My old next door neighbour is on the lookout for an LCR after being so impressed with mine. What you can get nowadays for around £3k is scary compared to what I paid for mine a few weeks before they plummeted in price!
-
Just sell the car. It's shit, and quite clearly cursed...
-
Not quite what you mean is it
-
Equally, turning up on the day, half an hour late usually gets a fair chunk of money off. You do, however, run the risk of a wasted journey if the track day is full though. I live right by Snetterton, and havent booked a track day for years.

I'll try and do mine at the weekend. Need a long time to write down my spec list
-
Wrong thread... Maybe I'll take some pictures and videos at the weekend then, might give me something to do! I'm more of a "do-er" than a "write-up-er"! Maybe we should all do like a profile thing for our cars, where we put a few pictures, and list the specs/detail the modifications...maybe 3 favourites or something. My only suggestion Jardo...if lots of people are saying the same thing, it must be true!

I agree Paul. I should post more about mine, but I often forget to take pictures of what I do until its right at the end! I don't tend to rant and rave about mine either, because its "just another 1.8t", and sadly nowadays, unless you do something really out of the ordinary, people just dont care, so its a waste of time writing about it. Sad really

Anyone had points on license before? How long does it take?
george_seamons replied to PaRtZ's topic in Chit Chat
HIGHLY suggest you sign up to www.peipoo.com/forums. They will help you far more than anybody on here will (it is full of lawyers, police, ex-police etc). "Pub lawyers" and "my-mate-says lawyers" are a very bad thing to go by, you need to be 100% sure the advice you receive is accurate. From memory, they say to allow up to 6 weeks for the license to come back. What happened exactly? Did you get a fixed penalty notice? If not, you will be summonsed to court, and they have up to 6 months lay the information, and then a "reasonable time" to set the court date, so you may be in for the long haul! I've had to surrender my license twice. The first time it came back within a week, the second time it took nearer 7 weeks. By the way, you won't have been "arrested", you will just have been cautioned ("You do not have to say anything, but what you do say...blah blah blah").- 1 reply

...so not the same as Prawn's at all then So that's 3 f**ked R-Tech cars within the last few months. Maybe he's not so good after all! [/fishing]

But as Nick quite rightly said, you haven't been in that many "proper" 1.8t's. My LCR is the fastest 1.8t I have been in, but that doesn't mean its the best! Gas passing through a piece of square tube can't possibly be smooth flowing.
-
I wonder how much better it would be if it were done "correctly". That box section bodge can't be good for flow!

He took a guys Leon out, and spazzed the gear change...went from 3rd to 2nd instead of 3rd to 4th. Biiiiiiig over-rev and dead engine
-
S3's aren't the only things on his slaying list...a 400+BHP Leon can be added to that list, but not quite for the reason he hoped for!
-
Hahaha, love how even you are taking the piss out of him about it now. Brilliant! I can't imagine using 300bhp without my Brembos...I'd have no confidence at all!
-
Lol...I've worked at that guys place before. He's a multi millionaire who has LOADS of London estate agents. He owns a place called Heveningham Hall in Suffolk. He has at least 10 Ferraris, a Hummer H1, loads of speed boats, quad bikes etc etc. The bloke is LOADED, and doesn't give a shit about anything. He keeps buying land around the area, just because he doesn't want anybody else to have it, or build on it, haha.

Gatso's do not have an "alert" mode. Some will flash, and you don't get a ticket, but that's because they are dummy units, with no camera inside. From time to time, the guts of the "real" cameras get moved about, so the dummy ones then become active. Gatsos CAN measure your speed when facing you, and more often than not there are lines on both sides of the road (if not, over taking would mean no ticket!). The lines are not what the camera works out the speed with anyway, they just provide a secondary check for the person processing the ticket. The reason you can't get in trouble from a front facing GATSO flashing you is that they are not type-approved for such measurement. Check out www.pepipoo.com/forums for more info. Its a VERY handy site for any police/parking related issues.

Oh right, didn't realise you could buy the front one seperately! I've had the rear one for years...I'll look into getting the front one Isn't it bonded in though? I don't remember it looking like it was "seperate".
-
Regardless of them being polybushed or not, renewing that many bushes will totally transform the car. I remember doing just the rear beam bushes on my Toledo, and it tightened the back end up no end. I always thought polybushes in the rear beam were bad though...omething to do with the twisting forces not working in the poly? Everybody seemed to recommend Cupra R bushes, so that's what I did in my Toledo. I keep meaning to polybush my wishbones, but I always seem to find something else to spend the money on! When you say "front" dogbone bush, what do you mean?
-
But all the "work" is done by the bar, all the bushes do is support the bar, and act as a sort of bearing.
-
Not saving for a new gearbox then?! Still, sounds like a nice list of goodies. I bought a load of little bits for mine the other day, nothing exciting...but its nice to tie up some odd ends (pipe bungs for my intake pipe instead of spark plugs being one of the items haha!). Always been intruiged by the idea of polybushed arb mounts and steering rack mounts...surely you can't actually feel any difference? I've seen lots of people talk about Tigersealing the standard engine mounts, might have to give that a go.
-
If Nick's aren't, I've got some on the back of my Leon that are double drilled (90% certain!) that you can check with, as long as I get them back asap.

It took me that long because my girlfriends headgasket went halfway through, so I had to down tools and replace that. There is NO way you changed it in an hour. Not a chance. And like Paul said, with 2 people it would have been DO much easier! Also, Phil is a trained mechanic, who works on Audis every day, obviously hes going to be quicker than me. I could wire a house quicker than him...but what does that prove?! Anyway...you can hardly comment, what with the whole "broken" gearbox Why lie to try and belittle me, just makes you look a fool! In non-bitching news: fitting the manifold was SO worth it! Totally changed how the turbo delivers. Sounds different to. Had a mate follwong me, saying I had a few flames licking my bumper, which judging by the pops and bangs, doesn't surprise me!

You must be struggling for room in there now!

Honestly, it makes the A3 seem like my green Astra, haha. It really is so unbelievably fast. Traction really is an issue this time of year though!
