  1. rim designs like that always annoy me. wouldnt putting the spoke holes on the other side make the wheel much stronger?
  2. First proper static gap to front today, followed by my second, and third, and fourth, until cramps in my hands. SO happy
  3. Finally static gapped to front today, so happy! :D :D :D

      Congrats, it's a tough one.

  4. Well i didnt have to pull any cash out of my pocket, so it didnt feel as bad box was £100, clutch was £40, so you cant really complain at £140 overall!
  5. its got 11 months MOT on it, might as well run it into the ground. The gearbox went last weekend, didnt cost me a penny to replace as my old man owes me money Definatly looking into replacing it when the MOT runs out. theres ALOT of difference with the polymount. Changing gear, even harshly, you cant feel any engine movement. That with a new clutch makes shifting lovely. The only downside, and its a big downside is the vibrations when idling. The whole car shakes to bits. Im hoping that the bush will bed in and soften a bit, its bad
  6. Bit of Saturday work to my car: Car on axle stands, famaliar sight! Straightning up one of the gearbox linkages after bending it changing the gearbox last weekend. The gearlever now sits straight! Old and new gearbox mount! Thats the second standard mount ive destroyed. New mount in place, looking shiny!
  7. You can use either. using domed washers just allows for more adjustment if your fork mounts arnt 100% straight. As long as the pads hit the disk squarly
  8. Urbans can be very hit and miss aswell.
  9. Talking to me? Thats the main thing i wanted to check, alot of the drivetrain for my citroen is different to the petrol version. (driveshafts, brakes, springs). Not bothered on shape, to be honest just looking for something that is tidyier than what im driving and has a bit more poke. I drove my mates 1.9tdi a while ago, and remember short shifting from 2nd to 5th, and after a couple of seconds it got on the turbo and pulled like a train. Not too fused on having the correct spring rate to be honest. I used to drive a classic mini, im used to discomfort Like i said, driven an A3 before, the only gripe i had was the amount of body roll. would only really be looking to slap on a set of tidy alloys, drop it 30mm ish and reduce the body roll.
  10. Properly a question for prawn, thinking of keeping my eyes out for an A3. would have to be a soot chucker for the amount of miles i do, and not really looking for a quick car. Question is, is it easy to come across uprated suspension, as i dont know if the diesels run the same suspension as the petrols. Cheers
  11. Thought manafacturers bench bed-ed in new engines?
  12. He isnt saying ride it loose. He's saying that when installing cranks, they take time to 'bed in'. So when you innitally tighten them, they are tight, but after some riding they wear into the splines and loosen off. At this point you should beable to remove the crank without using any crank puller tools.
  13. I think he means that the arms pull in un-evenly. (but then, i dont think anyone truely understands him ) You need to adjust the tension screws appropiatly. tighten the screw on the side that touches the rim a tad, then try the brake. Keep doing this until they hit evenly
  14. unless im being a complete moron (which im sure ill be corrected if i am ) one cup is left hand thread, and the other is normal thread. So you cant put the left cup in the right side and vice versa?
  15. The cups are threaded differently, you cant put it in the wrong way
