  1. By leaving the end sticking out the hole nearest the axle washer
  2. I wouldn't say that gilles can't ride street. That coustellier notts vid is still a good video and it's 6 years old! Impressive move though, especially given the apparent lack of effort. On a similar train of thought to the current argument though, i wonder how each rider would cope on the others bike? Ie damon on the koxx and vica versa.
  3. Well i figured it was about time i moved on from the rex. It served me well but as this was just laying around i thought i might as well... Given it wa sexactly the same geometry pretty much and the components are the same it's amazing how much my riding progressed in such a short time on it. Now i've splashed out a bit more money though... Better pics to follow shortly. Looking at getting some nice new bits for it and really treating myself with it now i'm enjoying riding so much.
  4. Indeed, i love my monty bars. Although mine and boumsongs flexed a bit and both creaked rather noticeably too. Boumsongs trialtech bars are rather flexy too, far more than my monty ones.
  5. I was wondering why nobody had pointed out this issue already...
  6. Shovel and a plastic storage box with a sealable lid. Maybe a lockable lid if you're gonna carry it through the house. Or fire [/Alpha]
  7. Same man (although not late..... or hungover ), it was a right laugh
  8. It's official, my new ride has got me back out on the bike. I've ridden more in the last 6 weeks than in all of last year.

  9. All the snapped carbon frames i've seen have been XC frames and they always seem to fail around the headtube area. This would need beefing up, especially for trials. I would imagine due to the forces of pedal kicking you would also need to ensure the frame takes into account the level of twist when the pedal tension is used to propel a rider across a gap. http://www.bustedcarbon.com/ Might be worth a look. Also, check out the youtube vid at the bottom of the page. It certainly made me smile
  10. Nothings wrong with them, just sometimes it can feel like you've ordered from a robot. And they can take a little while to get things sorted if they fail or need replacing. Tarty, heatsink, selectbikes etc have always put little stickers or sweets in with the product. Todge's fixed tensioner had a hand signed thank you slip in the box. Chain reaction is more large scale, so obviously doing that for every order is less efficient. You'll get your product and an invoice, and you'll get it fast. But it just lacks that human touch i guess.
  11. So if he just wants to order from tarty, wouldn't hurt to ask right? I never said go for one shop or the other, merely that he shouldn't give up on asking tarty just because someone on a forum told him they wouldn't.
  12. Do it for sure, never hurts to ask. The worst they'll do is say no.
  13. You notice your rim flexing when the brake is applied?
  14. Recalling GCSE science of about 7 years ago it's an effect due to the way light is reflected and absorbed by our skin so the blue veins we see are actually that specific wavelength being reflected back. Blood in our bodies is always red, though the blood in veins is a much darker red that is close to being dark purple.
  15. Has it not occurred to you that the video is over a year old and while most people on here have seen it, there's new people coming on all the time who may not have?
  16. Banter is awesome, this is childish and annoying. Unlucky on the frame mate. I hate it when things like that happen. I bought an air con unit that looked alright and it worked for 24 hours before conking out. Sometimes we're all just really unlucky.
  17. That's not true. No insect has a naturally occurring lifespan of 24 hours, even mayflies (not related to the dragonfly species) which in the adult stage usually have no mouth parts or means to feed themselves, live in a larvae form for over a month. Some of the larger dragonflies like the brown hawker can actually live for 6-7 years. That's probably because everyone at the time used the phrase "practically unsinkable" and since then everyone and his dog has heard the story and well... you know how chinese whispers work. The makers and several news articles before and during it's maiden voyage all stated that it (and it's sister ship, the Olympic) was "practically unsinkable", which is close enough.
  18. Are you sure the bolt has no threads on it? Presuming it's the brake mount bolt has it not got the threads from the frame stuck to the bolt?
  19. You don't say.... I'm glad you're all sorted now.
  20. Well i guess it would be rude not to bring the toy out for a test spin.
  21. I can't work out whether this is "be a chav day" or just "be a bloke day", which is essentially every day....
  22. Exactly. The top edge of the grind isn't used by the pad so you can happily round it back off by running a piece of metal round the top of it, or sandpaper/file if you careful not to rub the areas that the brake will use. I remove my burrs and sharp edges on the rim straight after a grind using a metal bladed paint scraper. I literally just scrape it round the edge of the rim to make it round again and i can run my tyres as low as i want and still land very heavily with a rider weight of just over 16 stone on some very sharp corners and i won't pinch at all. I've had one puncture this year and that was from a thorn. And i've landed some things VERY heavily.
  23. Have you ground your rear rim?
