  1. Not really an angry post but with RSQ gone... I might have a completely warped view on this so just looking for opinions. My father has offered to sponsor part of my motorsport expenses so I can continue doing something I'm clearly very good at. This offer has stood for years but I've always turned it down because I firmly believe that things should not be handed to me and I should work for everything myself because this is good for the character/spirit/whatever. I can't stress enough how strongly I feel about this. Over the past 5 years, I've always chosen motorsport over any other activities so I'm always short of money. This season however has proven to be incredibly expensive and I'm finding it difficult to cope - had to cut down on literally everything, even food, which in turn has made me rather depressed because I no longer have a life. My dad wants to help, he says he gets a massive kick out of my every win or record, he used to be a rally driver himself back in the days, owned an international license. He's well off and won't even notice the help he's offering me but I still feel it's wrong to accept because it's a lot of money and it's not money that I've earned. On the other hand, I can see his point of view and why he wants to help because he will benefit from this as well. Am I being irrational, should I accept the help?
  2. This is what I heard from a fellow street-trials rider who switched from the Inspired Skye to the very same Because. He says the Because is better both at the street aspect and at trials.
  3. This is amazing. Give it a try. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10q9_pB6unU
  4. Wow, you guys really must have too much time on your hands. He got injured, posted a pic - what's the big deal? *waits for someone to calculate time it took for blood to pour out and dry before picture was taken*
  5. Why are some people taking the piss? I really don't get this forum lately.
  6. Got some clips and onboards from the last comp which was held in a rather boring location (but much improved over the last visit). Very good result, won every single special stage and finished with triple 1st place with 1st overall which included not only Bimmers but also Mitsuboshis and Saburus. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1s4y0vZhksA Only viewable in HD: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfeEA06XxuY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wRQ1AwpF4Y Last clip includes a taxi @5:10. The guy just came over with my friend, was never even seated in a bucket seat before so thought it would be fun to get him strapped in and point a GoPro at him. Unfortunately it was me doing the weird faces, he seems to have enjoyed himself.
  7. A properly set up BB5/BB7 (not sure about the new 7's) paired to an SD lever are among the most powerful disc brakes you can run on your bike. I very much doubt that an Echo caliper paired to lever which might displace an incorrect amount of fluid with the wrong force can do better, even when run on supposedly good brake pads.
  8. We paid for this on a comp today, can't wait to see the results:
  9. Yeah, my motorsport tyre supplier made a joke today that we might be competing on these next year
  10. DON'T bend it back to the original position. You'll crack the dropout at the bend if you apply force correctly, or at the tensioning screw if you apply it incorrectly. Like Adam pointed out, you might want to start by bending it back slightly. Then use an angle grinder if you're good with one or a file if you're not to bring the dropouts back to 10mm.
  11. Anyone up for liking this picture and helping the community out? https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=543985765702261&set=a.543985659035605.1073741848.214789631955211 It's a contest for the cover of a motorsport magazine which writes about amateur comps. The problem is that some girl submitted a rather poor picture of a Civic (a few clicks back and you'll see it) and probably due to a lot of Facebook friends, her pic will win and end up as the cover. There's little time left.
  12. One more question. Should I drain the resevoir before connecting the bleeder? This way new and old fluid won't mix, right? Edit: also, is Motul RBF 660 good fluid or should I get something better?
  13. I'll be changing the brake fluid in my car, mechanic doesn't have time so I have to do this myself. I have a pressure bleeder and have adapted the cap to fit over the resevoir. I'm assuming that this is as simple as connecting the bleeder to a tyre and then in sequence opening each bleed screw with a hose attached to it until the fresh brake fluid comes out?
  14. Pretty good ad for a Hyundai, reminds me of the Volvo Trucks one with JCVD. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xbjdmw8D9-Y
  15. Yep, my personal favourite is 20FOUR. Still listen to it every now and then.
  16. Seen a lot of mental driving in rally vids but this tops it all. How the hell is it possible for a car to drive so quickly on loose surfaces? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ia_1vVDwmkg
  17. I don't think he even knew who commissioned the cartoons The company which made them is called Mother. I should hope he gets a few kegs now that he's found out
  18. Stella Artois made a short cartoon about my dad so proud of him http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HeNORpSqtA
  19. I do feel fit and healthy apart from frequently feeling tired but that's something I've got used to. I've been checked thoroughly for that and the doctor came up with nothing. I believe that's got more to do with inactivity (desk job) compared to when I was under 25 and still at uni. If I feel tired and go out riding, I no longer feel tired. Weight loss is starting to creep me out though and the weird thing is that people who haven't seen me for years and hardly know me are noticing it. With no fat to begin with, where's all my weight gone and why has it gone away if I'm eating normally? Perhaps I have lost 7kg+ of muscles but I certainly don't feel like it. My initial thought was a tapeworm, I do enjoy medium-rare steaks frequently. With regards to calories, I have absolutely no idea... I eat a lot of snacks during the day but also a proper breakfast, dinner and supper.
  20. I think this is already a problem, though it's the opposite of what one would expect from a thread like this. I'm losing weight although I'm not doing anything about it. If anything, I should be gaining weight and lots of it in view of my recent diet (I'm only too happy to visit Pizza Hut, McDonalds and KFC more often). I'm about 178cm tall, used to weigh 73-75kg and had little fat. In the winter I gained a bit (literally a small bit) of fat due to inactivity and weighed 71kg. After working out for a few months, I went down to around 68kg, gained some more muscles and lost a negligible amount of fat. Now I only ride trials around 1-2x a week and today I weighed myself in at 66kg which got me worried for the first time. Muscles seem to be working just fine, there's more power in my riding than there used to be in the best years of my "career" although this might also be down to losing a bike's worth of body weight. People around me keep saying that I've lost weight, usually judging by my face. The missus thinks I should go see a doctor. Is this something to worry about or just ignore? I haven't changed anything in my diet in the past year to make this happen, the only major difference is that I don't use sugar in my tea but sweetener. Then again in the summer I rarely drink tea anyway. Any advice?
  21. I'm not saying you're wrong, I just disagree. I would feel bad spending that money, knowing that it was the result of someone's misfortune (the fact they eventually got it back is irrelevant, they shouldn't have had it stolen in the first place).
  22. Would you actually take it? It seems wrong. Someone's lost something had something stolen, they should not have to pay to get it back.
  23. Car carrier I mentioned in the angry thread has been recovered. For the help I've been offered 2,5k Euro which I've just turned down. Doing the right thing feels like much more of a reward
  24. Wish we had more tracks in Poland, there's really only one... Got some rather different tyres today. Need to raise the suspension, disconnect the ARB's and off we go... (god I love how multi-purpose that car is).
