  1. thought thats the boat i'd be in, the rm carbons i have are bang-on other than not having enough rise now i'm on a 24 again. seems rockman have come a fair way recently too, stepping into the carbon fork game....they need to put a disc mount option on the stock ones though yeah the tt's are a safe bet, just want to avoid having all the same stuff on my bike as everyone else. guess it's take a punt time, i'd rather have a bit of variety on my bike parts wise.
  2. so i'm looking into getting some bars with bit more rise, anyone tried the rockmans? trialtech are the safe option, with 1* of sweep and like a gram between them on paper they 'should' feel pretty similar to ride. the last alu rockman bars i had (silver rockbars) were a bit on the floppy side, it used to do my head in...wondering if the new ones are best avoided too. which would you go for? ideally someone will have some rockmans and can comment on weather they're any good or not. cheers chris
  3. well, this happened.....will get its own thread once it's had some new bits
  4. products on there are the older ones, but if deng was using stress/strain analysis on 3d modeling software then, he probably is now.... http://www.echobike.com/ click the 'design' bit on the left. also you mention that manufactures should put an estimated usage time info with their products (a warranty kind of gives you a clue), this would be pointless.....something would last me a million times longer than the same part would last damon for example...... i'd rather see a topic like this with a description of how long they lasted and how/what they rode, if they lasted 6 months doing chasm style drop-gaps and suffering a multitude of bashing then i'd draw my own conclusion from that...
  5. rc nitro car fuel stuff? i used some and it did the trick, loads of shitty black grit and gunk came out of it too. just filled a tub to submerge it, left for a while then re lubed thought the same about the rotation direction with the tyre, but if its a super tacky grip won't be an issue.....mine has loooooooads of it no need to want for anymore
  6. 24" tgs frame....who got one cheap?

  7. my 710 hasn't stretched a whisker since i put it on, but in theory a wider pin width chain will have more flex than a narrower one....so a 710 will be weaker than a 610. but with impacts, a wider chain would distribute the force over a bigger area so a wider chain will cope with more abuse in my way of thinking. but chain vs wall is never going to be good haha and bits of wall between the link plates of the chain will mean lots of wear too. but so long as you don't knock any of the outer plates off the chain when failing it shouldn't be a major issue, unless you don't replace chains often enough for the wear to be a factor......impacts will weaken the chain too, but if its such a preoblem you could mod a chorrilas disc protector thing to the drive side and use it to shield your sprocket/chain from any offending walls. never think about cracking your sprocket from failed hops?
  8. think i tried than with one of the first wheels i built and it didn't end up round! haha. problem with doing it with the wheel in your lap makes it easy to build a bad egg or flat spot into it, and you don't see it until its built and on the bike
  9. what method are you using to put tension in the spokes? with the wheel in your lap? i tend to lace it up and put it in the frame/forks i'm using (no tension in the spokes at all), then using a zip tie as a guide, spin the wheel and tighten at the high spots of the wheel (easy to spot as you give it a spin). tightening the nipples a little at a time you end up with even tension in the spokes by the time it's nice and round
  10. because it was different and looked cool as f**k..........in 1999
  11. they can also do a 'charge back' too, its in the email notification the paypal will have sent you. never experienced one myself, but if you did i'm sure paypal would sort you out if it was uncalled for
  12. i saw this for saw on pinkbike a while ago, personally i wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. but didn't the effect come with 26 maggie mounts on the forks too? also not aware of Ashton ever being affiliated with orange myself and the frame's tubing doesn't look like and orange, i guessing it would look more like a zero if they had made one...... it could be just another one of those 'inspired mods' though
  13. shiny, shiny skye! looks lush you sir are brave to start hacking brake mounts off such an expensive frame good choice though.
  14. sweet build! like the green, including the rim tape don't like the front qr and the echo sticker though.... is that a funky ass bonz bash too? i'd also lose the booster, but that's personal preference
  15. they also 'predicted' people being run over when crossing the finish line by a fat guy with a balls shaped chin....... things can just be a coincidence or badly timed, like the guy who was writing a novel about planes crashing into the twin towers. as far as i'm aware he was in no way involved despite being in the hotel right next to the towers when it happened.
  16. i interpreted your comment as you were assuming that tarty would do a price match with the china ones at half the price, hence what i said. according to the echo dealers list, there are no authorized china retailers.
  17. looks to me like the bash mounts are still on there.... edit - looks like he painted it with brush-on hammerite.
  18. i don't....i love it  . the notion of the whole thing is plausible, but the 'evidence' that is used to prove the existence of it (Illuminati) is hilariously rubbish. but do link me, i just woke up from a power nap and could have a giggle. is that collage of pictures suggesting they are fake movies prop legs? pic of the severed limbs looks legit to me, its a bit disheartening to see something most likely created by some douche spouting hate about the 'zog mercenaries' and using a poorly fabricated story to generate some hate towards the government......
  19. he looks like he's clearly in shock (both physically and mentally) to me and he doesn't look too composed either.....wheelchairs would have been every where anyway for knackered runners and all, makes sense they'd put him in one. given the state of shock he's in he'd probably survive a short while before receiving any medical attention, especially as that cowboy dude looks to be pinching one of his arteries. as with all conspiracy theorys there is no 'concrete' evidence, that's why they are conspiracies and people look like wackjobs when they talk about 'em. i'd normally sway toward the 'conspricies' side of events as they tend to hold more water than a political version of events. that said this is exaclly the kind of thing the CIA would do, after all they are in place to protect the country's interests not the population....people would be collateral damage to a bigger picture. but i think they would try harder than pressure cooker bombs my self, that's more the aryan brotherhood kinda thing imo. also your approach is terrible hahaha it's like you're screaming sheep at everyone for not jumping on board with you.
  20. anyone else think 7kg is heavy for a full carbon bike, i thought it would be lighter? i like it, i'd have one if someone bought it for me.......but the price is mental! there will be some small print some where that will say something along the lines of "we reserve the right to change any products/prices without prior notice" meaning they just hooked you into the site with a good price.......like this - http://www.trialsaddict.com/hubs/rear-hubs/non/chris-king-135mm-hub.html or http://www.trialsaddict.com/special-offers/echo-26-sl-forks-2011.html oh wait, they aren't in stock so you can't buy them at that price.
  21. hahahaha https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=268050969996866&set=vb.100003758943186&type=2&theater
