I see what you were saying with it, but i prefer showing the build in a time line, if you get what i mean.

Personally, i hate seeing build threads where you have to search through how ever many pages to see the build in action, but i do agree with how repetitive it can get when your following the build and i apologise for that .

Should fit a 2.5 quite easily, yh, havent tried it yet, but from measuring up different frames, should be fine

Ah yeah! didnt originally intend on it being a light weight jobbie

All the tubing is 1.6mm wall and after drilling a hole in my dead ozonys and finding it was around 1-1.2mm, i'm quite surprised .

loving the work, that welding looks as good as some frames you can buy too.

I do have two things I am not keen on (though one is just cosmetic).

You have welded the tubes to the headtube before adding gussets? I was always told this was the incorrect way to do them. My understanding is for the gusset to be working as it should, it needs to be welded to the tube (top or down tube) before cut to fit and welded to the headtube. In theory you should be able to drip oil down the open end of the gusset and have the oil able to get on the inside of the downtube. I understand this allows any flex to be spread down the tube rather than being concentrated at the weld.

I am also not keen on Alu frames where the tubes don't meet at the head tube (just ask the guys at Tartybikes!). I do love it with steel frames though and it is just a cosmetic thing, so nothing serious.

but yeah, keep it up, can't wait to see the final pictures!

The welding looks alright in the flesh, its just that i no that i can make it alot neater .

With the gussets, i will still be able to weld them to the tubes, ive just tried to maximize the surface area of the weld, if you get what i mean.

Im going to sand back the area around the tubes where the gussets will sit, so that it still makes contact with the tube, and re-weld it. Just seems a bit weird to me to leave a void under the gusset, but point taken and agreed .

Lol, its something that i really like in ally frames, hate it when the join at the top, even more so when they have about a foot and a half of weld along the two tubes, so im afraid im going to have to say no to that one mr C .

That gusset will be serving a slightly different purpose to one on the top/downtube alone though, surely? That's far more of a plate to hold them together a tad more to compensate for them being 1.483 metric kilometrons apart

The machine needs to have a pulse setting, its all about removing the oxide layer with ally welding .

How much does a reasonable TIG set up go for, I've got a 3 phase socket in the garage for the MIG plant so that's OK and have some basic experience; just fancy a bit of a play...
