, they are nice brakes. i do find them very hard to modulate though, even when theyve been set up with amazing cables and XTR levers (which brings the price up!) Hopes have almost never failed to impress me! i have one hope brake (out of 8 or more that i have owned) that has dissapointed, and thats a 2nd hand mini which would be fine if i sent it back to hope to get sorted! just had lots of little things not quite right, but i think thats a one off. I also had a mini mono 160 on the front of my XC bike that dissapointed in terms of power, but it was tiny! Derf's brake always blows me away! the power he has out of that 165 mini is silly! Its so clean crisp and still has as much modulation as you need. I have a mono M4 on the front of my trials bike, and everyone says that must be overkill but then love it when they ride it! it has loads of modualtion and isnt actually that bitey, but will lock if needed. i love it!
  23. Ive got an aztec on my hope M4 on the front of my trials bike- much stronger than the new hope rotors (the mono rotors seem very thin) and looks good too.
  24. Rear. It may be slightly narrow for some people- 2.4 instead of 2.5, but its very close in my frame, so wouldnt want any bigger.
