  1. f**king spot on. When i was 17 my parents were very pushy for me to do well academically, now theyve realised its not where i belong theyve calmed down. I'm pretty close to sacking my studies altogether, but theyve bought me enough time to figure out what i want to do. If you want to stick two fingers up at your 'rents and get decent marks, really try spacemunkee's technique, past papers really do work, with less effort than most other methods. If its anything to think about, the two happiest men i know have pretty poorly thought-of jobs and sod all money, but theyre doing what they love. Find something you like doing, everything else will fall into place >_<
  2. Because its the static pad, I've found that usually it'll stay put despite not having the knob to lock it. Bit more crap will get in it, bit of tape should sort that.
  3. Get the old bearings out and look for a type number, should be on the black rubber seals each side. Then have a gander through yellow pages for engineers suppliers (or you might be lucky and find a specialist bearing suppliers), and get some new uns. Shouldnt be much money, if you try and bodge them back together the housings and axle usualy get wrecked, which is a damn sight more expensive.
  4. ginger f**king arab seems to be used a lot in the yard at the moment :ermm:
  5. 14 mm is about the shortest you can do, anything longer is pointless
  6. that last bit doesnt sound good (Y) ive PM'ed you my number.
  7. You just apply huge ginger powers of destruction though (Y)
  8. To be fair, you sound a little older than most people on this forum, so your gonna have a problem with kids thinking they know best, especially if theyre right and show you up :P Bike Tarts, mmm, go and see what the XC lot can do on that front with a proper job and some money behind them, its miles beyond anything ive seen trials riders do. Locals at comps, yeah, that can seem up themselves. Who's bothered? If you talk to them 95% would appreciate a nice chat and some help with their bike/stuff/whatever if theyre in bother :) End of the day, youve got wound up by a bunch of kiddies, i'd sod it and go to the pub personally rather than bust a lung.
  9. Gauge plate is a medium alloy steel, easily hardenable and usually supplied in accurately ground flat sections, for making jigs, dies, gauges and the like. Hellishly expensive would sum it up well.
  10. Its to get more standover height (bollock clearance  ) without having a stupidly small frame. A gently curved top tube like in the t-bird isnt much of a problem as far as strength goes.
  11. burns? what burns :- there's charitable, then there's certifiable, especially considering the lovely letter i got about my overdraft this morning (Y)
  12. Baracuda subway frame, if you want such an abomination to ride (Y)
  13. Never before have i been so impressed by deathly silence. I want one of those.
  14. what the hell has the density of the alloy got to do with the price of eggs? :)
  15. Flange is bigger on the non drive side, its a cunning design.
  16. Does sound like the BB is bent, cranks rarely go like that in my experience. On the puller front, the ones with inbuilt handles can be a pain sometimes, the handle fouls pedals on short cranks, and you cant always get your fingers beween the handle and the crank sometimes. I'd go for this one
  17. It'll take the 12 tooth fixed cog, but your right in a way, it'll only take freewheels bigger than 16t
  18. Ive said it before, vested interests and basic economics, nothing higher.
  19. All the results demonstrate is that the bike industry is geared up to produce alloy frames cheaply. No one in their right mind would sanction building a more expensive frame to compete on (reynolds tubing is about 100 quid a set, compared to u6 at probably a tenner). Just vested interests, thats all.... If you convince vincent to ditch koxx, i'll find a steel frame that he will win on.
