    Tendonitis?

Not that a PhD would be in any way useful - Medical Doctors don't have PhDs (well, unless they've done two degrees), they have MBChB or MBBS after their name (In this country). If you go to a GP, I guarantee that they'll just say to rest it and take ibuprofen. If you go to a physio they might have more of an idea but anyway there's actually very little you CAN do anyway. Plus you'll probably have to pay to see one unless you know any.
  2. HDMI is only needed for playing copyrighted HD content I think (I.e. Blu-ray/HD-DVD). But you can use it for connecting anything if you want. The xbox360 / PS3 will attach via component leads - you have to pay extra for the HDMI leads and not all xboxs are capable of HDMI-output anyway.

    Tendonitis?

Don't blame me if you f**k yourself up. <-- That's the important bit. BUT I tried to find out about this a while ago when I had tendinitis pretty much like you describe. I got it from climbing but riding was also affected. Basically there is no evidence to suggest that rest really helps that much. I looked on some climbing forums and they basically said that there's nothing you can do to speed up recovery, but that actually stressing it doesn't affect recovery time either. I would say if it's really bad, rest it. But when I had it, it was painful but I could climb/ride through the pain and I was fine. Take some Ibuprofen or something.
  4. There are two main different kinds of HD - 720 and 1080 (and it's not dpi by the way ). It basically means the resolution - 720 means 1280*720, and 1080 means 1920*1080. So you can see there's a pretty big difference between the two standards, with one being 0.92megapixels and the other being 2.07 (I.e. twice the resolution). To compare, non-HD TVs are 720*576. So if you want full HD, it has to be 1080. But you will pay quite a lot more for that, and I think I'm right in saying that you have to get something bigger than 32" for 1080 (Up to 32" you only get 720). But blu-ray and HD-DVD will still work fine on 720 screens, you just don't get the full effect. I'm not sure how much difference this really makes though. HDMI is the input - it's just a type of connector. But yes, it's designed for HD.
  5. Chill out dude. You can't imagine what that situation would be like. And don't swear so much, it's annoying.
  6. Your freewheel will turn the wrong way.
  7. You may be thinking of The Selfish Gene. I've not read it, but I gather that it's about the idea that DNA exists only to replicate itself - that DNA is not something that we require to live, rather humans are something to allow DNA to replicate and spread. Might have to read it actually, sounds interesting. In my mind, the problem with the idea of fate is the powerlessness that goes with it. If you resign everything to fate, where is the incentive to try and make something happen, or do something with your life? Purely for that reason I don't believe in fate. Believing in fate can only really lead to bad outcomes, whereas believing in you choosing your own path is a much better path. Whether fate exists or not (which has got to be impossible to determine anyway?) is largely irrelevant - it's whether you believe in it that makes a difference.
  8. Do you REALLY think that? No one buys a computer because it makes them look cool. Actually there are some dickheads somewhere that might, but most people wouldn't. I know the impression of Mac users can be of some self-righteous fool trying to 'convert' people, but that's definitely the minority and you're daft to assume they're the only people who buy Macs. People buy them because they're easy and friendly to use, and more importantly they're nice to use. If that sort of thing appeals, go and buy one. If not, move along. The glowy Apple thing is quite cool and it doesn't affect the computer in any way. I refuse to believe it costs Apple an awful lot to cut a hole in the back for the light to shine through. So why not? It's the same attention to detail that's in loads of places on Mac hardware and in OS X. I guess a card reader might be good, but I've got one in the drawer right next to me so it's not a big deal for me.

    Full Cnc Frame

Depends who you talk to really. For a street frame, I reckon 74 - nice and steep. For a pure trials frame, between 70 and 72.5 I think.

    Headphones.

I have some Sennheiser Mx510s and I don't rate them at all. I think they were about £15 and I'm sure the more expensive ones are good, but these are not a huge amount better than the bog-standard ones you get with MP3 players. Plus they're really uncomfortable. Basically I'm saying just because they're Sennheiser doesn't mean they're automatically good.
  11. Only with my iPod (Got a brand new one no-questions-asked on the very last day of the warranty ). For my laptop, the other thing is that there was a battery recall when Sony recalled nearly all of its batteries (apple batteries are/were made by Sony). But all that meant was that I got a new free battery out of it (kept the old one as a spare).
  12. Right - Am I being dumb here? Which elbow is 'on top' when you fold your arms? I don't understand. Her left elbow?

    Full Cnc Frame

You asked that in this thread... And got an answer. Yes, steeper head angles makes for faster steering but that doesn't really make much difference when all you're doing is hopping around. Steeper head angles are better on streetier frames IMO as they're more fun for front wheel/spinny things and the disadvantages (I.e. less good for taps/hooks) are less relevant on that kind of bike.

  15. Yeah, I am pretty lucky - not gonna deny that. But my student loan this year is only £574/term which is less than half what you get so I don't exactly have money to burn at the moment.
  16. Er... yeah. If you think a computer like that is good, then it's no wonder you don't like Macs. Besides, that's nearly twice the price of the most expensive mac laptop anyway. I'd have a Macbook Pro every time over that monstrosity. Bleurgh. Do you really think that all people that buy Macs are idiots who buy out of date hardware and like using rubbish operating systems? Can't believe I'm bothering to argue to be honest. Need the 'special olympics' picture right now.
  17. lol, I'm regular (left foot forwards) on a snowboard/ sliding across ice and right foot forwards on a bike. The sliding across a floor thing is the best test for snowboarding. If you know someone will push you in the chest, you have too much time to think about it which means you won't necessarily put out the foot that's most natural. You need to get someone to push you from behind when you don't know it's coming.

Yeah but all forks have some degree of rake. Also, pretty much all trials forks are very similar in the amount of 'trail' they have (Trail = distance between a straight line through the head tube and the front dropout), so you just need to design a frame around that. As I understand it, you're only designing frames (Feel free to correct me on that ) so you can just make your frames relative to other designs without worrying about what the forks are doing. However, If your calculations are correct, I'd be intruiged to know how a bike with a 66.25 degree head angle and completely straight fork would ride. I'm guessing the steering would be weird (which is why the the current setup has evolved) but not sure that's an issue on a trials bike. Hmmm.
  19. QUOTE (Ben b @ Jan 7 2008, 04:17 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Me being shit haha. my rims f**ked and loose there fore someone told me you need a tigh wheel build for coustsso im not being shit monkey boy/ Wow
  20. Maybe, but the first stig (the black one) was just one guy - Perry McCarthy.
  21. Well, I can kinda see the point, and it's means-tested, so I guess the government have calculated that my Mum can afford to give me some dollah. My parents almost cover my rent which is very useful (I'd have to get a huge loan otherwise), and I don't feel too bad about it because if I was at home I'd be costing them food money, bills etc. Then I work (occasionally) and use my loan for food/bills/whatever. I suppose if I was working full-time and paying my own rent, that would be the best of both. But meh, I guess if my parents couldn't afford it, they wouldn't have offered to pay. But I think most people do get a certain amount of help from their parents. £6000/year - possibly not!
  22. The thing is that in the FS section, a lot people seem to have trouble sticking to the current rules - I.e say what you're selling and stick a price up, plus pictures would be nice. If you introduce compulsory pictures and keywords etc, people won't have a clue. Also I'm not quite sure that pictures instead of topic titles is a good idea - I think it would take more time to work out what's being sold. The good thing about the filtering system is that it works like the normal forum, so people who prefer it as it is can carry on. But those who want to filter bits out can do so too.
  23. Yeah I always wondered how many people must know the identity of the Stig. I mean, surely all the celebs for "star in a reasonably priced car" must have spoken to him face-to-face? I'm surprised they've managed to keep it a secret for so long. If it IS this Ben Collins guy, does that mean they need to get a new one now he's no longer anonymous? And what colour would he be?! P.S. Anyone even seen the film Death Race 2000? There's a driver who only wears black in that, and when he dies in a huge accident, they just replace him. I reckon that must be where top gear got the idea.
