  1. The spring hooks into the cable guide on the frame so its not for everyone... Not required if the friction on your quick release/fun bolt is substantial.
  2. I've gone and made another one. Have only ridden a few minutes on it to test it but initial results are promising.
  3. You wont have any problem with double butted spokes. I used to run them on my XC bike and would pull an eyelet before the spoke went.
  4. I should be out sometime after 4. Will give you a shout then and see where you are.
  5. As many people have said, the ball is the natural pivot of your foot, is close to your toes which provide balance and this position gives the best possible control and power. Look at the foot position of professional cyclists (road, MTB, DH, track...). Their shoes are made so the clipless pedals are directly under the ball of the foot.
  6. I thought you'd spot those logs - a bit of fun to be had there. Did you also see the ones in the park near the City Ground? I'm a no-show today due to weather
  7. I'll be there for 12 but cant stay long.
  8. Now that sounds like a plan 50/50 for riding Friday, will let someone know in the afternoon.
  9. See how i'm travelling but if your still out around 4.30 ish i'll give someone a shout and see where you are.
  10. Put the non drive side crank back on but at 180 degrees to how it is supposed to be. It will be facing the same way as the drive side. Put the crank bolt in and do it up. Make sure the bolt is removed from the drive side. Get a car jack/small bottle jack/jaws of life in between and get cranking.
  11. I would suggest modelling up BB and cranks and adjusting the stays for clearance.
  12. Anodising will surface harden the aluminium but this is a good thing. Its essentially an oxide layer produced from the parent metal which can be coloured. Typically used for components that require wear or corrosion resistance (or to look pretty) so not that important for a frame. Theres no negative effects on strength etc.
  13. And could you make me one out of something stronger than paper?
  14. Schwinn bikes went through a phase of only anodising their top end frames and labelling it 'zero weight paint'. So, if you dont want a painted frame but dont like polished/dull aluminium then anodising could be for you. Fun fact for today: Jumbo jets that have a polished aluminium finish do so primarily to reduce weight. Its a lot of surface area that if painted would be added weight which has a significant effect on fuel consumption on international flights.
  15. Have had good service from Tarty. If everyone buys from them then they know they're doing something right and NOT jacking up the prices. Off Topic but why are there so many puppet avatars!
  16. Am also doing Sunday and most likely Monday. If you Trowbridge guys want to come over Sunday I can put you up for the night and then ride Monday.
  17. Tuesday? You smoking crack? I get 4 days off and you want to ride Tuesday....
  18. Sunday and Monday riding are a possibility if the Easter Bunny doesnt bring me too much alcohol.
  19. Aluminium strip, 3 blades, jockey wheel from munched mech, external hard drive case material and screws. Works really well for a total cost of £0. Am building one from stainless once I get hold of some HDPE instead of using the jockey wheel.
  20. My progression was a bit like this in the last couple of months. I could never get my head around side hopping from the rear wheel as a first attempt. - find a low wall/bench etc and slowly roll parallel to it. Grab the front brake, do a small endo. Use the momentum of you coming down to onto back wheel and follow through by lifting the front and then the back wheel whilst going to the side. I found I could concentrate on moving sideways more since the lifting part was pretty much taken care of. You will probably jump backwards as well but this will sort itself with practice. - Next was 2 wheels static side hop. Its easier to balance on 2 wheels if you turn the front wheel into the object you are trying to side hop. Commitment is key and if you bail you will easily be able to dab and save it on small stuff. Just have another go and get a feel for whats happening. This time your balance is taken care of whilst again concentrating on height and direction. - Progression to one wheel side hop was a bit harder but you already have the basics of direction and height. You now need to add balance and control. The way I did it was by accident. I was on the back wheel, parallel to a ledge with a howling cross wind. When I hopped it was wind assisted and landed it. Something clicked and managed to repeat it with no wind. Just need to work on control and increase height etc but well chuffed with progress. Hope that helps getting to one wheel.
  21. Used to run 22:16 but now run 22:18 and find it much better (stock). Same comments as what Monkey Boy said.
  22. I'm up for it. Got a time in mind?
  23. BMX is being included isnt it? I think theres a good chance of seeing trials in the Olympics somewhere in the future.
