  1. Did you back the TPA all the way out before you bled the brake?
  2. It can be lighter yet!!!!! My riding doesnt justify it though Ahh the trappings of a decentish salary, you can buy pretty much the bike you want
  3. Looks like I should be there till about 3 - 3:30 Gotta go pick up some geckos from stoke and then our mates from the derby train station later so wont be staying all day but will prolly be about fookered by then anyways
  4. You were so smooth and controlled at matlock, I dont understand how you have the energy to do that all day, Im still aching from my minor trips over the bars
  5. Coming from sainsbury carpark in matlock: - Turn immediately left after the petrol station up a new looking road that bends up the hill to the left, cant remember what its called 'something spa road' I think - its not on google maps. About 1/4 mile up the hill you will see a layby on the left hand side with some square rocks with a path leading beyond them (if its been raining it may well be flooded). Park up in the layby and go along the path, you will go up a hill towards the left and if you cant find some rocks to ride you need buggering with a rusty shovel!!!
  6. I have nothing against the farming of animals for meat/produce, however I dont agree with battery farming or inadequate living conditions. Free range where ever possible My gf can pluck, gut and cook pheasant from start to finish; not something that I would really wish to do but Ill happily eat it.
  7. If you are planning on travelling to matlock on a weekend with good weather I wouldnt go on the A6, follow the A38 north towards the M1, turn off at alfreton onto the A615 and follow the road through tansley and onto matlock - this will avoid most of the biker traffic going to matlock bath (which is south of matlock on the A6). Alternatively catch the train to matlock and the quarry is about 10 minutes ride
  8. I was wondering how they had backtracked on their previous tech article about integrated headsets, although I believe this is an internal not integraged; either way I seem to recall them saying that anything other than an external headset is crap
  9. I know, hence the maggie That is true but the upmost was done to stop it being stretchy, decent weight prestrecthed cable, linear outer etc etc. I put my mono trial on the back as a test and it was just as bad on the hold stakes but less bite; either way Ill stick with a rear rim brake on stock
  10. I had a 185 bb7 on the back of the triton for a while, it was bedded in fine and the speed dial turned up to maximum power - it was incapable of holding my 12 stone on the edge of anything higher than a foot tall. Seriously unimpressed. The spoke flex I could have gotten used to, the lack of sound was awesome and the bite was pretty good for a disk but the hold wasnt there Now back on a maggie and its all good
  11. The more yellow it is the more dehydrated you are. Go out to the pub, drink a few pints and your piss will be clear because youre full of liquids, wake up in the morning with a hangover (because of dehydration) and your piss will be yellow
  12. All being well I will get my refills in the next day or so then, ordered them just under a month ago. Not so worried about the wait as I still have some life left in my reds, more concerned with the lack of response to PMs - that said givent he recent issues he probably has a shedload of messages to trawl through. Will report back here when they arrive
  13. Ill buy it 13 and a half weeks
  14. Now try it on a stock and you will change your mind
  15. The reason the maggie appears to be more powerful is because of the radius from the axle at which it is acting, put a 600mm disk brake on and it will be better than the maggie; however its not a practical option at all. Maguras instant bite and lock occurs because the pads rock in the holders and the material digs into the rim, the actual force exerted is very little in comparison to a disk.
  16. If you dont have a tap wrench you can always use a small open ended spanner
  17. In one word. Yes You can buy a helicoil kit for about 15 quid which will contain about 20 inserts so you can do it at home for free; alternatively take the frame to a friendly local engineers and they may be able to put one in for the price of a couple of beers. Most decent tool/bearing shops should be able to get you a kit if they dont stock them, you will need a drill and preferably some oil to use as a tapping lubricant.
  18. Have a look for some devconF, its an aluminised 2part epoxy putty that is used to repair gasket and flange faces (amongst others) in the aerospace industry, get some of that in there and get the headtube re-machined - should be near enough good as new, especially if combined with a deep set cup Its not cheap though.
  19. Lucozade keeps me going for longer, usually drink it if Im driving for a while when tired, the glucose keeps me awake and concentrating I rode matlock quarry yesterday and stupidly didnt eat a thing all day apart from a banana and some water - had absolutely no energy after only a couple of hours riding Should have stocked up on snickers and lucozade
  20. Add to that a titanium steerer tube would be flexy as f**k
  21. Was so funny Good ride today, despite me being generally shite and tearing holes in my hands
  22. Typically for mod: - If you are using front freewheel (FFW) then you use an 18t freewheel and a 12t fixed sprocket on the rear wheel. If youre using a freehub (such as profile or chris king) then you use an 18t fixed front sprocket and a 12t driver (sprocket) on the hub. Thats about the size of it
  23. Yeah, I could full stroke tap beforehand, either way going to a lighter gearing has helped my taps tremendously - before the front just didnt lift fast enough so I was putting the power in too early which meant that I didnt get much upwards advantage; dropping to 16:14 has meant that my tapping speed has slowed down alot and I can still put power into it yay
