    Old Man Checking In

we'll remember to show that little feeling next time you trip over a kerb..... (Y)
  2. you load the pedals up with the back brake on, then as you release the brake, stop pushing the pedals and lift up, then stick the brake back on as you come back down.
  3. The plastic ones i got free with onza grips lasted well, nearly two years. I've some ODI thugplugs now, alloy ends, and have been nothing but impressed with them (Y)

    Mavic Rim

Might be 35 mil over the outside, but the D321 ive got in front of me is 29 mil smack on the nose internally. Same with the 719's on my xc bike, 19 mil internal width.

    Mavic Rim

The last two numbers are the internal width of the rim in mm
  6. Bit serious dontcha think? laying into the scots could be far funnier :S

    Mavic Rim

25 mil internally, so its gonna be 29 ish over the outside.
  8. Llonger hose, new disc 20mm smaller (or a plus 20 adaptor), new lever. That lots gonna cost more if you buy it new than a complete secondhand brake.
  9. damn right, south of the border we do things properly (Y)
  10. oooooh, gossip, who was that then? (Y)
  11. mech eng is maths, thats pretty much it (Y)
  12. I dont think there are many cars that can put out the kind of power that evo has, comfortably or otherwise. Ralliart are constricted by the construction and use regulations in this country, and also by the fact they dont want warranty returns every day, so they tune the cars sensibly, same as prodrive do for the scooby-do's. I'd be proud of that car if i'd built it, since when does it matter what it looks like from the outside if you built it to drive?
  13. If you cant get the brake on the rim properly, then your gonna need a half link to sort the problem, or a new chain if the old one is particularly worn.
  14. Is that the exhaust sticking out in front of the nearside front wheel? And the evo is going to need LOTS of air moving around, hence the bodywork. 500 brake out of 5 litres is sod all compared to 750 out of 2......
  15. Common rail is the design, not a trademark of Ford. Like Bucky said, constant high pressure in the rails and electrically operated injectors. Most lorrys are direct injection, thats why theyre so damn noisy. Its cars that have been indirect for a long time to keep them quiet. Common rail has been brought in to make quiter direct injection engines that'll meet the emissions regs. The fuel isnt vapourised, its atomised. Small point, but its the reason the thing works in the first place......

    Emo?

you can go get yourself run over a bit faster.....
  17. Putting a gentle curve in the spoke with your fingers usually works, if you're careful and dont kink it, it pulls out when you tension the wheel ;)
  18. How the f**k is that not assault :) Gotta be some serious questions asked if the three lads dont get the book thrown at them for what they've done.
  19. Front cog would be 21 if you want the same, getting a 21 chainring is difficult, so 22 will work, be slightly harder and work with the extra length of the cranks to give a similar ratio. And it does make a difference :P
  20. 24:16 is exactly the same as 18:12, i'd get used to the longer cranks, 22:14 would be harder, may suit your current cranks.
  21. yeah, marzocchis' lock the compression damping, so it'll lead to blown seals if you really thump it, although most systems like that will blow open if you hit them hard enough anyway. What would be good is locking on the rebound circuit, like Pace RC40's, but I dont think there are cheap/short forks that do that :-
  22. Where do you find a paraplegic? wherever you left him.
  23. The bmx mini race (160 quid) hub is the one most people use. The cheaper one doesnt have a quoted weight, so its probably quite a bit heavier. Its pretty likely you're gonna need new spokes, possibly a new rim, but if its megamo standard then it should be a 36 hole rim anyway.
  24. If it was a pure business thing, Mike would've had the python straight off the shelf like Ads said. The version of the '04 python copy I saw was highly experimental, much more than just a copy. It didnt fare very well in testing, so it wasnt made. The world moved on before it was ready. This new frame could be in the shops next week, you dont know how long its been in testing, or how good it is, or even what its made out of.
