So... bought myself an Mx, far earlier than anticipated but it was cheap and very local highlights include a minidisc changer , leaky roof , hole in rear wheel arch , welded diff and a slightly dodgy first gear but apart from that it's a cool little car Jasper Conran ltd edition mk2 1.8 Love how it drives , but makes the Audi feel like pure luxury haha now got to pull my finger out and get the Ibiza through an mot to get some space to work on the 5!

The best one? Why is the 1.6 any better than the 1.8's? I know that the later 1.6 is one to avoid due to decreased power.... I'm looking toward half decent, don't really want something needing a mental amount of work.

So , the Audi is back on the road after another short stint in the garage. £400 later ( garage tried to charge me £700 ) and they've diagnosed a shagged tandem pump and worn out buckets on the injectors. £36 on a Jetta tandem pump and she's back to having a decent amount of power. Since that I've had 3 episodes of the car flashing brakes! In the dash display and beeping thrice when I try and start it. Will start , but cut out immediately. After being left for some indeterminate amount of time it starts fine ?! Weird , anyway, ready to put my faith in it and get rid of the ever faithful Ibiza tdi. As I've got the luxo barge Audi for commuting : long distance / riding car I'm looking to be in the market for a track oriented / fun car. decided on an mx5, after some research thinking nice cheap mk1 1800. (<£700) or maybe the best possible mk2 1800 I could afford (£1200). Any ideas or advice or alternatives ?

Is it possible to set-up a trials bike as a commuting bike?
Alex Dark replied to Bstmn's topic in Trials Chat
It all depends on the bb yoke clearance , Bb length and offset of the cranks. On certain frames im sure it would work. -
04 Magura bodies also.... Won't run anything else

So I've had a nightmare recently with my newly acquired Audi A4 b7 avant. Head gasket / head went and as was bought through a trader have been fighting for 9 months to get him to pay for repair. Been through small claims , citizens advice , mediation etc etc... Ended up with me saving up the money to get it done myself , also did a fair amount of other work to it myself that I was planning to do. Anyway! Managed to get the car going after finding the egr cooler was also f**ked, got it through an mot and it ran faultlessly. Took it to work the other day and only got 2 miles down the road until it died. Started off lumpy and underpowered, got progressively worse then cut out with battery light on. Will not restart now , just cranks. Fuel is reaching filter and hpfp, battery is fine when put on another car and the glow plugs and loom all seems good ( continuity back to the main connector and glow plugs all read the same on a multimeter resistance wise. No relevant fault codes showing , just 4 that are air con related?! Id really appreciate some help, spent many hours after and before work trying to get it going to no avail.

Cross port from The Angry Thread: Getting sick of working on my car at the moment... loads of issues and not enough time. Knocking from drivers side, so went to change drop link and realized lower arm was fekked. Changed that a week ago and no real improvement. Changed top strut mount tonight, but drop link gaiter tore on removal, CV boot split right next to clip and pad friction material fell off backing . Had to abandon car at work, get a lift with my apprentice then will have to spend tomorrow night fixing the above. In addition to that, drivers side rear handbrake isn't working on caliper....is seized up in the handbrake on position, but pads aren't touching disc? Brake works as normal otherwise though. Also, headlight switch has broken meaning fogs are always on ( new one en-route ) and windscreen wipers are only on max, no lower speeds and no return to home when switched off. Spent Saturdays changing the head gasket on my Mrs. nasty nasty little Peugeot 1.4 16v. Fun times were not had, especially as we spent a solid day doing it a month earlier ( had to be redone because my mate pussied out doing the headbolts to full torque haha. Legend for helping me, just shit having to strip it all down again! Feels like I've spent half my wages this month at the local Auto Factors . If that wasn't enough to piss around with, the Audi is still sitting outside my Garage with a fekked head / headgasket that I can't do work on... as I'm waiting on a court date to try and extract repair money from the Trader I bought it from and the car potentially could be called in evidence so I can't touch it Ongoing since early November, and the cars just deteriorating which is so frustrating.
