  1. Yeah, front rim will be the next purchase and guna mod it so it looks like an sl front rim as I'm buggered if I know where to find an echo one. Frame came as part of a swap with the breath stock I had. Rides lovely perfect fit for me, kinda streety with the bars rolled back but still does tgs nicely too (been a long while since it's been ridden now though ). Geo - Wb - 1070 (measured by me with 415mm c/r +40 off. Forks) Bb - 66mm (60 is the because stated geo) Cs - 373 mm H/a - 71.5 Can't remember the reach though, prefer it to the echo 24 I had think that's down to the longer cs making it a bit lazier. I'm already wanting a raddix... Think they're still avalibe from China if you want a new one. I'm a big fan of DD mods, but they feel too small to ride for me The rim was a slag to get smooth! Took ages to do, those so's are made of strong stuff and the grind was long dead too. Might order a front rim and some files in a bit... Matt black is the perfect ghetto colour, easy to paint With too you can't get it wrong Yup as below xt, side on pic of the caliper? If anyone has an xt caliper for sale let me know I have to have a matching pair of those bitches, but they're getting hard to find now and only ones I find are unreasonably priced examples. Good bite, but they fade bad iirc not something that's going to bother me on a trials rig though. Have thought about some new levers the tr's are rock solid when you pull the brake hard, gives some nasty pump
  2. so everything went a bit dd recently took like 3 weeks to paint the rim, rebuild the back wheel and redo the hosing...6 day weeks at work are shite anyway here's some pics of the poorest quality, only time i had to snap a few and it was pissing down outside so the light was toss. by far the nicest looking wheel i have built to date, very pleased with the way it came out
  3. I went for the 70a, super soft and work bang on but they won't last all that long. then again I can make 36 pairs for the price of some refills off of tarty.... thats the route I was going down, just need get the rest of it black now... a win for us both then that swap yea did all the bits that are black now over 2 days, easy stuff to work with matt paint and you don't have to do loads of prep too. stealth is the way forward.....10 million would do me fine
  4. yeah, the ones I made are far better than the cousts I had before. what shore did you go for? resin or a pre cast type block thing? paint has given her a new lease of life, looks better with a consistent colour scheme too how's the breath doing? can't help but think it'd look superporn matt black too haha
  5. 24 is the way to go dude, just a shame i ain't rode for time was thinking of selling then decided to paint it instead haha certainty is mate, serving me well
  6. cheers dude, to be fair its the only one I've seen too hahaha cheers again came with the swap for the breath stock I had, have been looking for a front one. and found nowt will prob get a because front and file it 'till it looks like an sl front... and cheers again I made a mould so it came out as a rectangular type thing, cut it in half and used a wet Stanley blade to get the recess shape (stabbing my finger pretty well in the process). they could do with gluing on though the ends peel out of the backings a tad, think that's down to how soft they are though. they are a lot softer than the cousts I have but my creations work way better haha even on the long dead grind
  7. yeah, so here she is...might have gone a bit mad with the rattle can matt black, but I like it needs a few bits to finish it off, like painting the sl rim but didn't see the point as i'm after a pro 2 on the rear and going to give DD a go, and getting a new front rim too so it'll all be painted up once I get them bits. my fav bit is the pad backings, think they look shit hot matt black also they are some of the pads I made myself too if anyone knows how to get the tpa screw bit out that would be helpful, I couldn't figure it out and didn't want to break it so it didn't see any paint either...its on a bit of a wonky angle too as I filed the bit the contacts the lever body to get the lever further away from the bars. if anyone is interested in a spec I can stick one up, before I forget what parts are what with the logos being history haha enjoy people!
  8. http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/product/43392/Zipp_Carbon_Headset_Spacer says avalible to order, should be a few days I'd guess. all the things I've ordered from there have only took a short while to arrive, but I live 5 mins away so its not too bad for me to wait. or just go for a 3mm or a 5mm one they have some other carbon ones on there for £2.40
  9. thank you washing machine....where the f**k is the rest of it?
  10. ahh might have to get me some of that, or some of those glass bubbles haaha aubergine is a nice colour...not just because the escort cossie came in it can you get metallic colours? was thinking you could mix a bit of paint in it or food colouring maybe? only colours i can find are the same as refills want them to be a different colour haha i got some blocks if you want 'em? you'll need to cut the backing shape into them though
  11. would look nice with a black bar and stem dude where did you find the super tacky swampthing? would love to get a super tacky and slick it haha reckon that would be beasty. just a shame all the dh 24 tyres are 60a crap ybn mk747 it's on TA as an echo branded chain, not sure i could trust one of them...not after i managed to twist a link on my 710 with my chicken legs haha edit : http://www.trialsaddict.com/special-offers/echo-sl-1-8-chain.html
  12. think 1 post containing those images was more than enough hahaha
  13. despite speedrace making some of the prettiest bikes, they also made this howler....white stickys top off the beating with the ugly hammer this so clearly had. looks like it was made by a visually impaired person that normally deals with light rigging, this is a winner/loser whichever way you look at it imo. how it looks from the side
  14. i asked this same thing a while back, tried it and all i found was it had a bit more rolling resistance. no other benefit than that, but it was a super tacky high roller so grip was never going to be an issue anyway haha
  15. tried looking for an old xt 4 pot? they're like the grandaddy to the saints, had one when i was running tt forks...would still be running it if i had +20 mount forks, was hands down the best disc brake i have owned (not privileged enough to own a saint ) but it defo kicked the ass of the tr/hope setup i have now and the current setup is bang-on!. *oops, I meant a mono mini caliper in my previous post*
  16. the 180mm (+20 caliper) is shit hot with a tr lever on the front of my 24. running a formula rotor and clarks organic pads if that makes any difference
  17. pigment as in colour? was looking at it but they only had the same colours as pad refills that are on sale, if i was going to add colour it'd have to be something different....might get some black though, want to get everything else sorted before i start fannying around with aesthetics you looked into powdered metal additives? remember looking at one that increased the amount of friction and improved the wear life too, buggered if i can remember what powder it was will have a look see if i can't stumble across it again haha
  18. had this exact same issue with the echo when i had mine, could never get it to feel quite right. i had a 165x35 and rockman carbons (probably similar reach and height to your setup) and that felt a bit 'off', tried a 150x30 and it rode rancid...could never get it to feel just right no matter what i did. guy i ride with has a 165x35 an tt highrise on his echo 24 and that feels better than the setup i had, currently running rockman highrise and a 165x35 on my because simple 24 (pretty close geo to the deng just with a longer cs and few mm lower bb) and that feels bang-on to me only thing i miss is the extra sweep my older bars had, but the highrise kick ass. what is it that you don't like about your setup now? too high? too low? not enough reach?....ect.
  19. anyone have worn (gunna slick 'em) 24" rocket ron and fat albert tyres they want rid of?

if you have one milling around I'll have it mate, if you could have a look would be cool :)

better in the dry, horrid when moisture is involved though. tyre also deforms better with no tread on it, seems to have a it more spring to it too...based on the schwalbe space i butchered haha slicks look the shit too.

    3. ashleys sugden

      ashleys sugden

aha cool, i might try it

go for it! but with some old/spare tyres haha. rounded profile of the tyre is nice too

  20. mine measured 48mm x 7mm x 4.5mm (18mm x 11mm for the recess bits) an the heatsink backings i got in the post yesterday are the same only the central bit of the recess is 10mm not 11mm think they're all a tad different, which is lame haha
  21. I need to make a blank first, otherwise I'll end up with pads with like 5mm life in 'em haha sounds like a fail-proof plan though
  22. so if i made a blank, fired it then if i took a mould of the blank (after firing) it would be the same as the blank was before it was fired? think that makes sense, if the shrinkage was the same during both processes it would work it's self out...
  23. yeah, just having a 1-ipece pour-in mould is going to be the cheapest/least hassle approach. was looking for fillers/powders additives before and found a page with it written nice and simple as to what powders did what, some increase the amount of friction and some reduce it...so you could use a harder compound shore, add an additive that increases friction an you'd end up with the equivalent of a softer compound once its used as a brake pad? still trying to work out what would be the best material to make a mould/blank from, starting to look a modeling clay it's easy to find and to work with, then it can be fired in the oven at home...good idea?
  24. once I've got a mould sorted I'm going to make as many pads as I'll get out of the mix i have, so I'll have a few spare that I wouldn't mind sending out to someone for a second opinion in return for the same. any thoughts on pouring into a mould then (using a 2-piece mould) applying pressure to it while it cures (poor-mans way of trying to replicate injection moulding)? i'm guessing all the other pads are injection moulded, curious as to if there are any other benefits to the material's performance or if its a costing/production time reason.
  25. the ones i made are pretty damn good on a dead grind, the pads i linked i've run on a harsh grind in the past and they were savage but they did wear fast though...but if you're making your own pads its not that much of a worry, just bang some more on. advantage of buying it in its 'finished' state will probably work out more expensive, but you don't have to worry about air bubbles and making a mould or mixing ect. to everyone - are we planning on posting different compounds to each other to try? would be nice to try different compounds without having to buy more haha
