  1. I can't say a whole bunch because I rarely wear mine but get yourself a helmet. You'll be glad you have it someday. Other than that you seem to have the basic techniques down pretty well.
  2. It's a girls bike but it looks awesome.
  3. I'm using lite guys still, came with my t-rex and when I got a new frame I just swapped em over. I've never had any problems with them, though I'm not doing hooks or anything huge just yet. They're probably more flexy than modern forks but then I haven't had a chance to compare them with any others for long enough to tell.
  4. Sweeeeeeeet, loved every bit of that.
  5. Yeah that was a nice video and some great riding.
  6. Ha Ha yeah this one was my mums. It was sitting in the shed for years and I thought it would be a fun project to get it running again. Used spare parts from my other bikes at the moment but I may get more suitable parts in time. Don't think a chain device is necessary really . Took it for a 15 mile ride there at the weekend, it rides real nice.
  7. Cool so here it is. http://youtu.be/J5RosML-eMU Basically just pivot 180 on the front wheel and then 180 on the back wheel. If you can bunny hop 180 then pivot on the back even better. In fact pretty much any variation of the move will do me.
  8. Is it time up yet? I've a move recorded though it's not what I wanted it to be due to the sudden change in weather. I can upload it anyway if it's my turn.
  9. Now heres a bike that I'm pretty sure was made before I was born. Well the frame anyway. I may have made some slight modifications.... Excuse the terrible paint work, I do intend to have it repainted one of these days. Oh and yes that is a disk mount welded to the fork.
  10. Time for my cameo http://youtu.be/ty1aWrKqlAE Are we going to keep this fairly simple so more people can join or are we going to slowly start ramping up the difficulty?
  11. Dam he's got some balls. Bet it's pretty hard riding there though with the weather they've been having lately.
  12. I'm pretty sure they were the former not the latter. I preferred the second one mostly because I love that song.
  13. One of the reasons I don't really like riding on my own, particularly in isolated areas and high objects. Hope he recovers fully soon.
  14. This is the university of Limerick and yeah we have a pump track. You wouldn't believe how long it took us to get it though, well over two years as far as I know. We'd love to expand on that and make bigger berms and pumps but again we were limited to a certain height for insurance reasons. All good ideas for materials/obstacles guys and getting quotes from companies would be just the sort of thing we need. I'm going to have to have a big discussion with my committee as to whether or not I should really pursue this as trials riders are really quite a small percentage of our club. So once I know I have the full backing or not of my club I can go ahead and really get cracking.
  15. Yeah thanks guys. A good part of our challenge is to explain what trials is to management and we think we've got that part down, the amount of good vids helps a lot. We're going to try to get permission to ride in certain areas while we put together a long term plan and raise funds for anything we get permission to build. The good thing is that our uni is very pro-clubs so it shouldn't be too hard to convince them. Their concern is all to do with insurance which I'm sure we're all used to in this day and age, even though our club has it's own insurance. With have a guy, Cormac for those that know him, who is a mechanical engineer and is going to do up a design on the ol computer but he's pretty busy with work atm. Anyways we'll keep working at it and I'll keep you updated on how it's going.
  16. So guys as some of you may know I'm president of a university mtb club over here in Ireland and we've a few trials riders including myself. Now we've been riding on the university campus for years because it has good stuff, without getting into trouble. But just before christmas the buildings department decided they'd had enough and banned us from riding there any more. This is pretty annoying seen as it was our main spot. However they have said that if we put a formal proposal together and came up with plans and estimated costs that we could possibly build a designated area by our pump track that would be just for our use. Now my question is, has anyone who has done something similar got any advice? The one thing they have said is that they don't want it looking tatty so no pallets allowed. This makes it tricky I think as it's going to mean mainly natural sort of stuff like rocks etc I think. We may be able to get away with a couple of concrete walls etc but they want it to fit in with the campus grounds. I think this is pretty silly as the area it's to be located is way off the main part of the campus. Anyway I'm open to any ideas people have but we are on kind of a budget as our club will be covering at least half the cost I think. Of course anyone is welcome to come over once it's done and if your into mtb, we could show you some of our local trails, pretty awesome singletrack. Who knows, we may even be able to hold comps in the future Well one can dream.

    Slowly Pedals

I don't know, I quite liked it. There was a couple of bits that didn't need to be in there and took up time especially in slow-mo but overall I thought it was good.
  18. Yep pretty much like that minus the brand names. Good find/memory.
  19. Black with a blue lightning bolt ghosted into. Done properly like. Kinda like this Obviously the lightning would have to be painted on and as I understand it's quite difficult on anodised suffices. Shame cause I like the look anodising gives.
  20. Good god, for those of you that have said get a disk brake not all of us ride mods. On a stock a good rim brake will be loads better than a disk and the only brakes that might be good enough are saints or hope's. At the price they cost you might as well just get your rim coated and use the rim brakes you already have. As for brakeless again it is much harder on a stock. I know there are a few riders out there but they're mostly riding inspireds not tgs rigs. And finally for those that say just use smooth rims, NO. A rim with a grind is much better, I know because I put a grind on today after leaving it for a couple of months because I had gotten fed up with my rim slipping. So if you have any more complaints please don't post them, just let people buy what they want. It's not like they're forcing it upon you. Personally I hope this is the last post. I won't be reading any more anyway. Oh by the way I'm surprised nobody has even mentioned the fact that grinders are a pretty dangerous tool. It only takes one slip and .......
  21. Well I personally really like the idea. If I was getting a new rim I'd probably go for this if it was cheaper. As said it would be cheaper if say a few of us got it done at the same time in a large batch. Problem is there isn't really any other riders over here in Ireland I could bundle it in with. The thing I love about trials bikes is that you don't have to go messing about adjusting things. You don't have to adjust derailers or suspension settings or anything else that comes with standard bikes. So why should we have to mess around grinding our rims. I just want to grab my bike and go and ride not mess about in the shed with a grinder.
