  1. Until you posted I had zero knowledge of the guy other than he is another gun death statistic. My very basic search left me a bit baffled as you’re right, I would class you as a kind decent human being, but the main headlines for this guy are views that are incredibly right wing, intolerant and quite frankly dangerous. The way you posted made me think that I was missing something, but I’ve not found anything different, so if I’m missing something please tell me? If politically that’s what you side with that’s fine, I’m not going to persuade to become a lefty liberal. I can understand how you might in that scenario respect someone like that - to get in the position they were, and promote the things they believe in, sure. But I just don’t understand how you can call any of those behaviours nice. Strong - sure. Hardlined yes. Like did he also do a shit load of charity or something? So to be honest I still don’t understand your original post and still feel like I’m missing something.
  2. Please just tell me one thing decent about him. It would be nice to think everyone has good qualities, alongside let’s say other stuff. Edit: I guess my post doesn’t make it clear that is what I was after! Like Mike said, just a bit shocking given the headline features of the guy.
  3. Ok yes, it’s bad when people get murdered, and always sad for people who know him and family etc. I’m in no way legitimising what happened to him (it’s awful) but… here is just a section of his wiki page, and he doesn’t sound in any way a “nice human” in fact he sounds like someone I would dislike immensely (to put it mildly) A key ally of Donald Trump, he espoused a variety of conservative stances, including opposition to abortion, gun control, DEI programs, and LGBT rights. His more controversial views included his criticism of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Martin Luther King Jr., his promotion of COVID-19 misinformation and false claims of electoral fraud in 2020, and his opposition to immigration.
  4. The f40 has been glacial! I don’t necessarily mind that but it’s drawn attention to some of the other nonsense. The guy has gone to great lengths to model the f40 and 3d scan a real f40 and to model the engine in the car and design a jig for the suspension points. All sensible stuff and actually interesting. But he then has spent like 1 episode per single chassis tube bend that he has basically done by eye. The thing that has baffled me in this episode is that all the stiffening he has put in he has just put in by eye with just a “that looks strong” or “that looks neat”! Also the main tubes from the dashboard down to the front of the car seem totally mental. Yes they look nice but they diagonally bisect the main top suspension points mounting positions which doesn’t seem particularly sensible especially when the angle of that tube is completely aesthetic. Also sending the tubing all the way to the very front of the car seems completely pointless? Surely it only really needs to go to the suspension points as the rest from there onwards is just for hanging a cf body panel and isn’t particularly useful structurally? I can’t imagine legs needing to go past that point. All these odd design/build method clashes have just made me hyper aware every time he says a measurement in inches or says “chassis”. I'm still gonna watch as I’ve invested the time, and I love f40s edit: oh and I nearly lost it when he measured one of the bottom braces of the chassis in situ like a crazy person and had to spend ages with a grinder making it fit properly
  5. I used to enjoy stanceworks videos, but the f40 series has been a letdown. The latest issue is just plain dumb.

    Kids bikes

Yeah the 24” frames were like £30! But I think I’ve done ok. The 24” version of Griffs current bike was £550 and that is a bit pants. I think I’ll be able to sell it for the same or more than I’ve paid when he is done with it.

    Kids bikes

So after an age of looking at kids bikes and not liking any, or the prices... I found a nukeproof cub scout frame for £100. its a cool thing. Total spend got a little out of hand but had some fun building it and the wheels. Had a random bonus at work so... Rockshox 130mm Recon RL (waay overkill but meh they were cheap, run a good amount of sag) Dartmoor raptor 30mm rims on DT clones 142*12. Maxxis minions tubeless. 9 speed 11-42 proper clutch rear mech. 28t up front on 150mm cranks (24mm shimano type steel splined axle). Gives an equivalent of my 32/50T 29er. Clarks 4pot brake clones (really really nice and dirt cheap) Its completely daft and Griff can't ride it the way it should be, but he needs all the help he can get at the moment, so I went for it. It needs some finishing off - pedals and some lower bars for sure, some crank/chainline adjustment but its pretty mega.
  8. Well, just for information... I went with Dartmoor Raptor 24" rims. The ERD listed is wrong, so beware anyone building those rims. bit of a waste of money on a set of spokes
  9. Im looking at these for my sons bike. Can you run these tubeless ? Not going to need huge pressure ! I really like tubeless as a system.
  10. I ran mine double disc! But it cracked on the chain stay near the bottom bracket strengthening plate Its one of very few frames Ive ever broken.
  11. Is there a dt option for trials? I also like the system?
  12. I’m sure I watched this at the time, but I’m so old I’ve forgotten 🤣. It’s absolutely awesome. edits forever.
  13. How’s the pro5 (did you get an ss?) going? I’ve been enjoying riding again so much that it might be time to get a proper hub and step it up a little. Nicely coinciding with the death of my ultra cheap china special! I’ve always had good results with hope and they are waaaaaaay cheaper than the i9s etc.
  14. further update. the ratchet ring is losing teeth. I think one went and because it's a toothed pawl design (maybe used a weaker ring) there is a small (possibly growing) section of about 5 teeth that the corner has come off. there is also evidence of enough flex on a drop or gap that the free hub body is hitting the teeth (possibly the main culprit of the first tooth loss ?) anyway - if you were riding anything else but trials and used bolt through for the extra stiffness these hubs are a good choice 🤣
  15. That’s bloody lovely!
  16. 1997 beast of the east…
  17. I accidentally another cannondale…
  18. Just as an update to no one who is interested. I bought the hassns pro7s for the cannondale and I have been riding very very low level trials on them for 6months with no issues. I’ve also been running some goldix super light dt copies on the road bike for over a year. The only issue is the bearings died in the goldix (pretty much no sealing) both are loud as f**k but have never skipped (touch wood). Bearings are pretty much the only thing I’m worried about in the hassns but there is pretty much zero chance of riding them in the rain 🤣
  19. Massive bump, but did anything come of this? Has anyone managed to mod those forks into 1 1/8th steerer rigid?
  20. finally built a case. its not really a lot smaller but its a lot better. It looks shit in the pictures as I cba to clean it up but it is way better to use. I also upgraded it so it's now Spotify connect capable which is a bit of a bonus.
  21. Can you not just drain the system down?
  22. How anyone voted for him at all, regardless of their political leanings is a mystery to me. He is unable to function as a human being in society, let alone run it. A quick google on any of his incredible random ramblings proves that. My particular favourite is trump on sharks and electric boats in full. It doesn’t make me happy but it does make me laugh. What does make me happy is… My headshok damper is now full of oil again, the fork seems to hold some air and is pretty smooth. Combined with the bearing service it’s actually working pretty well! Crap trials riding back on.
