  1. You are gonna mix and EQ that....right? What's most important is that for each instrument you need to 'carve' a sound in the frequency range for it. So the bass you EQ/mix it to a suitable level, then slot in the bass drum slightly above the bass frequencies you're using and it'll stand out more. Synths like the one you've got in that sample (mostly FM or subtractive with lots of highs) and distorted guitars always conflict so whichever you're looking to have as the most present needs to have the higher frequencies EQ'd slightly above those of the lesser instrument. Panning in an intense track like a dnb track will help things a lot too. Have the kick, snare and crash all set to centre, then move your hats (use two, or have a half-beat stereo delay) to either side. If you're using some decent speakers, sit in an equilateral triangle with them and you'll be able to pick out the subtleties in your panning technique.
  2. A friend of mine received a phone call yesterday saying her friend had been found hung in his bedroom by his brother. She told me about it today, and me being a COMPLETE idiot just copied one of these Bridgend jokes to her on msn! I honestly forgot about her mate, and now I feel like SUCH a f**king cockend!!!!
  3. Bugger, sorry. I didn't see the 'Canada' part.
  4. I was 13 years old, had been with the girl for almost a year (wtf) and my dad arrived to pick me up from her house no more than 3 minutes after i'd stuck it in her. That sucked.

  6. I really enjoy reading Dean Koontz's books. The Odd Thomas trilogy is brilliant.
  7. My parents won just over £10k a few years back.
  8. It'll be fine, it'll just run a few degrees hotter than it did before. Stock heatsinks are notoriously crap but if you didn't have any heat problems with the previous processor it won't be a problem now.
  9. If he's not passed his full test, it's 14.6bhp he's restricted to, not 33bhp.

  11. The miniscule powerband on an NSR125R i rode 85 miles today had me laughing. Although it was a lot more fun and rewarding than riding 85 miles on my 600. I can't ride the 600 to it's limits on the roads whereas the 125 I was, which was a lot more fun and had me laughing out loud at some points!
  12. Ooh I lied. It's 0.16in at the thinnest and 0.76in at the thickest.
  13. Don't forget however that you have to spend another £65 to get an (external) optical drive. I do like it a lot otherwise though. It's funny how they claim it's 0.19in thick and will fit into a standard Manila envelope. However it's 0.19in thick at the thinnest point of the laptop, which is at the edges and the rest is 0.4in thick
  14. If it synced to his PC and then added music after deleting yours, you can't get your tunes back.

  17. If you can stretch to it, go for a Pearl Export kit. They're cheap but good quality and versatile. Most dealers chuck in a basic hardware kit too, so that'll save you some dolla.
  18. Put one aside for me, i'll buy it on Friday. Top bloke
  19. That's really awful! I hope he is found safe and sound. My thoughts go to his family.
  20. Get yourself a hold of Reason 3 (not 4 cause you wont find it pirated) and have a play around on that. Any decent tunes i've ever made have been on there, it's pretty much the easiest sequencer i've ever used.
  21. I once attended a Currys interview wearing a t-shirt with a picture of a blender on it because I couldn't find my shirt. I thought it was the next most appropriate item of clothing. The point of this story is: make sure you know where your shirt is, and don't attend the interview wearing a Rolls Royce t-shirt.
  22. Don't get the Western Digital MyBook. I bought one last week, it was £75 for a 320GB model which is fine by me, but it's quite a letdown really. In the pictures it looks all swish and sturdy but the build quality is piss poor, and the case is made from plastic instead of brushed aluminium like you'd expect it to be. My WD Elements drive I bought a few weeks before that (250gb, £45) is much sturdier.
