This thread is simultaneously hilarious, infuriating, brilliant and concerning. Keiran, go and speak to a teacher or someone who understands maths, like a relative. I don't think the forum is the best place to try and learn maths, it's pretty confusing the way everyone is writing things (it's hard to write equations on a PC). This isn't as hard as you're making it out to be - you just need to go through it with someone and everything with fall into place. Alternatively, keep going and I'll grab some popcorn.

The first and last bits are easy. Second bit you need to use s= ½(u+v)t which I think you've got. The extra working out you did (45-18=27, 30/27=0.9*) works out the acceleration (although you've done it kph/s which is likely to confuse matters) and isn't really necessary - it just adds another step. You could however calculate the acceleration in m/s/s and then substitute that into s= ut+ ½at² to give you the distance over the middle part of the journey (262.5m). *30/27 doesn't equal 0.9

SDG Bel Air. I think they're fantastic seats/saddles for the money. Loads of various models / colours / weights but they're all the same shape which seems to suit me. The other one I've tried and liked was a Charge Spoon - a bit wider. They're nice and cheap (£25 ish for a steel-railed one).

I don't really remember any Raceface product that was actually... good. I really don't care when a company that makes mediocre products goes under.

Take it to a bike shop. Fitting headsets is hard enough when you DO know what you're doing. And you don't (seriously, you can do harm to the frame so don't take that risk)

Um. Does the suspension even compress without snapping the chain?

Sounds like you made the right choice. For the record, I never said you couldn't put massive forks on a hardtail - just that massive forks on an XC bike will make it feel rubbish. I know the 456 is sort of designed for 4/5/6 inch forks but for most people, 5 inches is about the limit of what you would want on a hardtail. In some cases, less is more. I ran my Pikes on my DMR for a bit, and the bike feels much livelier and more fun with the travel wound down a bit. If you want something to hammer down hills without troubling yourself with things like line choice, get a full sus.

Sometimes your browser will strip the .exe suffix so you don't run something potentially malicious. It can be really annoying for exactly the reason you've found. If you rename from "minecraft" to "minecraft.exe" it should work fine. I guess you've already figured this out though?

Can anyone lend me their account details so I can try it on my PC? I don't mind paying but my computer is 6 years old and I have no idea if it'll run. PM me pretty please. P.S. The first person that sends me their details - choose a member of the forum you don't like and they'll disappear EDIT: Never mind. I managed to get it working (offline) and it runs far too slowly. Probably for the best

Yeah there are ways around the problem I suggested - but all of the ones suggested involve going into the app store and downloading another app - Hardly an elegant solution. It's just an example, basically what I'm saying is the way that we use PCs / smartphones can be massively improved/streamlined. Have a look at what Apple is doing in Lion (the next version of OS X) - basically massively simplifying file sharing, about time too. http://www.9to5mac.com/53899/mac-os-x-lions-airdrop-in-action-tests-instructions-and-video/

It should be OK. You can probably check if your TV is HDCP compliant. But if I were you, I'd stick with playing bog-standard DVDs in the xbox, unless you're planning to buy a bigger TV.
-
I'm not sure if all discs require HDCP. Also it's possible that it will allow playback in standard definition but you wouldn't be able to access full HD without HDCP. Which you wouldn't notice on a small TV. I'm sure it's an issue in some cases at least because if you buy a graphics card for a PC, it has to have HDCP if you want to play Bluray discs.
-
No, I *think* the content is protected with HDCP so you need at least a HDMI or DVI input on the TV. But yeah, I probably wouldn't bother on anything less than 32" or so.

Are you sure that frame will take 160mm forks? It seems like an awful lot on a hardtail... To answer your question, a friend of mine had some Shermans. They felt OK, no major problems with them. But they are a big fork.

Who cares what freeride means. I wouldn't use them on (what most people would call) a freeride bike - I.e. 7" travel park bike. P.S. Get a proper bolt through front wheel. It really is so much better.

I've been quite impressed with my Pikes, would recommend them or buy some more. I think RS have made Revelations 150mm now so they're probably worth a look. Anything heavier than that (Domain / Totem / Lyrik) is a bit overkill on an XC bike. Depends how much you want to spend - for the money, some pre-07 Marzocchi Z1FR or similar would be awesome (£150 ish). They're simple, buttery smooth and aren't really complicated enough to break. BUT they are very heavy for an XC fork. The quality control went a bit shit for 08 but it's supposed to be a bit better these days, though the prices have gone waaaay up recently. I wouldn't discount Fox straight away - they make probably the nicest-feeling forks out there. They can be a bit high maintenance, but servicing isn't too hard by all accounts. I've seen some amazing deals recently on CRC and on-one, keep your eyes peeled. A brand new set of £600 Fox floats for £300 is likely to be better than anything you'd get from RockShox for that sort of money. Like this: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=49298 It's almost worth buying a 1.5 headtube frame for...

Will home computers ever reach performance saturation? I mean, once an iPad has 24 hours of battery life and can play 1080p movies whilst editing a Word* document, what's the point in a desktop? Who knows what new technologies will come. For me, the next move is ultramobile, completely connected, possibly cloud storage or just better networking. Despite a mountain technology, I find it irritating if I want to put a picture online: Take the picture on my phone Copy to email app, send to myself Go onto PC, open email Save photo upload photo link to forum. It's stupid - we can interconnect devices sooo much better than we do at the moment. I'm still a believer in the "home PC" - I.e. a desktop-sized unit that sits under the stairs and holds a load of storage, whilst controlling audio / TV / heating / lighting etc to the house. Your tablet would run a desktop but all the processing was done under the stairs.

There's no way I'd do a season in Andorra. Think of it this way: Your season is going to cost you £5-6000, and you can either pay that by working beforehand and dossing while you're out there, or work whilst you're there. Doesn't really matter. BUT if you're spending £6000, the extra £2-300 for a flight to Canada (as opposed to France or something) is soooo worth it. If you're feeling dead exotic, go to Japan. Plenty of snow there. This is based on no real factual evidence about accommodation costs/job prospects etc. Just the fact that snowboarding in France involves 1 day in 7 in fresh snow - the rest of time on icy groomers - whilst Whistler got over 2m of snow last week.

I only seem to play gun game now. I've been setting myself challenges - Try and get as many knife kills as possible and still win. My current record (on a public server) is 29 stabs (53 kills total). I'm quite proud of that but no one I know IRL seems to care...

Does anyone play gun game on BlackOPS?.

Atoms. Or ions I suppose.

Are all the doors / boot / bonnet shut properly? My car does a similar thing if the boot is slightly ajar.

OK, I haven't released a video for a while, but I've been gradually saving up footage so I've had quite a lot to choose from, pretty happy with how it turned out 2 mins 11, 68Mb Enjoy!

Most courses are 5 years of medical teaching. I took an optional two years of pedantry. Circumvallate papillae are a normal part of the tongue?

Out of interest - if you "do it right" as much as he did - I.e. 20mm or more, can it really shrink down to being almost invisible again? I doubt it but I'm curious.
