  1. Would have been ideal if it was the old frame as he only needs a medium (I think)!
  2. My dad has been after a new bike for a few months but doesn't know what to get and has been toying with buying new bits for his catalogue-esque MTB to shave some pounds off (21 speed, steel taper BB, extremely heavy budget suspension, etc...) so I want to get him a bike for xmas. He's really helped me out this last year when I've been short of ££ so thought it'd be a nice surprise but I'm struggling to find something suitable. The spec preferably would consist of 650b/700c, rigid, 9 speed at the back (I'd ditch the front mech to make life easy and save a bit more weight), flat bars, under £300. I've looked around and seen a couple of possibilities, this Boardman at Halfords for £349 though the tyres look a little to skinny (will be used mostly for canals, bridleways, etc) or this Triban 500 at Decathlon for £260 though it's 3x7 and slightly heavier as a result. Any suggestions???
  3. I think you need to put more effort into researching what market you're trying to sell to
  4. You need to machine the headset cups down, that'll shave a few more grams off

Proper gore fest when it gets going!

    Films!?

If you like 80's style comic book b movies (is that a genre?) then you should definitely see Turbo Kid. Loads of violence, blood, top synthesiser soundtrack and a pretty fun watch!
  7. Water on the pads won't have ruined them, sounds like the wd40. Get some Jitsie or Trialtech pads on there, you won't regret it!
  8. Fight the power Dave, fight the power
  9. How much is a steal?? Having a small change on one of my bikes which required a TB's purchase, something about buying Stan Ti bolts just fills me with joy!
  10. Have you had a look on Pauls Cycles? Some good deals on there (though I have to admit to knowing nothing about mtb's!)
  11. This sounds like part of the problem also, bleeding with water won't affect the seals like that. It'll probably need bleeding properly, maguras seem to be a bit of a minefield when it comes to regular bike shops nowadays as most don't ever seem to deal with them (my cousin has a drawer full of magura fittings and spares he said I'm welcome to anytime as he literally never ises them) but then I'd still get some new pads to compliment it. If you look on YouTube there's a guide to water bleeding brakes somewhere (anyone care to link as I'm on my phone?) or I'm sure Tarty bikes have a guide on their site.
  12. There's your problem. Ditch the standard pads for something like some Trialtechs or Heatsink yellows and if it still isn't good enough then give the rim a grind
  13. At my wifes, cousins, sons christening. I probably shouldn't be posting in here but it's a massive show of how much money he earns, we've come for food in a pretty non child friendly bar in Hale (rich b*****d central) where part of the 4 course meal waiters are bringing around a bit at a time consisted of plates with 3 types of steak (big plates mind) and lobsters! I've seen at least £200-250 of lobster go back to the kitchen uneaten . On the plus side it's a free bar (his banker workmates have been on Grey Goose vodka cocktails all aafternoon) and I've smashed two whole t bone steaks and about 6 bottles of lucky buddha lager so far.
  14. I feel this will only inspire him more!
  15. C'mon guys, beggars can't be choosers!
  16. Now the wife has gone to bed eBay has been abused once again, front and rear valances from a 4motion on the way so I don't have to chop a hole out the standard one for the exhaust to sit in
  17. Seriously rough on the bike nowadays, don't really touch either but thought I'd have 10 mins after talking to a friend at the gym this morning. Could really do with setting a decent course to ride up but I struggle for room and the fact the grass is usually like a marsh! More practice required, preferably on the streets with some decent walls/ledges to jump up.
  18. Just get Echo TR rims but buy front rims for the front and rear.

    Films!?

Man Up was actually a half decent British chick flick, San Andreas was alright if a bit OTT. I've got Terminator Genisys (spelling?) to watch at work tomorrow night but I'm not sure I want to as it doesn't appeal to me like the old ones.
  20. I think the last clip I saw of Ed Tongue was on a Sprung Video Mag (which I had to remove from YouTube )
  21. Did you forget about that?!
  22. New phone is go, just ordered the new Google Nexus!
  23. Car is lowered, not entirely sure how much though the front can't be more than 40mm as the ARB would be catching the driveshaft. Rear is quite a lot more as was 30mm lower before I even adjusted it. Also got chance to wash it farm style, pressure washer plus traffic film remover represent!
