Depends really...There is a lot of beautiful areas in the North.

A big misconception is that the cities are grim places; people hear of Liverpool, Newcastle or Manchester and usually think of crime and gangs. Sure, these places do have crime and gangs, but so do many places all over the UK, and the world for that matter. Even the most beautiful places have their problems.

Some places considered 'North' or as I call them 'Midlands' :P I'd rather avoid...I love Birmingham, but I really don't like Sheffield, for example.

Armpit of the UK :P

facts to agree.

Outdated facts :P Its from September 2008, although I agree it would look much worse than that now...however most of the 'high' data on that map are places I wouldn't consider to offer high employment rates anyway - simply due to the location.

This will turn into an South Vs. North thread, but from personal experience, the Northern lot tend to me the most friendly and cheerful.

Yes it is, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Words can not describe how much I disagree with you on that point. Brum is full of morons who can't talk properly and either shoot you or give you a leaflet if you look at them funny (not sure which is worse). Sheffield is full of people who can't talk properly, but at least have a sense of humour ;) There is no one more honest in this country than a true Yorkshireman, fact. BTW, I'm not one if you think I'm being biased, I have just lived in Sheffield for the past three years.

Thats very stereotypical...Im from Birmingham and Im definatly not a moron and most of the people giving you leaflets are people who talk about god and other completly harmless topics. However i do agree with you that some of the people from round here cannot talk properly/want to shoot you but surely every major city has a few minority's like them?

Hmmm, I'd probably grow to like it if I lived there for 3 years - my ex is at uni there and she loves it, I just can't get along with the place. I've been many times both riding, on the piss and just passing through, each time I have an 'ok' time.

I don't hate it, I just don't like it compared to Birmingham, which I visit frequently...although I guess it depends where you go really, both are pretty huge places.

Depends who you know and what you do and what you're into really.

Me i ride trials and play poker.

Pokers on my doorstep, having 2 casino's, trials is abit dim, so if i wanna' ride properly, i have got to go to birmingham for a decent ride.

Find a hobby whilst you're up here, that you're area can accommodate for you.

But to be honest. Stoke's pritty shit unless you're a piss head or a football hooligan.

One person came up to us and asked the classic "have you had an accident, trip or a fall in the last 6 months" to which my friend said "no, not so far" and then while walking away proceeded to deliberately trip over the guys leg and scream out quite loudly. I shouldn't be mean to Brum, I did propose to my wife there so I should at least give it that. Seems to be quite a few vids on youtube recently with BNP members clashing with police and anti BNP protestors in the high street, is this common?

That's absolute bollocks. I could possibly say that Brum used to be like that, but now it's so much more different. I genuinely feel safe walking around Birmingham, and I'd never want to move. It's got everything.
