  1. I've got TR hubs with white trialtech square holed front and sport rear in white. I'd recommend the front definately for strength/weight/price but the rear rim is an absolute arse to get a tyre on. I dread to think what's gonna happen if I ever get a puncture miles from home as it won't be a quick fix job, will be changing my rear wheel build at some point I reckon! 2. Cheers guys, can get that fitted this week now. CalopS, you goin to British cup on the 17th??
  3. I've just bought a Trialtech titanium bashring 2nd hand and I'm going to fit it to my Trialtech cranks with Echo SL freewheel. The thing I was wondering though is on Tartybikes it says they should be used with a 1.5mm spacer if fitted to a crank with FFW but the previous owner never bothered as I don't think he had one either so can anyone tell me if they have one and if they use it?? And also if I should use one where can I buy such an item??
  4. Advantages-Ground clearance due to smaller ring (unless you run 'burns that is), generally a lighter setup than running a rear freehub, weight is distributed more evenly as no heavy mechanics on the rear wheel (Hope pro 2 is 427g + cassette or sprocket, Echo TR is 219g + sprocket), some will say they like the sound, generally cheaper. Disadvantages-Some will say they hate the sound, chain permanantly moving so trousers get shredded very easily, no use for street trials because of chain turning constantly That's all I can think of in terms of pros and cons, coming from oldskool trials like yourself I was a bit unsure to begin with but now I run FFW I wouldn't go back. I like the fact that you save quite a bit in terms of weight from the backend, cheaper to buy and maintain (buy an Echo SL, fit it and thats it) and I generally trust it more. All it means is instead of having a freehub on the rear your hub has either a spline or a thread and a fixed rear sprocket on. It's (yet again in trials) purely a personal preferance thing, people who run FFW's will swear they're miles better than freehubs and likewise people running freehubs swearing they're miles better than FFW's. If your in the situation where your gonna need to buy a new rear wheelbuild I'd recommend going the whole hog and getting set for a FFW, if you already have a Pro 2 or can get one cheap then stick with it as you'll never have to buy another, especially with Hopes unbelievable customer service. Bit of a random answer but there you go!
  5. I get my boots on the cheap from my cousins wife who works at adidas so I put major supplier. And the price thing will be a bit rigged as well but nevermind!
  6. If you don't know what a helicoil is have a search on youtube, I'm sure there's a few vids on there to show you how it's done.
  7. Something not quite right there?! Seriously though get a der kaiser, it wont really matter about the tube then. I run a bog standard halfrauds one with mine, have bottomed out on the edge of walls and ledges loads and not pinched it yet. And if it won't fit then attack it with a stanley knife, I did with mine to get it to fit and it's spot on, not lost any grip from trimming it!
  8. If you can afford it go for the trialtech.
  9. I'd say that £100 was a bargain. Get the bottom bracket sorted, a helicoil in the maggie mounts and a few tweaks like a new chain an that'll be a great starter bike! As for the quick release and front wheel I wouldn't worry too much, I've been running both my bikes with quick releases and the wheel should still be upto the job!
  10. My mod OFFICIALY doesn't belong anywhere near natty trials!!! Or maybe I'm just pants at it!

Nah, will keep that on the street. Use my real bike for jumping on rocks!

  11. I think you just have to file a bit off the hs33 levers to get them to fit, Stan from tartys runs his with a maggie lever so may be worth pming him about it!
  12. I'm struggling with pads on my mod, I've got my cylnders set as far away as possible but they still rub the rim. I currently have some of Ali C's joypad material in old Heatsink backings but they're far too thick so need changing so which is thinner, new style heatsinks, TNNs or phats??
  13. Will hopefully get a chance to do some filming in the next week or so so I'll blend a few of my old stuff with my current. Still not great but definately better and more confident!
  14. Gives me a lot of confidence that mate, I only get a couple of hours a week and after seeing your last vid I've started pushing myself into stuff that's been out of my comfort zone. Really opened my eyes to whats possible, even though you are a moto champ!!

  16. Apart from the big dopey cables, trimmed the rear once but it may need a bit more off! Cheers for the comment though!!
  17. Out of interest Gary how many hours a week practice do you get in??
  18. Last pics now and final build with trialtech forks and 2011 HS11's front and rear, i promise!!
  19. To get the rust off will require a bit of oil and a wire brush on the cassette to clean it up though id recommend replacing that and the chain with new from tartybikes. For the hs11's you'll need an evo adaptor kit again from tartys and as for the rim grind have a look in the manual under workshop at the top of the page!
  20. And I'd learn how to hook last of all as that is quite an advanced move probably concentrate on sidehops and moves to front wheel first. Bit advanced this as it's a massive sidehop but good to watch in slo-mo
  21. Must say mixmaker that I love the vids you put out on here. Some huge riding going on around your side of the world, would love to just have the balls to attempt stuff like that never mind be good enough to pull it off!!
  22. I think v brake booster will fit as the evo adaptors are made to fit on standard v mount spacing, will have to be a 2 bolt job though!
