  1. Hey guys. Got a question for those of you who have a bit of experience with integrated headsets as it's the first time I need to install one; I just want to double check something before I return the frame once again. A new frame I bought required the use of a tapered 42/52 integrated headset. This in itself was no issue, however, when I came to install the upper bearing it just wouldn't seat correctly. When the bearing is put in it would sit proud of the headtube and is only tight in 2 spots. In the image below the tight spots are where the arrows are. You can see there is actually a gap at the back and a less noticeable one at the front, this seems to allow the bearing to pivot around those two tight points. This meant the bearing just wouldn't seat correctly. When this happened on the first frame I measured the headtube and it seemed to be quite out of round, the widest point was ~.8mm larger than shown in the documentation on standards. As a result I returned that frame and asked for a replacement. The replacement has now arrived and it looks like the same thing is happening. Is there anything I'm missing here and just being a daft twat or is it straight up shit QC on the manufacturers part?
  2. Really liking that. Where did you try them out after hiring from Rutland? Just wondering as it's kind of boring terrain round these parts.
  3. Last I heard from Matt at Middleburn he said they were a possibility but would only do them for the X-Type ones. I've seen some narrow-wide rings with the middleburn spline made by Wolf Tooth; however, there aren't any currently available on their site. May be worth shooting them an email?
  4. Think a number of small manufacturers do them down to 36t but not seen a 34t one yet. An alternative would be to get a narrow wide spiderless ring for the 'burns.
  5. Can't say I've ever heard that about the cassette; it shouldn't make any difference on those. You can't have an odd number of teeth on the chainring though.
  6. Love how the spin pretty much syncs up with the frame rate it's shooting at.
  7. Stuff like that tends to be rather dodgy and often won't get near to outputting the stated amount before getting unstable. I'd say something like this is about as low price as you can get without straying into really shitty unstable PSU territory.
  8. New PSU time at the least. It depends on the setup but some components can be damaged doing this; you will need to test them with a new PSU before you can tell if there has been any damage.
  9. It doesn't embed youtube links that have the start time set in the url, ie this "?t=3s" bit on the end. Remove that and you're sorted.
  10. Ah that's much more home server territory. Consumer level NAS would only be alright as something like a DHCP, FTP, print or mail server.
  11. That link doesn't really have any consumer level info. For non enterprise stuff it's generally best to look at either Synology or QNAP to be honest. Something like either a Synology DS214play or QNap TS-221 are pretty much ideal for what you want. Should be no issues with compatibility and there are plenty of resources online to help setup. Also when looking at prices remember that most don't come with drives included. So for example at ~£500 you could get a DS214play with 2 3TB WD Reds.
  12. Ha, laddergoat has returned.
  13. There is a group on facebook, not sure anyone who still rides round here regularly is actually on TF.

  15. There's not really much choice in that ~£50 bracket. If you have some fans already the 200R is a decent option. That said, I think spending an extra £20 or so is worthwhile to get in the price range of something like a Fractal Arc Midi R2 or Fractal R4.
  16. Not seen a MTB version before but it's been done on a road setup a few times.
  17. Just got round to building up a new frame this evening. When putting the top integrated headset bearing in it turns out the headtube is miles out of round. Should have an ID of ~42mm but it's 42.7mm at it's widest so won't seat properly. That's some real good QC on a 1grand frame.
  18. Nice one, looks hardly used. Wish my homegrown 4 banger was in that kind of nick.
  19. They were pretty nice at the time; however, the stock back end was super flexy and much improved by a Risse rear triangle. Would make for a great retro build to cruise around on but would probably be outdone by cheap new stuff if you wanted to ride hard.
  20. That was one Biggest AMAs ever, he's still answering questions in there even now 6 days later.
  21. If it's exactly the same model/year as the image posted; those forks are ~440mm a-c and the hub is cup and cone with 10mm axle. That could be problematic. Most DJ forks use a 20mm through-axle these days, even if you can find a QR fork I don't think a solid 10mm cup and cone axle will fit.
  22. Nice, didn't realise there was quite so much choice in Leeds. Will have to try some of them next time I visit family up there.
  23. Yeah that looked really nasty, they were some big blisters.
  24. Mad bugger from round near us.
  25. As you're in Leeds you may want to make a visit to North Bar near Broadgate on New Briggate. Massive amounts of choice there but can be a bit dear.
