What Do You Want To See In Next Gen Trials Frames?
2sixstreet replied to m4rko's topic in Trials Chat
Eccentric bottom brackets. No need for a tensioner and can still use vertical dropouts. -
George St in Sydney late on just about any night you will find trials riders. But this info is pretty useless to you if you live in Darwin.

My front is SD7 arms and lever with a shimano generic teflon lined cable. V-adaptors and Maggie blacks. I dont do a lot of front wheel moves but its a solid setup. You'll be fine with SD7.

Sounds 'complicated'

Nice one, bring it on. Whats wrong with Avril?

By that I take it that wrapping the excess hose around your bars 5 times had no affect on braking performance? Worked as a good deterrent for other people riding your bike though as they didnt want to end up tangled up in it and a bloody mess on the floor. Still dont know how you managed to ride it like that for so long.
-
Haha, I STARTED at 32. Not been riding that long but i'm not giving away my current age. I absolutley love it and plan to keep going for quite a while yet. I do have over 10 yrs of XC and road racing under my belt though so its not like I dont know what a bike is. Good to see you on the straight and narrow.

It may not be a huge loss in performance but the longer the hose the less power you will be able to create at the pad/rim. Hoses expand under pressure which means the entire length of the hose will expand a small amount as soon as the pad hits the rim and there is some resistance (least path of resistance - it would rather try and expand a hose than compress a pad or flex a frame or squash a rim). The longer the hose, the more surface area and the more volume you create for the fluid to go rather than transfer into braking power at the rim. Braided lines are used to combat this since its quite difficult to expand and they maintain their volume under pressure. Its one of the best performance upgrades for brakes on cars etc and the same applies for maggies/hope/shimano/whatever. I think if you have 1m excess brake line its worth cutting and seeing if there is a difference.

Cheers for the replies. I probably should have asked from a comfort point of view as I will be running the same on the other side but they arent symmetrical when flipped over (flip flop). Shouldnt be a problem as lots of guys run different levers left and right.

Are there any problems running HS33 bodies upside down?
-
You would also have less grip and strength. Tyres are predominately black because of what is used to make them which gives strength and grip - carbon black. Most coloured tyres you see are on kids bikes where aesthetics is more important than performance.

RS Components Buy 100 and sell them to your mates. Or cut them down and use them for your disc.

That looks cool. Ti does bend but it also bends back pretty much to its original shape where ali would crack and steel would yield and stay bent until you bend it back. Ti also absorbs a lot more shock which is ideal for fully rigid bikes. As everyone has said the reason you dont see more of them is the restrictive price. It will last forever but not everyone wants to ride the same geo for ever.

Is that just normal cotton? It wont last very long My advice if you really want to go down that road is use Dental Floss. It will last long enough for you to realise you should buy new shoes.
-
Depends how long you will be out for. I've got this annoying thing called work and couldnt get out 'til close to 6.
-
A rim brake brakes at the rim (funnily enough...) so straight pull pattern isnt really a problem as the inertia in the hub when braking is minimal. A disc brake wants to stop the hub whilst the rim/tyre/tube wants to keep rolling - lots of inertia. Straight laced spokes have poor resistance to this and will try and 'roll up' which is bad. I recommend 3x at least on the disc side unless you need wheel building practice.
-
Pretty much what you said, spoke in hub, spoke in adjacent hole in rim. Am assuming this is the front and you arent running a disc?
-
Chase it out with a tap. Or, get a bolt the right size and cut 2 slots along its length with a hacksaw. This will give 2 cutting edges going in and coming out. Also taper/chamfer the end of the bolt to make it start a bit easier.

Bristol Ride Friday 29th / Wkend

Sunday afternoon is good for me. -
The spring is from a dead sora mech The arm fits over the axle and is free to move. There is no way it will ever get snagged. Check it out next time I see you out Rowan and decide for yourself. A pivot half way isnt necessary. The spring is essential to hold the tension in this version. If I go to a frame with no cable guide then i'll make a clamp to suit the seat stay. You can set the tension by the length of the cable holding the spring but it doesnt need much to hold it.

The 3 i've made work a treat. This is the latest configuration. I keep making them because I find simpler ways of doing it. This is a keeper. Now complete with blanking replaceable dropout plate.

Come on Luke, he fabricates a terrible story to try and scam warranty on a frame he claims he broke and you think he's sound? Then he comes out with this gem "Thanks to those that supported me here, glad too see you can admit fault" Is anyone else concerned that Pete now says he's working for British Aerospace? I have nothing against Employers Equal Opportunity but if its true, unless he's the janitor isnt this putting peoples lives at risk? He cant string a coherent sentence together so I cant imagine what responsibilities he'd have. Before I get bashed for bashing him, yes I have had the pleasure of meeting him on more than one occasion.
-
Oh my... So we are thinking he fukd around with it drilling holes in it and then decided to get it sprayed to cover it up? I was sad to see him banned, I really enjoyed people ripping into him on TF.
