...So this has pretty much consumed my life this week. I've been wanting to make a "big" video for a long time now. Upon acquiring a new camera, I had the idea to do a "best of" type video for all the time I've had the one I just replaced. I then went off the idea, but Josh talked me back in to doing it, so I did. It started out as a ~10 minute deal, but I kept finding clips and feeling I couldn't rightfully have clip x feature in it but not clip y, so it gradually grew and grew and... well... it is what it is. Perfect excuse to scratch an old itch As it stands, it's still longer than most people seem to want to watch even though I've been fairly aggressive with the edit to make it as short as possible. If you think it feels a bit disjointed and not really a whole-single-big-video, you'll just have to deal with it, because that's exactly the case I'm not much cop at editing video, but I really enjoy it (hence the project) so it's essentially a slew of mini-videos all strung together. Some people's clips aren't up to scratch with their others (largely speaking for myself here ) but they got included 'cause they were a big deal to said rider at the time of filming. Some of the clips are two months old, and some are a little over two years old. I promised myself I wouldn't waffle so I'll leave it there except for an interesting list (just for the people who like to keep track of who's who, as there's rather a few): Me: Red Jaf mod, 2011 Echo Lite, Spatter effect 2010 Onza Comp (pro paint job innit blud - mostly just looks black in clips though ), Bionic B4S. Josh Leech: Red Jaf stock (maybe it doesn't feature... can't remember), Black Jaf stock, Echo Pure. Kyle Livesey: 2010 Inpulse R26, 2011 Inpulse R26, Koxx Coustellier, Black Onza Zoot (doing a backflip ). Ben Roberts: Zona Zennith, Yabbaa 1499. Noori Brifcani: Echo Control. Cocky: Born Ultimatum, Maestro, Neon X-Ray, Inspired Hex. Paul Ruskin: Raw Onza Limey 4 (and me for one up-to-front), Stantard Onza Limey 4, Echo 24". Chris Hinson: Fans Speed Race stock. Chris Groves: Because Trial 24". Shaun Hook: Zhi Z3 (I think?) Tim Stedman: Pashley. Ben John-Hynes: Ozonys XS26. Adam Thompson: 2008 Neon Bow stock. Jamie Allen: Adamant A1. Sorry Carl - I don't know how I've ended up with no clips of you. The only one on any of my HDD's is the SuperCrash, and that's for a different project Some have just one clip, some have a lot. Making this made me realize just how much more important good riding company is than merely riding. Thanks you guys. Edit: YouTube blocked it, so here it is on Vimeo. It's still yet to convert (currently 13:10, not sure how long conversion takes) but I have to go to work and won't get back 'till late, so you might have to wait a bit yet. https://vimeo.com/57440840 Sorry - 720p only as the 1080p was in excess of 5.5GB.
  2. FINALLY! Haha. Been wanting to see just a plain and simple side-shot for ever. Looks really nice built up. Only thing I'd think about changing is as above - if you're only running one gear, there are much less cumbersome tensioning products/techniques available (ARE you just on singlespeed now? How's the mix'n'match hub performing?) Are they the Spade forks? I never realized how big they looked. Almost look like a modern take on Fatty D's "Stern" is the word I'd like to use to describe them.
  3. Excuuuuse me! I said no such thing. SOME of them are in Morcambe. Maybe all are - I don't know as I've only been the once and certainly not seen all it has to offer. The ones I saw that I know are have made me want to return.
  4. Saw this thread. Saw that you posted it. Got excited about seeing how the Jaf rides. Was disappoint.
  5. Fixed rear hubs with space for more than one sprocket are pretty damned rare these days.
  6. God damn it. Now I wanna ride Morcambe again! Sweet videos - but Sherco's right; the music was terrible Reeeeeally don't understand Gary's sidehops. They look like they're in slow motion. Totally bizarre.
  7. I think he means if it's splined, why can't you just turn the freewheel over. If that's what you meant, you can't do that because the splines aren't the same all the way around. There's a thin and fat one to ensure you have things the right way around that wouldn't fit the other way up.
  8. It's true. Homie can riiiiiiide yo! I see him far too rarely
  9. I've been wondering for a while when/if this would ever happen. So glad it finally has. I normally can't get in to mototrial videos at all - but I got properly latched on this one. It could potentially be down to the lack of engine noises, but never mind. I can't begin to imagine how much skill that takes.
  10. You might still have problems. Do yourself a favour and get a 127/127.5/128mm BB Edit: Forgot to say - build looks swish! Would be nice if you could get some better quality photo's when you've got the crank issues sorted. Chrome hub looks sweet - I hope it works well and you don't have to change it.
  11. I know it's only from my experience - but whereas I've had a lot of problems with screw-in BBs (coming loose, bearing death and dead splines), I never had a single problem with my Echo press-fit one. Could this system be run in one of Deng's frames, or are the diameters different? I'm about to get a new frame made and am currently angling for a BMX/Deng BB shell. If it needs to be larger I might consider asking for that BB shell and run shims and an Echo BB until these come out. Definitely interested to see if they can stand up to brakeless.
  12. That's the worst part... This isn't a folding bike! Haha.
  13. Not really mine Came across it in Oxford today, though it was so special it was worth a share.
  14. I don't object to it being used, but why does everyone bang on about tapered headtubes? If you do it properly (รก la Trialtech) they're plenty strong enough already. I definitely like the idea of catching up with the rest of the world in terms of drivetrains though. It'd be nice if it could play nice with Deng/BMX parts, but if going AS30 means splined freewheels are more likely to happen then I'm all for it. I just hope that a divide doesn't develop - some companies use BMX size, and some AS30. I DEFINITELY want a set of these. Press-fit BB is the only way to go, and I'm fully behind the idea of splined freewheels.
  15. I used to really love watching Vince's videos. So massive, and so sleek. The size is still undeniably impressive, but his style is just f**king gross now. Same with Gilles He was my mostest favouritest, and now his riding is just ugly (even though it's mind-destroyingly large). Fontenoy has gone up in the ranks of compy riders for me after this!
  16. That was sweet Not long enough. Very chilling outing.
  17. Not to mention running a chain I thought the same as everyone else even though I saw it in the flesh just the other day, and it didn't have them on Thought it might've been an afterthough until I thought about just how impossible to run they would be. Haha. Freaky photo angle is freaky!
  18. "Nailed" isn't the word I'd use."Occasionally-fluke-through-them-on-a-good-day" is more accurate Thanks though!
  19. Just need to insert some grammar He's basically saying "if what you want already exists, but without one particular feature you want, what's wrong with getting it made?" And he's perfectly right. These sort of things aren't copying for fashion - they're copying because they're just a good idea. Breath frames are copying Sky 2 frames, but this is using something someone else did for a practical reason - not a bandwagon. It's like saying modern stock frames are copycatting mod's 'cause they've got horizontal dropouts! Or Deng for copying BMX for having press-fit BBs. Or whoever copying whoever first made dropouts with grub screws instead of snail cams. There's been a couple of Jaf frames made that weren't stiff enough in the back end, so these gussets add that bit of strength needed. So I heard all your frames are practically the same because you all have headtube cutouts.
  20. It's a standard BB tool. It comes off exactly the same as any other freewheel - it's just a different shaped fitting. It'll only break if you're doing something seriously wrong.
