Braided hosing isnt shit at all. Some are though. What brand is yours??? Because in my eyes the only braided hosing that is any good is the magura hosing, not univex or goodridge.
-
Seems good to me mate. Technique looks good. Maybe try and drop the front more and really push down when you go, and make sure you take off from the edge of the obstacle. Otherwise your looking good. :) Some people like to lift the bike in the air, but I like to go straight.
-
Hahahahahaah, yeah me too. What hub is he using?
-
Yeah I agree with bar height for sure. My short control is very hard to bunny hop, but I have a really low bar height of like 38.5inches with BB+20mm. When I snapped my ashton forks I put a spare set on that were really short, so I raised my bars up quite a bit to compenaste, and she bunnyhopped really nice. I think it just allowes you to be in a better position over the bike to pull up. But then the trialsy moves were a little harder.

His dad does. FACT. :) I think its funny. Ot Pi's dad founded and owned Monty. Ot pi went on to be one of the best trials riders ever. Kris Leesons dad owns leeson and Kris went on to be one of the best riders in the country. Vincents dad owns Koxx, and Vincent has become one of the best riders in the world. Im sure there are more examples of this, so please add ones I have missed. Now ask the question, would they have got as far in the sport without their fathers support?? :)

I think he meant "what was the problem" as in was it the wheel, or brake mounts or whatever. How did you solve it basically??
-
If someone does a sick line, then everyone remebers it, and its one of the best ways to describe where you mean. Steve I bet there are a few spots around your way called "the butcher wall" or "the storey drop gap" or even " the steve rail"

Ye, but this is just as interesting. What do you want?? 2 different threads on sidehop technique?? And if you look, I gave my opinion on that. ;)
-
Ye I like this sort of thing to ben ;) Well I ride with sam (wheeler) and nick (goddard) all the time and we all agree to both. Sam goes huge to both and never gets close to going to front wheel. But thats a mod. Which I think is different. Me and nick (mostly nick as I hate sidehops) always practise and do smaller sidehops but going to both. Its better to get the right technique going on something small rather than just getting up big stuff crap, if you know what I mean. And when porter comes out he only goes to both, and he is on a stock. I think you must get to a point in height where you cant really bin it to front and get the back up, so you have to go to both. I think its only with this new tuck in the middle of the frame technique that this is now possible. Because I think back in the day when you had to tuck over the back wheel you could go higher by going to front. So I think that because of tucking in the middle of the frame you can go higher going to both. I can give you loads of vid referances of sidehops, good, bad, different. But you probs wont have all the vids I would be talking about :P
-
We might be getting abit confused about what I mean by going to front wheel. You do touch it slightly first some times but by then you have tucked and are up bar an inch or two. I agree ben you can go to front and still go big, but I would say that it is worth learning the "proper technique". God I hate saying that. Like you say each to their own, what ever works. But I think if you get serious about it, to both is the only way.
-
Not really sam. If you look at every one who does big sidehops I think you will see what I mean. To go big you cant really go to front wheel. Examples being; porter, wheeler, lee scott, tunni, hermance, belay, slinger, ros, keita and so on. It is better and you can go higher to both, but it is harder. Im not saying you cant sidehop and land front wheel because you can but if you look at the people you would class as good at sidehops then you will se the vast majority going to both. I cant go to both very well and when it gets to about 41 inches Im binning it to front. ;) I cant help it. Sorry to add to my little list Stan shaw and waynio. Waynes tuck when he was sidehopping in bristol was imense, and stan has got brilliant technique.
-
The better technique for landing is two wheels by the way. ;) Harder to do but by far and away the best way to do it. Look at the people who do big sidehops, they dont "bin it to front" as me, nick and sam say.

Absoulutly fair enough Mike. I just wanted to ask some questions, and thank you for answering. I really do like the fact that you are improving the products and I think that any company that sits on their achivement rather than to keep making them will fall behind very quickly. I dont want to give the impression that middleburn dont improve their designs, merely that they havent really needed to. For ff I dont think anyone can look any further than the tensiles, but otherwise I would go Middleburn eveytime. Life time warranty on them which includes everything is something you cant really sneeze at. Plus when I knackered my fist set up by riding them loose, they gave me a new set for 1/2 price. I dont know what onza would do in the same situation but I thought that was a very nice gesture.
-
How long have tensiles been available to buy?? How long have Middleburns been available to buy?? How can you possibly state that you have sold more tensile cranks than middleburn have sold RS7's?? It would seem to me that you cant. In fact I would say that due to rs7's having been out far far longer than the tensiles that it would be the complete oposite, and if you compared a truthfull breakage ratio Im sure the middleburns would win. If you thought that the tensiles where better than the middleburns then why have you changed and updated the design, where as middleburn rs7's have remained unchanged for many years?? I appritiate and admire that you are still pushing the design and making it better because that is the best way to improve parts. Just pointing out that the only developement middleburn have had to make is a different bashring. EDIT: Also my middleburns look like those pics you have there and have done for about 4 years and I think most people do.
-
I would practice both anyway, regardless of which is better. For situations where you need to position yourself on maybe two small objects or something and you have to go from both. I think from back wheel is easier and better for going big because thats what works for most people. Imagine it like this. When going from both you have basically dropped the front wheel the lowest you ever possibly could, so you should be in a good position to generate power. When going from rear you cant drop the front as low but its the momentum you generate from dropping the front that lets you go higher. Plus from rear you dont have to concentrate about lifting the front as much.
-
Its 2 inches away from a stock. And 4 inches from a mod. So closer to a stock
-
I think we are all forgetting the good old el gato.
-
You should see it in real life  For a better referance to the size of it, please refer to Fat mikes Final cut 2. Its at 1.40 in final cut 2.

Kurt Brain use to weld extra bits on to his levers to create a longer blade and hence more leverage. Is a good idea. Like hope disc levers are long. Mind you I think maggy levers would start cracking a touch more with longer blades. Personaly I think they are powerful enough the way they are, and the NOZ is right, if you try to make them more powerful you sacrifice the feel. Like the mono trial, that has a softer feel at the lever because of the ratio's.
-
Yeah you forgot loads :o hahaha Me and wheeler, and dan jones (who also donated obstacles) manning was there but didnt do much :ermm: I forgot peps too

Compare the amount of time the tensiles have been out. Then compare the amount of time middleburns have been out. Then compare the number of each set that have snapped and you get a clear winner  If you run ff then maybe the best bet for you is to get one tensile on the drive side and one middleburn for the non-drive side
