  1. Apparently Chris Harris landed a new show on BBC America, with no plans to air in UK. Disappointed!
  2. It has been ages since I last had money to waste on cars, so this little package makes me happy. I kinda messed up though, the steering wheel is a good two inches closer than standard, feels way too close.

    EU Referendum

Wonder if Tata Steel could benefit from this. I know they were planning on pulling the plug a while back. I think I'll set about learning a new language.
  4. So happy to finally have a half-decent mountain bike. It's a fairly low-end bike in the grand scheme of things (Vitus Nucleus 275 VR), but it rides great. MBR gave it 'the best hardtail of the year under £500', so I knew I couldn't go too far wrong.
  5. I need me an mx-5. Does the extra "chassis bracing" on the post '94 model have any real impact?
  6. No problem, how about one of those JD special beers when they're done?
  7. Not perfect. Have you got a particular font for the numbers? The problem with trying to match a font for all four handles is that the 'outline' of the number needs to neatly fit inside a circle...
  8. One of the reasons I still ride my Aorta.
  9. It's a very similar change but it sounds like softening the front end would be a tiny bit safer than stiffening the rear. Not sure if damping changes will help a great deal but might be worth a try.
  10. You should obviously spend that money on an even bigger turbo
  11. I can't figure out how the exhaust would cause chips in that position. Just put the 740 through an mot. Despite a gaping hole in the floor (right against a jacking point) it only failed on high emissions. 4.83 CO Luckily the limit for an old car is only 3.5 so fingers crossed some fuelling adjustment will do the trick. I'll leave the hole in the floor until next year
  12. I was a bit 'meh' about moving to Dumfries for my new job but I've just realised that most of the 7 stanes are nearby. Time to save up for a reasonable mountain bike! Anyone particularly want an Aorta 26"?
  13. I would also hate to be beaten by an old Volvo Kudos for getting your cars sorted out, especially Sam. Mine doesn't run at all just now!
  14. This is why I still haven't installed some bushes I bought a year or so ago.
  15. Kinda wish I'd looked into Deliveroo rather than starting back at Dominos. A 1988 Volvo is not the most economical delivery car, but that's my own fault. I have an interview tomorrow for a position that appears to require someone completely different to me. This could be interesting.
  16. I'm a fan of that g3 paint renovator stuff.
  17. Transferred stuff from my old 940 to the 740; lowering springs, front anti-roll bar, strut brace, underbody brace, dual rear anti-roll bars, and the "quick steer roll correctors". Just needs poly bushes. On the original springs it was sitting stupendously high, much better now. The front has settled a tiny bit lower since these pictures. The handling is hilariously unmatched to the power. It's so slow but at least I can carry speed through corners now. @Adam@TartyBikes Do you happen to have some small blocks of nylon or similar that you could turn on the lathe, and a little bit of spare time?
  18. Quite likely! I had a strap around my battery that only allowed a few mm of movement. They failed it on having an insecure battery. My car life is real boring just now because no employment. I did just install lowering springs, but the result was really disappointing. Need to chop the springs like a true pikey. On the plus side, I do have a pretty cool garage setup going on. It's a communal warehouse full of old cars and projects.
  19. @weirdoku I think it will be one of those things where you are supposed to but nobody will know if you don't. I don't think the dvla know who has insurance and who doesn't. On the other hand, it's super easy to do, I think it's just a few clicks on the website IIRC.
  20. I know right! But you've just reminded me of this and now I miss it, damn you!
  21. I'm not sure what your revised logo will look like, but I suspect it will make a decent difference in comparison to that clinical looking name. I feel like something that breaks up the background a bit would look good, maybe a simple stripe top and bottom in a slightly darker tint than the main background. I have no idea what I'm talking about
  22. Good thinking. Axle seems good. Trying to tighten the QR while pushing the wheel over doesn't really seem to do much. Filing the dropout might allow it to move, as long as I can get the QR tight enough to prevent it from moving back over time. Frame might not be totally straight. It's quite old, Aorta 26, 2006 I think. Might just do a little bit of filing bodgery.
  23. More tension on the NDS just brings it back over to that side. Sounds like it's kind of inevitable with this setup then. It's a 26" rim on a chris king classic rear hub. It's JUST clearing the maggy pad on the NDS, so its usable but not ideal, if it was any closer I'd need to use offset mounts. Might be able to get more out of it by rebuilding it with grease and alloy nipples. Doesn't feel like the original builder put any grease on the threads. Cheers.
  24. As usual, I've loosened the spokes on one side and tightened the other side to dish the wheel. However the spokes on the driveside are now super tight, despite the spokes on the other side being relatively loose, so I can't achieve any more dish. I'm trying to get my head around whether different spoke lengths would actually help or not. I'm thinking there's not really any more that can be done. Thoughts?
  25. What did he tweak on the fuel system? I'm on good old K-jet just now, but it needs some cleaning/tweaking.
