  1. Also anyone NOT using Quicksilver really needs to get their think pod examined, it's the best piece of software for any computer ever. Apart from that I don't think there are any must haves for me. Just Office, Mail, VLC.
  2. Those shoes wouldn't look out of place on Ziggy Stardust...
  3. There are some well dangerous-looking lines on the roof of the hospital near me. Totally stupid to try and ride because they're like 50ft in the air. But look interesting. Or on the news in the ruins of Basra or something...
  4. If you're just learning (especially on dendex/snowflex) it's a lot easier to turn if you keep ~75% of your weight on your front foot. But that's not really good technique technique and you don't need to do that on snow. It's just a practise thing though - eventually turning will become second nature and it'll feel just like you're leaning forwards and backwards, transferring your weight from heel to toe and back - with equal weight on each foot.
  5. I just read this. Seems like pretty strange rubbish advice to me. Your weight should be central on the board, 50-50 between your feet. Otherwise you'll be twisting the board when you're trying to move from edge to edge which makes it much harder to turn. The only time you ever need to lean back is in deep powder, if your nose keeps going under. It's piss easy to turn in powder so you don't need much weight on your front foot. Also, you're much less likely to catch an edge if you bend your knees. Or at least, if you do catch an edge you're less likely to crash if your knees are bent and you can compensate. As a complete beginner you'll catch edges all the time because of poor technique, but as soon as you get a bit better you'll only catch edges when there's some slight undulations in the snow or something to catch you out. This is when bending your knees and keeping relaxed and fluid is doubly important.
  6. I've got quite a few mates who I ride mountain bikes with, who are mostly DJ or DHers and they always go on about how trials looks really daft. I can kind of see their point though. When the world champs was at Fort Bill this year, there was XC, DH, 4x and trials. The XC, DH and 4x were genuinely exciting to watch - both for joe public and anyone into mountain biking. Whereas if you watched the trials, you'd see some guy (probably in a lycra skin suit) hopping on the back wheel for about ten seconds before jumping up a pile of palettes or something. It looked pretty boring and pointless - As evidenced by the amount of TV coverage it got on the BBC. 20 seconds in a 2 hour program? When the public only sees this side of things, it's hardly surprising that trials looks a bit... dull. On the other hand, you only have to see the amount of views for that Danny Mac video on Youtube (over 1 million last time I looked) to see that trials can be really good to watch.
  7. I want to weigh my bike(s) properly now. Can anyone recommend a set of scales (digital preferable I suppose) that are good? There are loads on eBay and they mostly look cheap and rubbish, but can anyone recommend a certain eBay shop?
  8. I'm sure you can get magnets strong enough no problem. My Uberorbs will stick through my hand which must be at least 15mm. What's it for exactly? Sounds... illegal?

    Storms

Que? I'm in Manchester and it's well sunny out of the window now. I rode my bike into uni today and it was pretty windy but nothing to worry about it. Since then it's been fine. I can't believe the 'news' of our rubbish weather has reached Australia. Especially when there are places around the world with actual things to worry about, like hurricanes and tsunamis and sharks etc.
  10. Haha, that video's ace - It's from DC's Mtnlab 1.5. Couldn't find that clip on youtube when I wanted to show someone, so nice one for finding it. Apparently Ken Block (the guy who owns DC) just has a massive playpark in the snow with a private park, skidoo things, MX bikes, rally cars. Why aren't I on the DC world team?
  11. I love Snowboarding, can't get enough of it. Yeah but it doesn't even compare to the real thing. 100 metres in a metal box in Leeds compared to miles and miles of pistes with trees and features and views, and oh my, I want to go snowboarding again. Also when Cas is £30 a go for a couple of hours, it's almost cheaper to go for a week in France somewhere. You can do it for under £400 for 6 days in the snow. You know it makes sense. Tea

I like a good cup of tea, but I do prefer coffee. I'm quite fussy though (I hate instant coffee) so I end up drinking more tea. At least 2-3 cups a day

    .,

I have hypermobile shoulders and probably ankles too. It's a bit of a b*****d. Not much you can do really besides strengthen the muscles/tendons around the joint, which you are doing by the sounds of it. Maybe adjust your riding position/bar angles to make it easier on your wrists if possible?
  14. UCI have a minimum weight limit (6.8kg) which is quite easy to reach apparently, so any lighter than that is really a bit pointless. You may as well make a frame that's heavier but more aerodynamic/stiffer/more comfortable.
  15. £17 but I know there's at least one more order I've had with them that's not on there. It's been ages since I actually bought any new trials stuff. It's all second-hand.

    Injury Advice

Yeah, going to see a GP about a non-serious sports injury is going to be a bit pointless 95% of the time. If you could see a physio or someone they could probably help, but they're not usually free. There's no harm in asking here, is there?
  17. It's tendinitis. I had it in my ring finger for ages. It takes ages to go away but it doesn't get worse so I just carried on riding (and climbing) and it was fine. If it hurts, either stop or just dose up on ibuprofen.

    Pastrana

    Oh my word, that's nuts!
  19. Nah, some of them have got problems. There was one in Lancaster who was known to everyone, partly because he was always around but mostly because you could smell him from ten paces. Anyway, it later transpired that he owned a £300k house and a yacht and just one day decided to become homeless
  20. Yeah you could plug in an ethernet hub. Though obviously it wouldn't be wireless.

Not funny, see you in 24 hours.

    Topic Wanted

Sounds dodgy as hell. And please make a bit more effort next time, I had to read that question about four times before I understood what you were on about.
  23. Toooo many modern remakes of 70s films. The 70s version was a good one but I doubt the new version will be much cop. Still, it'll be interesting to see.
