disk brake water bleed not working?

I water bled my friends disk brake a while ago (bath bleed) and the bleed went great, but after pulling the lever a couple times the brake ceased on, and wouldn't budge. even when the hoses were emptied out as there was no pressure, it was still fixed in position?

I thought I'd done something wrong, and it was my fault. but thought nothing of it, just an bad bleed or something...

but then I recently tried it again this time it with a brand new (shimano something) disk brake.

exactly the same thing happened?

what am I doing wrong?

can disk brakes not be water bled?

hey don't Captain Kirk me, not everyone has as much experience as others...

I figured it works for rim brakes so why not disk?

thanks for the help though isitafox I'll get it done as soon possible

Not being shitty but I read about not putting water in discs from pretty much day one when I came on here, any thread about it pretty much mentions not to put water in a disc. I wouldn't of taken 5 minutes to search before you did it. Just don't go putting tar on the disc next.

I did search, both on here and on observed trials.

just found various tips about what type of brake fluid to use (water was never said to not work just that it may compress after a while)

thanks for the tip about tar though ;) I'll be sure not to do it

Is he still your friend?

haha yeah but he's pissed at me

he rides a dirtjump, so he only needed his brakes not to crash and die.

so it's not that big of a deal that he doesn't have brakes anymore
