It's not just a question of taste. Rough estimate build of corsa... mabye 4/5k? Merc? Shitloads more. It's okay saying 'oh, id rather have a Brabus'... have you got the money for a Brabus? If not then some people make the best (in their eye's) of what they have.

Sorry, but personaly I don't see why the mercs cosmetic changes would cost more than the corsa's. As od404 keeps trying to point out, in essence what's been done to them, is the same thing, grafting on new body panels to change the appearance of the car, plus a set of wheels. If anything the merc would cost less (ignoring the cost of the car to start with) as they have only changed the front bumper and the arch's along with a couple of vents in the bonnet, As opposed to almost every panel being worked on the corsa. Also the matte paint/vinal wrap will have cost a fraction of the corsa's spray job. So yeah, it doe's all come down to taste. Which is fair enough.

A slightly more fair example would be say that corsa, lets say it cost 4k to build, which is extremely conseravative, as they could have happily spent that on the paint job alone. OR you could buy a mint mk2 golf for £1500, spend £600 on coilovers, £200 on 280mm G60 breaks, £300 putting in a 2l 16v with 170bhp, £250 on some eibach ARB's, £100 on polybush's, £600 on some compomotive TH mono's, £50 on strut brace's, £250 on toyo T1Rs, £150 on a head unit and some ok speakers. That's £4k total, and you'd have an awesome little car, I know which I'd go for myself.

*sigh* ok then... 2 of the same type of car, both I'd guess would cost about the same.

Yeh well you don't count because you're a bit of a penis. :P

You'll say something shit now like, "I'd rather have a Saab 95 over that!".

Not at all, one of them is a wanky Corsa.

The other is a jumped up Merc'...

I've heard that too actually... Older mercs were really well made quality bits of kit but it seems modern Merc's are somewhat lacking in the quality control dept. for some reason... Doesn't mean you pay any less for them of course!

They realised that by cutting some corners they could increase profits by a third! After ending up at the bottom of the JD power survey in the late 90s they've been rebuilding their reputation ever since!

And seriously who compared a ST170 or lower to an RS? £25k vs maybe what 5K + mods? hardly fair. Now compare a modified mk1 Focus RS with a standard new RS, that would be fairer. I'd have the mk1 RS every time!

Modified

i mean the older one with seira shape

If it was Sierra shaped then it wouldn't be an Escort Cosworth...

And if in stock form the Focus was better than the Escort (as per Chris's post) then it's not unthinkable to imagine that a modified Focus would still be better than a modified Escort (comparing apples with apples etc)
