Dont recall the make but I took a padded soft sided bag from Aus to the US, around Canada, back to the US and back to Aus with no problem. I had a full XC bike, another frame and various other components in there. The guy I borrowed it from put a solid wooden base on it and 4 castor wheels which made it easy to lug around airports but still able to stuff into the boot of a car or collapse for storage. Get a bike box from a bike shop, cut the sides out and use that for extra protection. U'll have a crackin time in Aus. Only started trials when in this country otherwise i'd hook you up. (XC, DH, Freeride and Road I can help you with though) Oh, clean your bike, in particular the tyres.

MET Anaxagore. Nice lid, detachable visor. Anyone got the pisspot with the speakers and the stereo jack?
-
To all Bristol riders. I'll be moving there soon and know nothing about the place. Could you give me the low down on some good spots to ride. Cheers.
-
Yeah great service. I used to order stuff from Aus and it'd turn up in a few days. I was posted a slightly wrong cassette once (4 arm not 5 arm) and they offered to pay postage for return or a massive discount.

Apply pressure inside a plastic hose and it will deform radially and effectively your volume of oil is now expanding rather than trying to push your pads against the rim (or rotor). Wrap it in a steel braid and you can reduce this quite dramatically.

so dont leave us all in suspense - how did you do it?

Another vote for hairspray. Spray it along the bar, give it a light wipe with a clean rag so its tacky, slip the grip on and you're away.
-
Good luck getting it out without a spanner!!!
-
Yeah go for it man at that price. Got a 2SixH and is my 1st trials bike. Components not spectacular but u'd expect to replace them down the track anyway...
-
I dont mean to doubt you but make sure its not the rear hub. As Wayne says, strip it down and tighten it all back up.
-
Cheers for the replies. I think i'll just tape a rolled up spare tube over the offending area.

I snapped the mini perch off my Saracen today. Since I never use it I dont really want to replace it but I will have a nice bit of seat tube sticking out just waiting to eat me. For those who have removed their seats and had a similar situation what have you done? Is there a bung or a neoprene pad that is available?

Avid Juicy 7 - Doesnt Want To Bed In :(
2sixstreet replied to Joe Papasnap Maher's topic in Trials Chat
How about finding the longest and steepest hill you can, going to the top, getting some speed up on the way down and hang off the brake. Best way i've heard of for bedding in a new disc. -
If slotting the top and using a screwdriver didnt work then you may have to drill it. You dont have to destroy the threads though. Drill a hole smaller than the size of the bolt and either collapse the thread or use and 'easy-out' to extract it.

From memory Pauls Components used to make nuts CNC rear derailleur which was mega expensive but worked well and looked the part. Each piece was machined so I doubt it would be too hard to make a mirror of these parts to use on the opposite side.
-
A bit of heat might be helpful. Just be careful of the paintwork (if its painted) and the seals and bearings in the BB. I dont think excess hitting will ever ruin the frame threads. A pitman arm puller would also work but not every has one of these. Last resort if you dont need the crank then cut it off with a dremel or hacksaw.
-
There is a more subtle approach (if you dont have it sorted already). Remove the opposite crank and re-position 180 deg and do it up (so both cranks now are parallel and face each other). Put a small car jack (or the jaws of life if you know someone in the ambulance service) and wind away. Should drive off nicely.

I have to agree and disagree with comments above. Talking purely aluminium. A sizeable dent WILL cause stress raisers and eventually become a crack and a trashed frame. If the dent can be popped/squeezed out then so much the better. From experience a mate of mine dented his Cannondale XC frame which turned into a broken down tube. I dented the top tube on a Schwinn and had it popped out. No problem to date. Car panels are more cosmetic than structural. Aluminium will work harden after a couple of 'cycles' and therefore have limited 'dent' life.

Quite simply I dont have a grinder and I thought this would be a good alternative.
-
Speaking of slotting rims to remove pad glaze. I did this on the front and found it to be very effective. It keeps the pads nice and fresh which provides better braking performance without a full on grind.

Hey welcome aboard and dont let age bother you. I'm right up there myself so I know it can be done. Practice and patience. It doesnt really matter what bike you're on to get going. A reliable drive train will make you feel safer however. Maintenance could be an issue in Dubai Ryan Leech is a known trials rider who uses front suspension (and a proper seat). Whatever floats your boat really. If the fork is adjustable i'd probably slow down the compression and rebound or have it travel limited. What you doin in Dubai?
