  1. Just had a look on the Chain Reaction site and they have the Hope Pro II Trial hub (48 engagements) listed at £120. Can anybody provide any more information on these (not available yet)?
  2. New Ashton Justice. See www.ashtonbikes.net. I think I'm going to have one when the next batch arrives (any time now I think). Had a ride on Gav Bedford's prototype and it was really nice. Back end is nice and short, but the bike isn't too long so it'll still be fun to ride. Or, if you want something cheap you could get an Atomz Evo3 (1045mm) off Adam @ Merseytrial. He'll sort you out a top deal as he's got several left in stock. Hand made in France too...
  3. Where is the best place to buy a Profile hub? I'm after an 8 speed 135mm non-disk rear hub. Also, what is the best price right now? Thanks.
  4. Yeah, Vincent won his class (Master) by a comfortable margin. Think Chris Doney won Expert.
  5. Vincent Hermance... everyone seemed to be bumming Canas and Ros too much. Vinny was just unbelievable to watch...
  6. You'll pay for it later in life when you get arse raped for taxes. My Masters degree course included 8000 quid per annum pay/expenses, plus fees paid. Wasn't government paying though.
  7. If it's a Saturday or Sunday then there'll probably be someone about to show you the best places to ride. Perhaps some of the Welsh guys will come up too?
  8. My 1993 Raleigh Ascender had chrome 26in x 30mm rims. Heavy (steel) and not altogether that strong. Probably still get complete wheels with them on in Halfords or somewhere. Waste of time though.
  9. Don't worry, it wasn't Chris' bike...
  10. People are stupid. Cleverer people cash in. Buy shed loads of 21p bottled water from Tesco and put 'Low Calorie' stickers on it and charge one pound a bottle. Set up a stall outside the gym and they'll all buy it before they get into their cars to drive (never understood that) home.
  11. They are Wheelbase. I know someone who bought a frame/fork about a year ago for (I think) 100 quid. Anyway, 'newb' seems to know more than me about them and he says they have no more left. You could phone and ask anyway.
  12. Use the Echo rim you big silly. Who gives a damn what it looks like - my bike looks like a shed but it still rides ok.
  13. Are you saying you want to know how to build one, or you want someone to build one for you? This could be an ideal time to learn a new skill... Bear in mind that if you pay someone to design/build the pages, you will probably then have to pay more for the hosting and domain name. If you want to have a go at building your own there are plenty of tutorials on the web to help you. Try playing about with Frontpage (or Dreamweaver if you prefer) and seeing what you can come up with.
  14. There was a shop in Cumbria (forget the name) knocking them out brand new for 100 quid frame and fork. That was the white one.
  15. Don't be silly. Luke told me he was there on Sunday. His post suggests he is only there Saturday. It's because I read the thread that I had to ask.... (N)
  16. I'm not into all this heat treating stuff - as 'yain' said you'd be silly to try and heat treat one area only. I ripped a head tube clean off a frame and then got it welded back on and fitted Fattys and front hopped it to death and it is still solid. My Ashton Justice had a 2in crack round the driveside BB/seat-tube weld - fixed it properly and its still fine a year later. Thing is, if one part of the frame has gone, then another area may well go afterwards, although it does depend how the frame is built. Martyn told me that the Justice was designed to focus stresses on the BB rather than the headtube, so I think if it was going to crack again it would be around the new weld. You can't really tell. Although 400 for Mitch's bike doesn't sound too bad. Although you'd have to ask what he did to it to make it snap in the first place - might suggest it's had a hard ride. (And don't anybody give me any 'stop trying to ruin someone's sale' - I'm just trying to give an honest opinion to help this guy out)
  17. If it's steel, use a standard metal primer - if it's aluminium you want a primer that is suitable for aluminium, like an etch primer. Check the tin before you buy.
  18. How does it produce more power without requiring more fuel? And don't forget, if you remap to 136bhp its probably because you're going to blast about in it. 55mpg is the optimum fuel consumption - if you spend all day burning up high streets in 2nd gear then slamming the brakes on at the lights (even though you could see they were red from half a mile away) like half the idiots round here do then you won't get 55mpg.
  19. BT Broadband. Might not be the cheapest but it is reliable and the customer service is good. I'm always sceptical of these crappy '2Mb broadband £9.99/month" type offers. You don't get owt for nowt, and generally you get what you pay for.
  20. Astra or Vectra TDI's are dead good on fuel. Drive all day and the gauge hardly moves.
