  1. Cheers guys. I'll probably never need to, but at least I should be able to hash a bigger stick in there if I need to.
  2. I'm looking at getting a laptop for uni (taking the desktop overseas might be a bit far). Probably looking around £350 mark, and I've immediatly found this. Thoughts? I know I probably shouldn't, but Steam will probably be going on this, and at the moment I'm eying the 2gb of RAM with some reservations. Can RAM be swapped out in a laptop easily enough, provided you've got the right sized sticks?
  3. Have a read through this thread. It appears to be associated with a USB microphone driver.
  4. Yeah, the reactors can be SCRAMed which in an emergency shutdown procedure. Dunno how long it takes (having just had a look at wikipedia , takes four seconds), but none of the reactors were producing full power when the cooling systems failed.
  5. I believe that the end of 'the' Mayan calendar is equivocal to us reaching December 31st on our calendars. Literally no biggie.
  6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6K6JcAB9T0 I think Japan is broked
  7. The only thing that really annoyed me were the super soldier Koreans that apparently were so hard they could headbutt bullets out of their way and check bullets with their chest. And yes, PR is a brilliant mod. I love how slow and strategical the games can be. It is defiantly a game of patience - I just wish more games would take on board the couple of secs it takes before shots are accurate - at least for snipers anyway. Treating you like a retard here, as I'm sure you're aware but did you turn HBAO off? It really threw the mouse for me, as it does for pretty much everyone. The game's fine when HBAO is turned off though.
  8. I think people in general need to calm down and slow down. Time to share some chill out tracks, nice and relaxed, whether it's electronic or rock, reggae or rap. (Mostly so I can steal them ) I've got a smooth Genius playlist built off this track

  11. I'm afraid you got some of that wrong!
  12. Yes, this sounds just like the kind of situation a swift kick in the tits was imagined for.
  13. I think the main reason is because Activision are dicks
  14. Can't have one of these threads without some Orbital. Especially an Orbital track that sounds like it fits the bill http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ns64xQcLYOg
  15. It's still happening a lot. Just got a stream of those events from this morning when I turned my pc on but didn't use/touch it. Just gonna do a fresh install of Windows to be super safe. It's getting a bit cluttered anyway. Thanks for the help Anzo.
  16. Just started looking at the logs without Steam running. The router wasn't (is now) logging router operations or DoS attacks/port scans, so there's not much to show in that case. The logs atm are fairly straight forward, as I've rebooted the router and it wiped the logs - although I have a copy of yesterday's. But this morning this is what there is [Admin login] from source 192.168.0.4, Wednesday, Jan 01,2003 00:12:00 [UPnP set event: Public_UPNP_C3] from source 192.168.0.4, Wednesday, Jan 01,2003 00:03:52 [Internet connected] IP address: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, Wednesday, Jan 01,2003 00:01:04 [Internet disconnected] Wednesday, Jan 01,2003 00:00:00 [UPnP set event: Public_UPNP_C3] from source 192.168.0.4, Wednesday, Jan 01,2003 00:03:13 [Internet connected] IP address: 80.65.243.225, Wednesday, Jan 01,2003 00:01:04 [UPnP set event: Public_UPNP_C3] from source 192.168.0.4, Wednesday, Jan 01,2003 00:03:11 [Internet connected] IP address: 80.65.242.71, Wednesday, Jan 01,2003 00:00:45 [Internet disconnected] Wednesday, Jan 01,2003 00:00:38 [Internet connected] IP address: 92.39.199.37, Wednesday, Jan 01,2003 00:00:33 [Internet disconnected] Wednesday, Jan 01,2003 00:00:00 [DHCP IP: (192.168.0.2)] to MAC address 70:F1:A1:C8:C8:17, Wednesday, Jan 12,2011 10:34:25 [DHCP IP: (192.168.0.2)] to MAC address 70:F1:A1:C8:C8:17, Wednesday, Jan 12,2011 10:31:18 [DHCP IP: (192.168.0.2)] to MAC address 70:F1:A1:C8:C8:17, Wednesday, Jan 12,2011 10:27:22 [Admin login] from source 192.168.0.4, Wednesday, Jan 12,2011 10:25:35 [DHCP IP: (192.168.0.2)] to MAC address 70:F1:A1:C8:C8:17, Wednesday, Jan 12,2011 10:24:18 [DHCP IP: (192.168.0.2)] to MAC address 70:F1:A1:C8:C8:17, Wednesday, Jan 12,2011 10:19:20 [DHCP IP: (192.168.0.2)] to MAC address 70:F1:A1:C8:C8:17, Wednesday, Jan 12,2011 10:13:37 [DHCP IP: (192.168.0.2)] to MAC address 70:F1:A1:C8:C8:17, Wednesday, Jan 12,2011 10:10:33 [UPnP set event: Public_UPNP_C3] from source 192.168.0.4, Wednesday, Jan 12,2011 10:06:36 [DHCP IP: (192.168.0.2)] to MAC address 70:F1:A1:C8:C8:17, Wednesday, Jan 12,2011 10:04:27 [Time synchronized with NTP server] Wednesday, Jan 12,2011 10:04:21 [UPnP set event: Public_UPNP_C3] from source 192.168.0.4, Wednesday, Jan 12,2011 10:04:18 [Internet connected] IP address: 178.16.3.171, Wednesday, Jan 12,2011 10:04:11 [Admin login] from source 192.168.0.4, Wednesday, Jan 12,2011 10:04:02 [UPnP set event: Public_UPNP_C3] from source 192.168.0.4, Wednesday, Jan 12,2011 10:03:46 [Initialized, firmware version: V1.6.01.34] Wednesday, Jan 12,2011 10:03:33 [System boot up] Wednesday, Jan 12,2011 10:03:33 Can see that at some point the router's lost connection and reset the date/time. There's a few UPnP events originating from my IP (.04) and a laptop appearing on (.02) AFAIK there's no p2p service running at all - the only thing connecting is Firefox, iTunes and Windows Live Messenger but I looked at the logs when these three things were launched and a few mins after launch, with nothing being logged. Although I have just stopped Punkbuster from running in the background, which may be triggering the logs. I'll leave my PC on and see how it goes.
  17. fuuuu Just checked the logs again and the same thing's been happening and Steam isn't running. What I forgot to mention is that the IP address in these events is my machine. What exactly is 'UPnP set event'? Is that a case of my machine d/cing and reconnecting to the router? Or a special request to the router originating from my machine? E.g. allowing traffic directly in/out of my rig? And thanks for the extensive reply anzo!
  18. Just had a peek at my router logs after a few d/cs and saw a large number (100+) of lines of [UPnP set event: Public_UPNP_C3] from source 192.168.0.2, Monday, Jan 10,2011 15:16:54 The reason this concerns me is (aside from not seeing this before) my Hotmail started sending spam early in the morning when my pc was off. Did run a full scan with nod32 which didn't pick anything up Anyone know what 'UPnP set event' is? Perhaps the router's just gone batshit insane? (Netgear DGN834G) Bit of a proper Google search suggests it might be legitimate and caused by Steam
  19. The screens aren't the best - just basic LCD screens which are awful when compared to the likes of the LED screens on the iPhone 4 and Galaxy S. But what kind of problems is he having? In my experience, the Desire is quite a reliable handset. The only definitive weakness is the battery life. Not picking on you But the task killer on the Galaxy is just that - a task killer. It's primary aim is to show power usage on the phone and gives you the extra option of ending running apps. The actual task manager that appears when you hold the home key gives both the option of closing apps and maximizing them. It is fairly standard that all smart phones now work in that way - with holding the home key to bring up a task manager. The app on the home screen of the Galaxy isn't meant to be the task manager.
  20. I've had this thought several times, which is exactly why I'm not being teleported anywhere, ever!
  21. Although the Tesco APNs are locked in, is it not possible to add your own and just select the new ones as preference? Usually just press the radio button to the right of the APN profile in the APN list.
  22. I definitely see where you're coming from, but kinetic energy is only conserved in perfectly elastic collisions - collisions where particles rebound from each other. So if the question was altered to "the bullet rebounds after striking the target with a velocity of x", you'd find that there'd be conservation of both momentum and kinetic energy. Obviously in this scenario, the target velocity after impact would be different to the one stated.
  23. I think it's just because it's not an elastic collision as the two particles come together.
  24. The unlock code is usually supplied by the provider, although I'm not sure if Tesco will give it to you?
  25. Apparently bright red flashing lights aren't enough for some CoD players. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zl5no6vJeFg
