  1. I'm definitely no expert, but 69:1 ratio with a pair of spur gears seems a bit unrealistically high. Not too sure on the parameters on choosing tooth size, but one gear would have to have 69x the number of teeth\be 69x the size than the other one.
  2. Oh shit, yeah. Hadn't noticed Edit: Yes! That's made it a lot clearer. Cheers Rainbird.
  3. Big thank you Rainbird! You've made all the right assumptions as well. I'm pretty sure I'm pumping out the right answer using theta = cos^-1(1- h/r)
  4. Help please! There's a block fixed to the end of a 2m rod. If the block starts hanging vertically down and then travels through a vertical 0.027m, what would the change in angle be? I kinda know what I should be doing, but can't get my head to work.
  5. Definitely becoming blatantly forced.
  6. I do occasionally cook too much rice on a Friday just so I can bang out some good egg fried rice for lunch on the Saturday. Drying it out works wonders.
  7. The integral of xe^2x is ((xe^2x)/2) - ((e^2x)/4) (look up integration by parts if unsure how) which simplifies to (e^2x)(x/2 - 1/4). Then with F(0.5) - F(0) you end up with (e^2(0.5))(0.5/2 - 1/4) - (e^2(0))(0/2 - 1/4)) = (e^1)(0) - (1)(-1/4) = (0) - (-1/4) = 1/4 Edit: Knew that would happen. Hope it's all clear now though
  8. Actually, I was considering arranging four slices of toast into a square and putting several toppings on it. Chicken chunks sounds like a decent addition!
  9. Ha, never claimed it was original! I knew it was too much of a good idea for me to be the first person to think of it - the first thing I did was check the internet to see if there were any improvements on the recipe I had in my head!
  10. There is some hooliganism to it though, as all of those nicknames originated in the club firms that still exist...
  11. Latest snack I dreamt up whilst in bed the other day - pizza on toast. Lightly toast a slice of thick cut bread, apply tomato puree, mixed herbs, cheese + whatever the f**k else you want. Put under the grill and await the best thing since sliced bread; pizza on sliced bread.
  12. The Nokia C2-01 is a decent phone with 3G capabilities. Should be paying around £70 for a new one I reckon.
  13. Listened to the first mix over the course of the day and really enjoyed it. Nice work This thread hasn't gotten a lot of views - you might get a bit more exposure in the make your own music thread?
  14. I just voted no, but then said it aloud. After that, I've go to say it is a word and sounds a lot better than 'more clever'.

    Films!?

Thanks for saving me the hassle! The only films in there that are suitable favourites are the "classic ones". I've come across such wrong opinions and terrible preferences (Although the joking stops when it comes to Final Destination 5)
  16. Didn't even realise it had gotten so late. I only looked at the clock when I realised even the darts had finished. Although I'm not too bothered to be up at this time since I have nothing on tomorrow, it would be nice if I was capable of doing work during the day
  17. If I wanted to forward multiple ports to one device on my home network, say TCP ports 80, 443, 9988, 10000-10100, 17502, 42127. Using a Netgear router, is there any concise way of triggering these ports, or do I literally have to make a service for each one, then a firewall rule for each one?
  18. I get repetitive if I'm anxious about something - it mostly happens when I'm doing maths based work, like coursework or an exam. I'll be anxious to make sure I'm right so will double/triple check everything, even if I'm 100% confident it doesn't need checking (for instance basic multiplication like 1x2, 2x2...), just because I'll hate myself if I'm wrong. I'll even double check 3+8 on my calculator if I did it in my head. I do this with bike maintenance or other practical as well - where I'll triple check bolt tensions or tolerances even though I've just checked it and know it's right. But I suppose being sure's not a bad thing...

    Films!?

This is a prequel to the original film, so it really needs to end with a couple of people chasing the alien with a helicopter - I'm just going to say that now. But I really don't see how they're going to do anything different to the original film. It's a premise that can only really follow the same route the original did. Personally, I'm anticipating this to be a good film to those who haven't seen it and something which is generally simultaneously decent yet rather predictable and boring to others that have seen the original. But I guess we will have to wait and see. *After thought: If there's a spider head, the film is going to be really disappointing.
  20. Record labels are usually the best way to go. I don't personally have an amazing catalogue of house but I'd definitely recommend checking out Cr2 Records as a place to start.
  21. Isn't that a bit early to be back?
  22. I'm here to chirp in that the Galaxy SII is a quality phone. It can feel a bit cheap with the plastic body - although maybe that will make a bit less paranoid about breaking it? - The plastic body on the Galaxy S felt a lot safer / less fragile than the Desire HD did to me, although the Desire HD felt like it meant business in my hand. But when you're using something like the SII, the feel should immediately be forgotten, since the real beauty is in using it - Samsung have done a very good job there, making a very smooth feeling phone. In honesty, the only thing that made me take a Sensation over an SII was the size of the Samsung (and the fact it comes with Swype pre installed). I was looking for a smaller phone, as I feel less prone to breaking the thing on nights out etc, although I think I prefer using something the size of the HD. Food for thought.
  23. First, listen to Muel, then: My amateur diagnosis is either something's over heating or the PSU isn't capable for whatever reason - whether it's faulty or just not giving out enough juice. I'd have thought if the GPU is overheating, you'd start getting artefacting, although I'm not too sure. I'd say the PSU is the most likely culprit. Try a spare PSU is possible, then another GPU is possible and see if swapping either of those fixes your problem.
