A street trials bike is better at dirt jumps than a dirt jump bike is at street trials....if you see what I mean. (In my limited experience) I'd recommend you find a second hand street trials bike.

I don't really know why but I love it. Keep thinking my ashton needs to become blaaack again...

What's the thoughts on spacers like these? It'd worry me that aluminium is not really strong enough to secure wheel bolts.

Battery keeps dying (within 6 or so hours) and I've also got a drop in power. An alternator fault (bad diodes) seemed obvious because it would explain both issues, so I've done some testing but the results showed no unusual current draw from the battery. I'm thinking a new battery will be the best place to start. However, I've never known one to die so suddenly... And as for the power drop, if the alternator is fine then I might be looking at a vacuum leak, but the gauge doesn't indicate any loss in vacuum. Ihavenoideawhatimdoing.jpg.

Liking the Audi. This thread can never have enough boxy 90's metal. Not sure if I posted pics since it was lowered, and yes I realise it doesn't look lowered at all. I remember some discussion about gawky rear ends many pages back, Beat this! I have no idea why Volvo decided to put that bend in the exhaust.

Unfortunately he's not that local, pretty sure he's about 15 or so miles away, somewhere in Glasgow.
-
I stupidly gave him a bmx to play with for a while, but he has clearly just taken it home and I don't know where he lives. £200 down the drain basically. I helped him out on several occasions, and this is what I get in return. Unbelievable.

I trusted some guy I've spoken to a few times with one of my bikes, but he never came back. I am a complete idiot.

Nice, looks similar to my ET I still can't decide whether mine needs paint on it or not....
-
I also badly need spacers, but typically for my car the only useful ones are £200. I could get thinner ones cheap, but they'd be a bit pointless and not very safe (because less threads for nuts). Very sadz. On the plus side, I ordered those adjustable Gaz dampers so I can't wait to get those on and do some skidz.

Always enjoy watching those. REALLY REALLY want to ride now.

Traditional education like college isn't for everyone, perhaps you'd some find motivation in an apprenticeship?

σ = y F L / 4 I So 8.84 MPa I think... EDIT: oops I worked out max bending stress rather than moment 2nd Edit: I think max bending moment is actually quite simple for this simple beam. M=FL/4 -> 300KNm I think....

How the heck did you do that Danny? I find silver wheels are impossible to change the colour of in photoshop, unless you just took them from an existing image? Any chance you could you give my volvo gunmetal/anthracite wheels? (sorry to hi-jack)

For my car I was quoted £80 excluding VAT and carriage per front insert with adjustable rebound, and £55 per rear with adjustable bump and rebound. I just want rears, so that beats getting the Bilsteins rebuilt for £80 each! EDIT: I still need to get tracking done after lowering the car, but I have a feeling I'm just going to be told to buy new track rod ends since the current ones are so rusty.
-
Found out today that it's relatively cheap to get custom adjustable Gaz dampers made up, so it's bye bye knackered Bilsteins.
-
Ha, trust him to be where the party is. I'll be doing my best to replicate such chaos when the exams are over!

When you say it caused the body to vibrate, could that be a result of the teeth not meshing properly and creating a sort of driveline shunt? That would be the same experience my mate had, his car would sort of jump from one position to the next because the teeth were getting jammed/grinded.

I was just amused by how ruined it was. It must've lacked oil for some period of its life, because that's not normal.

Why do I have to set up my HS33 pads so close to the rim?

What lever and blade do you use? I had this problem with the 2011 lever but not with the '05 lever. -
Just to fill you with hope , here's my mates E36 diff: Good luck! Can't wait to hear about the Capri ventures Skoze

Someone might pay a few quid more than scrap value for it. Maybe depends how much tax it's got......

Cool, whereabouts is the spot that appears at 11sec and the end?

There's lots of fun rocks like those in Torridon if you ever happen to be out that way. (as long as the tide is low, and the weather is good) Whilst I'm here, is it BAE that your Combat Systems Engineering job is with, if you don't mind me asking? I'm just scoping out various engineering jobs at the moment.
