I have: Finished my gearstick pretty much Removed stub axles from rear beam Removed the old bushes Fitted new powerflex black series bushes Wire brushed the beam Painted the rear beam Painted the stub axles So, the gearstick! I needed to lengthen the lift up reverse cable so I'm using an adapter that uses a grub screw to hold two cables in, like so! 20160617_164406 by dann2707, on Flickr Which feeds through the gearstick to the top: 20160617_164411 by dann2707, on Flickr Then I'm using a screw with a nut to clamp the cable, probably going to put some washers on that a later date as at the moment it's purely just the nut. Sturdy as though 20160617_165226 by dann2707, on Flickr I had a change in direction with the angled extension tube for the linkage side of things. I'm just waiting on my shaft collar for the lift up reverse now. Skoze Posted June 18, 2016 Report Share Posted June 18, 2016 Still had plenty of oil pressure! No idea, clattering halt, rad header split, whatever - surprisingly i'm not that gutted. Think i'll take it as a sign to stop f**king about and just give the original block to someone to get it rebuilt properly. I bored out 12mm deep of the gearstick so that the outer shaft can slide inside it. Jolfa Posted June 19, 2016 Report Share Posted June 19, 2016 Turns out a CLI is actually a JDM model, so I have a German built, Jap import in NZ all that makes it JDM really is the cat, which will be going in the bin Most of the paint on the car looks like this because mainly someone has decided to go over any scratches with a mismatched metallic blue (car is non-met) straight onto the original paint So I've spent the day with some 1200 grit, a can of cut & polish and a can of "Dark Ford Blue" for the worst parts, still a long way to go and I must fight the urge to import some cheap coilovers... 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Puts a smile on my face everytime I drive it even after those years. Absolutely no signs of me selling either and that's unusual for me. @Haz has one too. Head gasket / head went and as was bought through a trader have been fighting for 9 months to get him to pay for repair. Been through small claims , citizens advice , mediation etc etc... Ended up with me saving up the money to get it done myself , also did a fair amount of other work to it myself that I was planning to do. Anyway! Managed to get the car going after finding the egr cooler was also f**ked, got it through an mot and it ran faultlessly. Took it to work the other day and only got 2 miles down the road until it died. Started off lumpy and underpowered, got progressively worse then cut out with battery light on. Will not restart now , just cranks. Fuel is reaching filter and hpfp, battery is fine when put on another car and the glow plugs and loom all seems good ( continuity back to the main connector and glow plugs all read the same on a multimeter resistance wise. No relevant fault codes showing , just 4 that are air con related?! Id really appreciate some help, spent many hours after and before work trying to get it going to no avail. Randomly stumbled upon a local Gumtree ad for a chap selling a pair of brand new front LCR discs that had been sat in his garage a while. Should clean up nicely, and at £25 the pair rather than £100+ each I'm pretty happy with that!
