  1. I did say before that I would come in whatever I'm driving at the time, but honestly I might be driving the slowest of slow things so I'm undecided at the moment.
  2. I like my intercoolers...erm...well lubricated. Really hoping the new turbo and cam make it breathe better so I can make use of the fresh tarmac at Driftland.
  3. The new "new content" feed kind of dulls the experience by letting you see people's posts immediately. I like to use the "condensed view" so that I still have to go to the effort of opening threads to see what people are saying. And I'm pretty sure it doesn't show everything, like if there's been a bunch of posts in one thread it sometimes only shows the most recent one, or am I being silly?
  4. Sold an old school Blaupunkt car stereo for more than the new Sony one cost me. Sweet. Only took me about 6 hours to wire the new one in Also getting brought in to work a few hours at my old job on Saturday because they feel they need me for something, which I guess is nice.
  5. Quit stunting until it's fixed. You'll most likely be luckier than me, but my dodgy knee has never totally fixed itself. I think it's been 5 years now.
  6. Called them a few weeks back. They said all I can do is try and get him to call the helpline himself because they can't do anything without his consent. He refused. There's specialists in the police force who are trained to deal with such people if they get out of control. I probably should've called them long ago. Crazy thing is he was kept in overnight by the Police the other night (after the neighbors called the Police due to him screaming non-stop) and they must've deemed him to be ok the next day. He definitely wasn't ok! It's hard to feel bothered about him after what's been going on, but yes I should probably try to explain to the Police that he needs help, since they are the only people with the power to deal with him in the first instance.
  7. Past 2 days have been rough as hell, topping off a rather strange month. Flatmate went crazy and decided everyone was against him, including me. He's been going crazy for weeks (with schizophrenia). I tried real hard to keep it together and remain friends with him knowing that he was suffering from mental health issues and that I was possibly his only friend left but at this point he is only able to see me as an enemy, and things were getting out of control. Time for me to gtfo. I've spent the last two evenings moving out. Need a break from life right now!
  8. Damn, Driftland is hard work! The tight techy section doesn't suit a big Volvo, that's my excuse anyway. I bumped into a huge curb but I think everything is ok. The turbo is pushing a good amount of oil past the seals (even the idle control valve was pushing oil out ), and the power steering is still knackered, but everything still pretty much works so a successful day in my mind. Might have to swap out that turbo though. Also considering changing the front tyres because the two times I've been out drifting the weather has been good, and I'm on rainsports. No video this time, the camera angle was poop.
  9. Good point, I can see how it looks like understeer. In that picture I'm in the cross-over section of the figure of 8. It does look clean in comparison to most of the other drift "missiles" that were there. But it does have quite a bit of rust. Very happy with how well it slides. It's way better than the Sierra we had for a short while. The Sierra needed aggressive clutch kicks and would understeer like crazy, but the Volvo steps out nicely by just hammering the throttle. I'm planning to try Driftland soon so that will be more challenging.
  10. Finally got the diff welded and tried my hand at drifting. https://youtu.be/wYujaSp93w8 Looks so gonky in the above photo Didn't crash, nothing broke. Success. No idea how youtube embedding works on here now...

    New Hashtagg

I'm a big fan of clean simple designs, like the speedrace fans. A lot of modern frames look messy to me.
  12. Fitted dual rear arb's before my drive up North. They work well. Some pics from the drive: And now the car is undergoing a little weight reduction for drifting events. Just need to get the diff welded and then we're good to go! Very excite.
  13. Not too familiar with fwd Volvos but you might want to look on volvoforums.org.uk to see if it's a known problem. Just vibrations and not any strange noises?
  14. I accidentally stumbled upon that meet in Aberdeen whilst staying with friends. Unfortunately I was with non-car people so didn't stick around but it looked fun. I've just been speeding around the Highlands doing the western part of the North coast 500. So so good! I think TF should come up here rather than go to Curborough.
  15. My zee caliper broke with no damage to the adapter. I think jumping backwards and landing with the brake locked is probably something to avoid.
  16. Hmm, very sensible but I give that decision about 1 month...
  17. Because owning 2 old Volvos is clearly a good idea when you are unemployed. Went on a 9 and a half hour bus journey all the way to London to look at this last night and then drove it back today. Think I must be a little bit mad. It's far from perfect but does the job. I know it seems stupid but eventually it should become something very fun, but for now it's a daily because the other one is starting a new life as a drift wagon.
  18. Buying old cars has still become slightly more expensive, because the prices haven't really dropped despite the lack of tax they come with.. £400 seems amazing. I might be acquiring something tomorrow, we'll see.
  19. Last day at work today. I don't even have another job lined up but I'm cool with that, I need a change of routine and I've been saving up for such times so I'm sure it'll work out. I will however be a full time student for a few months so that'll keep me busy.
  20. Wow, another highly unfortunate event. Gutted for you.
  21. On the other hand, it's quite annoying when you live in the Highlands and have to put up with the fighter jets roaring around like it's their playground.
  22. I wondered that as well. My prices seem to be about £100 or so higher than last year.
  23. Ouch. Good luck, it would be a shame to get rid of it with the work that's gone into it.
