Just committed to join the 'car that works but is boring' brigade. BMW 120d M Sport has just been reserved to pick up on Saturday. Getting a cool £520 part exchange for the shit heap. Only way the wife managed to convince me was that I get to have it remapped on Monday.

I saw about a hundred of them come past me while I was walking through Haywards Heath the other week, all with numbers on so must have been part of some event. Looked pretty smart.

Just a bit of CSS to sort that notification section out on desktop: header .ipsLayout_container { padding-top: 10px; } (not trying to teach any sucking of eggs, just hoping to make it simpler by just copy pasting rather than simply saying what doesn't work...)

Supposedly the fastest I can fit in that motherboard, and twice as fast as a what I've got in there now. If I actually use it more than once a month I'll build something else anyway, although for the cost of a decent rig I might as well actually go racing.

I ended up realising that my motherboard could only take FM1 chips so ended up ordering a 3870k and the gtx660. Both for under £100 so that's handy. I only ended up putting the order in because iRacing was taking so login to install. As it happened it plays well anyway so any improvement will be fine by me. It's not about the graphics in that anyway - the simulation is spot on. Thanks for all the help!

Yea, it's a complete unnecessary cost ultimately. The £150 is fairly arbitrary in terms of what I think I can get past the wife without her noticing I think I'll go with that unless I see any ridiculously better options tonight.

I'd happily switch to Intel, I actually have no idea why this one is AMD. Must've just been cheap at the time. I guess, though, that even getting into the discounts involved with a bundle I'm unlikely to get something decent with the GTX660 as well for the £150 mark?

One thing at a time It'll only really be used for gaming, although very infrequently. As I mentioned earlier in the thread I just want to be able to play some racing sims with a 'fair' level of immersion when I do get the chance to play. Just waiting for my iRacing updates to download and then I'll see whether it'll run at all on this setup. Unlikely I'd imagine, but worth a go. CPU wise, apparently the same 'category' are the FX-8120, Phenom 2 X6 1075T, A8 3850, Athlon X4 651K although I haven't checked them out price wise. Is there a certain 'type' that is better for the gaming side?

Turns out I made a bit of a boob and brought the wrong spare PC home. This was one that just used to track rankings of websites, and as such it's poverty spec. It's here now though, so I thought I'd ask the best route I should take. Currently it is: AMD A4-3300 APU 2.5ghz Integrated Radeon HD Graphics 16gb ram (I haven't opened the case but I'm pretty sure it's DDR3) In my eBay basket at the moment is an AMD A10-6800k and a GTX660. Are either of those going to be rubbish choices? I don't really want to be spending the £150 they're going to come to anyway, so I'd prefer no more pricey options. If there's a reason I shouldn't get those together though I want to know obviously. Thanks in advance PC guys.

ALERT: THIS IS DEFINITELY THE SMALLEST GRIPE. I don't know why this is bugging me when I load the site, and I know it's not your doing @Danny and completely Invisions fault, but can you remove the title on the front page so things line up? Currently: With a shoddy bit of 'display: none;' in the CSS: Although you probably won't want to do it in the CSS as that'll obviously remove all of the titles from the rest of the pages where it's not so annoying. Then again, then you might want to make the header rows the same height as well, and then you're probably going down a rabbit hole of fixing Invision's design f**kups.

Why not do both @Tom Booth? Great news @Luke Rainbird – I completely missed that post while TF was down, and I imagine quite a few others did too. The big C is getting smaller and smaller, and it's great to hear more success stories. My father in law went through it all the year before last and came through the other side too, so I can imagine a little of the relief you're feeling!

I've never played, apart from secondary school which doesn't really count (although it was Warlingham for people who want to make this shitty connection) and have always wanted to. As always, running gets in the way. As the years go on, I notice how little I actually achieved in running. Go Reuben. As a side note, that's the name I've got earmarked for our son whenever he happens. Good choice.

Personally, I'm wearing my shirt and looking forward to this first - tough - game. I think winning this game gives us a great chance for the rest of the tournament.

Awesome video guys – I'd been wondering whether a video like this would ever come out being as you've been over there a little while now Judders. Hope it's all going well I think it was just after that Clean video came out that I first rode with Carl, maybe it was just before, I don't know. Either way, I was completely surprised by the difference in tech and bravery. Seriously underrated rider.
