  1. yes it is, but better vee brake pads would be a more cost efficient solution, lighter than disc too. they downgraded the freewheel to a 30 click from the fricken awesome 60 click tensile that comes on the black + green rig. making it awesome out the box. new hope techs have super bite... now i've addressed everything in the thread... zoots are mint, alumium forks and high quality pads and good chain tensioners should be the priority upgrades. then alloy bars. 's all good after that
  2. removing the alloy from the grinding disc is crucial TNN told me. and so did other posters.. the disc type doesn't make much difference, push hard into the grinder while you grind, move it quickly and always check you havent missed a big spot of sidewall...
  3. borderlands 2 ***. way less stressful... i had black ops and found it boring after 30 hours, i'm 50 hours into B2 and it's still fun...

i've just jumped on the galaxy s3 bandwagon. me gusta.

    Flangeless Hubs?

i've never had any issues, and i'm usually in the mantra of if it ain't broken... but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't be wanting better things. never thought about the spoke twisting, i presumed the end would be flat/shaped or something. i bet it's easier to replace a broken spoke on a straigh pull wheel..

    Alloy Bolts

they're definatley alloy (they're purple) could i run half an half with ti and alloy? or do i want all ti? i wouldn't want alloy bolts holding my brakes, wheels or bars in place. so crank bolts, steerer clamp, star nut bolts, pedal bolts, bottle cage mounts tensioner (if you got a sprung one...) they havent failed yet, but they're holding my disc caliper to the forks, and i don't wanna sheer through them

    Flangeless Hubs?

straight spokes have got to be an improvement, i imagine they will become the norm in premium cycles, not having a bend in the spoke can only make it stronger and easier to product, and lighter?

    Flangeless Hubs?

what about the straight pull spoke hubs? how're they for trials? or do we gotta wait to find out?
  9. grip and glove choice make no difference, you twist the bars alot in trials, i had a break over summer, and my hands have been decimated by riding. just deal with it, let them toughen don't be tempted to pick them. foam grips help to an extent, but i shredded my palm on foamies... just part of the sport i guess...
  10. if it's black and green you're on to a serious winner, they downgraded the specs after that model to maintain the same price... if any noobs search this thread for advice, when you buy a trials bike, make sure its got: oversize bars, isis cranks, a good freewheel, and as many sealed bearings as possible. and budget for sorting out the brakes too. you'll struggle to progress effectively without good brakes and a good freewheel (there are exceptional people who defy this, but the chances are your a normal person, who will take any excuse to not do something, having a solid working rig negates this excuse...)
  11. accurate tagging in the forsale thread would be nice, criteria for wheel size, frame/fork. wheels. brakes. misc. then you could filter a search, make images and tagging mandatory before a post can occur... would be rad!

    Alloy Bolts

hey tf, i acquired a 20" a few months ago, the front end has some alloy bolts in the stem and mounting my disc brake. i've started doing moves to front, i'm not the slightest of people, and i like my teeth. are alloy bolts up to the job? whats the life expectancy of them? or are they mint and better than i give them credit for and i should stop worrying and enjoy the purple lightness?
  13. so many barges. will share my 3 tomorow... my 07 (before:) my 06 http://s135.beta.photobucket.com/user/0gr3/media/orangezero.jpg.html?sort=6&o=75 my little 06 want an old 06 mod quite badly from time to time...
  14. how about getting about and getting down... you can commute, you won't enjoy it, a zoot is better than a tgs machine though. you'd benefit from a shit commuter bike on the side. trials bikes are pure impractical filth.
  15. vee's are mint! had loads of riding time with a vee on the rear, never slip, easy to maintain...
  16. echo sl discs are weird, i used one this weekend that was f**king awesome, but a local rider had them on an echo full build and they sucked balls

  18. re: halfords, i've worked there for over a year now, the avid comment is rediculous most of our premium range use avid. it's not a bad store when you get legit staff in, but we ride a very niche sport and we pay a price for that, home diy *** anyway.
  19. plus it's unfair to call roadying boring untill you've tried it, i was a huge hater on roadying for a long time, then i nailed a thousand miles in a month and i want a 2 grand racing machine asap...
  20. i really liked my zoot! i found a 70x25 stem with trialtech high riser bars was f**king awesome.
  21. woowoo, numbers! i just hope the weathers ok,
  22. i love my thermal tops, it started with compression underwear to prevent chafing... it's like wearing a hoodie and trackies without the weight or restriction. whats not to like? i wouldn't ever ride in just lycra though, thats wierd for trials. makes a but tonne of sence for roadiers or people racing, where everything counts... full lycra for the haloween ride?
  23. big weight savings make a dramatic difference in the way a bike rides. changing chromoly forks to alloy ones is a night and day improvement. alloy bars with nice geo will help too but i don't know the weights enough to say... the only steel should be spokes, sprockets, bearings and bolts, and axles if your a monster.
  24. hey, short notice, i was guna ride leeds on sunday with cockyboy, he's not riding so who's about in reasonable distance from sheffield that wants to play hoppy bikes? come ride here, or i'll come to you, suggestions boys!
  25. no they're rediculously expensive, buy the magnesium sd7s if you want light+stong, it undermines how cheap a bb7 cable brake can be, you might as well buy another hope for that sort of money. the adjutsment on the caliper and sd7 levers is more than adequate...
