To Blowtorch, Or Not To Blowtorch..that Is The Question
Krisboats replied to Shez.sheridan's topic in Trials Chat
Get a torx head, the ones that fit into most multichangeable screwdrivers etc and place it into a ratchet.... stick a long solid pole on the ratchet and use the pole tp lever the bolt undone. I'd like to see any torx bolt that can withstand being twisted with a 6 foot pole for leverage. Mine were in a bit tight too, i just used a screwdriver to get mine off (one with the multichange head fitting) and i managed to bend the torx head so it spiralled instead of being straight all the way down. Got the bolts undone though. -
Same thing for me too dude you'll manage like 42mm with loads of room for setting the brake up and you might manage a 48mm rim with a bit of a squeeze, it has been done though.

Nah, rear brake helps beinners loads more.

To be fair though if the crank was threaded and the peddle fell off while you were riding it its your own fault for not completely inspecting the bike and making sure for yourself it was in a working condition.... something you should have done before riding it. It does sound like he might have known about it before though, well at least that it wasn't 100% anyway, so he should have mentioned it felt a bit weird. And am i right in thinking you were moaning over the little cable tension adjuster on the lever? Something that costs around £1 to replace or for free if you see an old bike thats not wanted. Theres also the fact that you may be at a different skill level than nicky is. If he's not very good it might well be harder for him to completely strip a crank thread where as if you go out and start playing on it without checking it before and bust out some big gaps and drops and land them a bit heavy, your more likely to wreck it. If thats the case the whole thing might have been avoided if you'd just checked the damn thing in the first place . I thought it was just common knowledge that before riding a second hand bike you need to take most of it apart to inspect it. Take the bars and stem off, check the bearings in the headset, make sure the forks aren't about to snap, check the bottom brackets tight and that the crank arms are greased and tight, check peddles are greased and tight, replace the old cables with new ones (for steel cables not hydraulic), re-bleed hydraulic brakes unless stated as recently bled, check the freehub and innner tubes for wear etc. Apart from pointing that out i take no sides and have no part in this conversation other than to remind buyers of second hand bikes to check them before riding them properly. And i'm also not looking for an argument so don't start one based on what i just said

Its every which way but loose with clint eastwood (No he's not the orangutan). It was a funny film though, but i think the last time i watched it i was like 11. Good films *The Jackal is also a good film. Stars bruce willis and Richard Gear with russian mafias, assasination plots and *a big f**koff gun *The die hard trilogy. *Blade. *Shaft *Man on fire *Beverly hills cop *Lethal Weapon Good Comedy * Kiss kiss bang bang. Great film, and a comedy like you said.... some truly hilarious bits in it, very fast sarcastic humour... watching it a couple of times increases its hilarity as well. *Without a paddle *Nothing to loose *Blue streak. Its average really, not great but has some funny bits if you can stand steven lawrance overacting for an hour and a half. *Dodgeball *Zoolander *Anchorman Should do you for a while

Vista won't need a minimum of 4gb of ram before it'll run it. My mums shitty laptop meets the specs for running vista and its about 3 years old. Not only that but having a piece of software that requires a minimum of one of the latest graphics cards available is going to severely limit the target market of consumers for the new software. The most common graphics card range at the minute is still in the nvidia geforce 6600/6800 range so it seems, according to mr wright, that microsoft have ruled out over 3/4 of their possible market. Not exactly sensible is it? Windows ME minimum requirements: * Min Hard Drive Space: 295 MB * Min Processor Type: Intel Pentium - 150 MHz * Min RAM Size: 32 MB * Peripheral / Interface Devices: Sound card, mouse or compatible device, fax modem, CD-ROM xp minimum requirements: * Min Hard Drive Space: 1.5 GB * Min Processor Type: Intel Pentium - 233 MHz * Min RAM Size: 64 MB * Peripheral / Interface Devices: Mouse or compatible device, CD-ROM, SVGA monitor Notice how the system requirements for windows is hardly a giant leap in hardware specs? So i highly doubt that this new version would jump to 4GB ram, some silly expensive processor and a graphics card that currently costs around £200. If your going to blag make it believable, minimum of: would have gone down much better I think pete might have gotten bored again and decided to tease the new members.

Nah, find a bank/slope/half pipe ride up it a couple of feet, well however far you feel comfortable with really. As you get to the apex of your ascent up the said slope i.e. the point at which you stop going up do a little hop so that the bike comes off the floor, this helps build up a bit of momentum and helps to prepare you for when you start to fakie out of abubaca's and things.... you'll be prepared and used to fakieing as soon as you land so it won't be as hard to master. Land this little hop with the brakes off and for a starter just land and allow the bike to roll back, peddling slightly faster than the chain is moving so that your slow turning feet don't accidentally slow the backwards travel of the bike, this will allow you to travel further backwards when your just starting because if you try to control the speed using your peddles like you will do when you get more skilled at doing it you will be more likely to loose your balance. Keep trying it and eventually you'll notice an increase in your ability to fakie and this is the time you want to start thinking about spinning out of the fakie, this is ideally done with the rear brake when your first starting, you'll want to be fakieing and the start to turn the bars in the opposite direction to which way you want to spin. As you start to turn apply the brake slightly and lift the front wheel off the floor to leave just the rear wheel on the floor and effectively increase the spinning speed. PLace the front wheel back down again when your ready and you should be riding away nicely. To imporve this move you can start to control the fakie with the use of your peddles, don't use the rear brake at all and instead slow your peddling rotation down to cause the hub to engage, at the same time as engaging the hub turn the bars lift the front wheel and spin round, still keeping the hub engaged. you will now be able to give a little peddle stroke and spin the bike round further and slower, somethign which looks very cool indeed. Most of all, have fun

In all honesty the easiest way to learn how to bunnyhop is to learn how to do the so called "gorilla hop". This involves just literally crouching down a little bit while your riding along and jumping upwards and pulling the bars, aiming to make both wheels lift off the floor. Once you can do this you will already be aware of what sort of thing to do with your body to compress it enough to jump the bike in the air, so learning to do it properly will be easy. Just do the same thing as before but pull the front end up first and do the same crouching then jumping upwards movement. Keep practising this and lifting the front end a little higher everytime. Wallah, you can bunnyhop. To improve it try bunnyhopping onto a curb but with the intention of landing on your rear wheel first, this will get you used to getting up things and will provide you with the knowledge of knowing how high your front end should be to comfortably stay on the back wheel after landing. Going out with riders better than yourself and getting them to explain will also be a greta help to you. EDIT: Damned thing posted it twice

Please take into account the fact that bens pissed at the time of writing this sohis judegement is slightly impared... He might not usually say something like this if he was sober, then again, i don't know him so he might say something even worse. Just thought i should point it out before all of trials forum has a look and starts judging him I think the buying a zenith and selling off the headset is a good idea. There'l almost always be some XC rider looking for a high quality component and you can sell it as new and for £10 cheaper as a buy it now on ebay and i would imagine you'd almost certainly get a sale. It definately makes the frame a much more fininancially friendly choice.

Ha ha, nice use of the word beating... multipurpose

Ha ha this was some great bodging. Unfortunately though mark we already had a bb spacer in between the bash and the freeweheel and it was partially the cause of the problem. What i did to the cranks was grind the top few lines of thread and crank arm from the crank... levelled it off with the grinder and then filed the threads so they were all neat and tidy again... I got them so perfect the freewheel just slid on without a problem. I also grinded the inside of the bash so it was all flat instead of being concave (i think thats the right one) so the bash was about 3/4 of its original size, therefore, removing the need to fit the bb spacer that was there to seperate the freewheel and the bash. We got it working though so thats good, it now has an amazing 1/2 mm'ish of clearance The moment was kind of ruined though when i managed to strip the threads in his four bolt mount on his frame when i was setting up his brake :$ Fixed iot for him though And jon, i think pictures are in order

Adobe Photoshop Split links usually die and if their the el cheapo ones they don't last through trials use for very long. Its best to use a chain tool and attach it yourself like a real man. Sorry about the copyrightage biff... but if it isn't registered as copyrighted it aint diddly squat Plus i thought you'd appreciate it

As far as i understand the question is will he be able to learn how to ride properly by just going out and riding. The answer to which is yes to an extent, you'll get used to the bike and how it performs but without the guidance of something like a video of someone else riding for you to imitate and learn from i'm pretty sure you won't be able to learn how to ride properly. Download some videos from the videos section and have a look at Trashzen.com... you will get the hang of it and if you can spend hours riding everyday you should get the hang of it pretty quickly, so long as you stick with it and don't give up if you feel like your not getting the hang of it. Within a year you should be a fairly competant rider

Click on "window" at the top of the screen... it'll be between timeline and help... then click timeline on the dropdown menu.

Or when it just splits a bit and sprays blood all over you and anybody/anything nearby.... well good As far as i was aware blood is quite corrosive isn't it? might wreck the seals and stuff a bit quick. And trialsguru it'll be in a sealed system so, you guessed it, no air. So long as you drip your blood straight into a bowl and suck it up with a syringe it might be do-able. You'd need a fair amount of it though... one hell of a nose bleed. I suppose if you really wanted it next time your picking your nose and it starts bleeding just stick your finger up there a bit harder and scratch the insides of your nose to s**t so that it doesn't stop bleeding for a while .

QUOTE(deanie-b @ Jun 30 2006, 09:15 PM) ←Bid retraction form . One strike. You won't be going to court dude . Can I just add , it costs a minimum of 35 pence to list an item . Exactly minimum, then you pay more for a background, a title in bold, pictures... putting a reserve of £50 costs something silly like £7.

Dude you should have gone to ASDA, 3p per pound near me.
