  1. People using ideas from great books incorrectly is something that irks me, sorry. Room 101 is from 1984 by George Orwell, it is the room where they take the hero of the book to confront him with his ultimate fear, so as to break him mentally. The idea of room 101 is that they thing you most fear and despise reside there...
  2. WRONG just because he uses them doesn't mean he doesn't change wheels every week or so...
  3. My all time favorite: Ned "Where's your seat?", Me "It shrunk in the wash." Kept a straight face and everything.
  4. Yeah, but there's a reason we respect Davey, and it's cos he doesn't just go "f**k you".
  5. Right, once you've got the tension in the chain right, even with chain stretch the geometry of the bike will change VERY little. We're talking, say the chain stretches a centimeter, and the radius of the axis of the outer shell to that of the bb is 5 centimeters then using S=r@ @=angle moved through, S is the chain stretch and r is the radius, I know that's an approximation but it will do, @=S/r=1/5 radian. A radian is approximately 60 degrees, so it will move through an angle of 12 degrees, feck all really...
  6. Jack is gonna get dropped right in it when Juliet shows her true colours. Just to clear a few things up, Danielle was not born on the island I think, and at the end of this episode Ben refers to "Ethan's old medicine drop point" where Juliet will find the cure for Claire, so Sun will probably need the medicine too.
  7. Well, the thing is, dad asked AmEx to make an inquiry and they cut us off, but other than that the company have been excellent. Also BT is pretty expensive for international calls, and my mum has a lot of family abroad.
  8. Please help me help my parents oh wise people of TF. Right, my Dad had this thing set up on our phone, it's called an indirect access code, cheap calls, from these people: 18866. So checking through his bill for AmEx he noticed a charge he didn't recognize, and called AmEx who said they would inquire on his behalf. Next thing we know they've cut us off. They have no call center, and pride themselves on this, stating one should email them, but so far no replies have been received, he's sent them 4 emails. So guys, anyone know how we can get unblocked...? Dave
  9. I believe dave85 on here can do it, and I think fat mike did it a while back too, pop them a PM or something...
  10. To tighten the cones you shouldn't need to remove the cassette lock ring, I think Adam is right with the axle snapping.
  11. When you say they twisted, you are aware you have to an Allen key in each end and push on one and pull on the other, it'll be REALLY tight, so don't be afraid of giving it a fair bit of pasty. Then you can tighten up the cone (the thing with the grooves in it on the non drive side) and tighten the hub back up.
  12. Try Zip tying your seat to the top tube, will make it look a thousand times better.
  13. Mike that bike is 'core.
  14. I do believe that malleability can be reduced by including copper in the alloy then heat treating it, might make it work....
  15. I reckon I could do quite a lot of that stuff on it's own, just not as an assault course. What a total nutter.
  16. You say you have riding mates, go out with them then, just take off to the nearest big city to chill in a big park. Sorry for answering the question, but I am Dave, not quite Davey, but maybe I'll do.
  17. I'll try this, but I hate the way that after climbing it takes 3 or 4 good washes with soap before all the chalk has come off.
  18. When that frame came out I had just moved to a dirt jumping frame with rigids from an 18" trek 4100. That was old school, I still love that trek, shame it got nicked. You and me andy, old men of TF.
  19. The words Old School spring to mind. I almost bought one, but decided a giant was better, cos it came with more free stuff.
  20. I'm "Revising" and my bike is at uni, and it's not so sunny up here.

Contact whoever you bought them from, I assume they are new, then tell them you think you have a crack and ask them for permission to check by sanding away the lacquer. Dave.
  22. In general I've found that most natural style riders prefer trials bars, however there's no harm in trying something new, and if you don't like them I'm sure there's a street rider who's be happy to take them off your hands.
  23. Things from before I got to uni: £120.50. Total: £440.60. Only been there 2 terms.
