Mark W Posted January 17, 2005 Report Share Posted January 17, 2005 The thing is is that the Sites/Vids section got utterly shite recently when every thread was "Look at my new Python" or "I've just got a new ziptie on my bike (pics!)". There was a Bike Pics thread made, and people still didn't post in it. I know I saw other people kinda reminding people about it being there, so I guess that in light of them continually not posting in the bike pics thread that the Admin are looking at other options. If people had just put them in the bike pics section that was made it would've been fine. I know that generally people aren't allowed to reply in it, but do you really need people to tell you how nice your bike is so you can bask in the glory being given to you by randoms who've never met you? Either way, we now know where they are so if you want to see all the Pythons the world has to offer, just scoot to the Gallery section or something... Its not fact its hassle its just I dunno I feel as if someone wanted to show a bike they post it in the forum proper. I much prefered the Bike Pics thread, simple post your post with the 4 bike pics or whatever in and then people can click scroll and see. Although when writing that last comment I realised how the Bike Pics page was bad, like when a person posts their bike pics they get commented on and those are then not bike pic posts etc etc, and especially now when someone gets the latest frame and the forums 1000 odd regualar users decide to post "mate thats sweet" thats 1000 posts of comments not bike pics.. and I guess thats hard to solve without this gallery malarky. The only thing i used to go into site pics vids section for was the bike pics thread. The people who did use the bike pics thread are getting punished for other peoples actions, most of the "i got a newstink nugget on my tyre" posts were mostly by "just through the net newbies". As i said if someone is willing to stick up an old style uploader and allow a stickied bike pics thread/sub forum i will gladly keep an eye and moderate it. If it fails ill accept a big told you so. I didnt start this as a i want something to gripe about thread, i started it because i honestly reckon its what the majority of the user would like, especially those of us who were here before the change to gallery. Posted January 17, 2005 Report Share Posted January 17, 2005 (edited) bah people just like to show there bikes all trialers are mates really if you see a trials rider out an your out, you would approach them would you not? so its the same here people are just trying to show other riders what they got an what they thik about it, its more reassurance than anything else, (Y) as for the gallery man it sucks, a half random pic of a bike where its hardly worth commenting. make it atleast like the trials nation set up if your goner do something, that way you can see the full pic and comment simple! I dont see why we HAVE to just post pics of bikes, leave it open for discussion, this is a FORUM! open for discussion of trials and the bike and parts we use to ride. Davetrials, if we didnt delete comments in the bike pics thread your looking at about 100-200 pages of replies and 10 pages of pics, you can argue all you want that you prefer to wade through an unmoderated bike pics thread than look at a page with all the thumnails infront of you, but I wont believe you. Anyone can tell me that they can moderate it no problem, but I bet my anal virginity that you will get bored of it after you have done it once, again 6 hours later, again the next day etc etc. Being a moderator is not fun, ask.. a moderator. Im not saying that it wont be hard to moderate and i know you's guys are snowed under with "thatz kool man" posts and the only way i could think to solve that is if you let me access to that one thread for bike pics i will take care of it on my own. This was the users like myself and others that post on this thread can get the bike pics thread and also the you and the admin/mod's dont have to worry about sifting through shite daily. A little sub forum down below chit chat would be handy as people could then just have one little forum just for bke pics. Or maybe just another topic for peoples comments? _________________________________________________________________________ Though it may be a little silly just to do this for people that want to see some bikes, why don't all the people whining about it so much just start their own website, have their own forum, with all the bike pictures they'd ever want, with loads of people commenting on them. I think the mods / admin might have better things to do, if you (put your self in their place) had uni stuff or other dedications, you wouldn't wanna come home to the forum you pay to run with people bitching at you, when there's already an option for them to do what they wanna do, just that they're being petty and are afraid of change - why should you give a shit? Or maybe we shouldn't have the gallery, or any pictures, or any of our own uploading space at all, and just use Trials-Nation, as that's exactly what the place is for, posting a picture and people commenting. I'm not trying to start arguments, I just think people should maybe look at the situation a little differently, this forum's very good, very pretty leniant, with alot of funky features that all of us members can use, so when asked to make use of the funky features, I personally don't think people should just disregard it and say we want something else. Members still can post pictures for people to comment on too! Just somewhere else on the forum, I think it just needs some time for people to get into the swing of using the gallery more often. I think Trials-Nation's alright, it can do all the things which you guys are wanting, yes it's not trials-forum, and yes the people on their type like complete clowns making it hard for English people, let alone the foreign users to understand it. This makes it easier for us as we dont have to go through everything to keep it tidy, PLUS you get to comment on you 'kin bikes. About the subforum, it already is a fecking subforum!! Just click on it and post your picture. If you want to comment on a picture (which may I remind you, you werent allowed to do before) click the ******** comment button. You actually tell the admins why you don't like it. Then maybe they can fix it, instead of simply disregarding it. As whats the use in simply removing it because the user's don't like it. How about you actually make the effort to help fix it. "My car's windscreen wiper broke, so i got a new car" :blink: I can understand you like things simple, but the gallery can be simple if you help the admins with the reasoning's behind your dislike to it.
