It's weird how people get serious injuries riding trials - it always seems to happen on the smallest things. Like Dave from ThinkBikes dislocating his knee ( ) stepping off a 2ft wall, and this. The worse-looking bail I ever saw was when Damon snapped a chain going for a drop-gap off the top of a 10ft container thing, and yet he got away without even a scratch. N.B. There are different degrees of tears though - from just a small tear requiring no treatment to complete rupture of the tendon, so I'd be inclined to believe your doctor, not some guy on TF (Sorry Simps!). Anyway, get well soon

Prices Marked Up As 0.00 On A Website, But In Stock?
Tomm replied to Nuke Bowel's topic in Chit Chat
Technically that's not true. If they accept your sale and send you an email confirmation, then by law they have "agreed" to the sale, and the item is yours for that price. In the real world, the shop will just be in contact and tell you tough luck. And remember - if you threaten to sue people on the internet you look like a douche. -
You guys are all on a TRIALS forum, and you're convincing the guy to buy a frigging phone instead instead of a bike? What a rubbish way to welcome the guy. Get the bike, obviously

You're not the only one

The time difference here makes late-night win easy.

I validated him. NMC is to stop spammers, to stop people registering multiple accounts and to stop f**ktards that can't be bothered to write legible posts. Jackibrap is none of those things. I can't say that this guy has irritated me, but of course validation can be easily revoked. And when you get de-validated for annoying people, it's much harder to get re-validated. (Just ask Callum here). So if Jackibrap is sensible he won't cause trouble in the big boys' area

That's pretty cool, I guess that's a big deal. Danny Mac for UK Sports Person of the Year!

I'm not convinced they have that many features for the money they cost. You can get three cheap Nokias for that price...
-
Phew! I was beginning to feel guilty for sending you back here, but I'll sleep well now. Whilst I have your attention, Callum, please stop using the report button to snitch on your friends/co-riders.

Yes, you need an angle grinder. Google it. They're roughly £15 for a cheap one from a tool shop, but you might be able to get one for less, I'm not sure. As for the tubes - I used 20" tubes in my 24" wheels for a while, you just stretch them to fit

Nah, this was a while ago. It's definitely dry now. In fact it still kinda works, but the connector thing on the bottom is f**ked, so it won't charge or work with the headset. If you use a fresh battery then it works OK.

I dunno, I've bought a couple of bikes (one BMX, one MTB) over the internet in the past few years, and they've both come with ridiculous little bells.
-
My 810i took quite a lot of abuse but failed on the (unintended) "drop it in a pint" test

That sucks but when these things happen I always think the guy with the bike must have said something to piss off the cop. I mean most police are just normal people and they'll get pissed off when someone starts mouthing off at them. If he was doing nothing other than riding with a bike with no bell, and it was a first offense, then yeah, it's really harsh.

Clive Leeson does something funny with the hub to make it fit the Leeson. I think he lathes some custom dropout pieces for the 360 dropout thingy. Certainly when I got my frame, I had to send the hub to Clive to get him to make it fit, but I don't think he did anything to the hub itself - just the dropouts on the frame. I know I had a HD axle at the time, but I think he will do it for both HD and normal axles. So in conclusion - it's complicated because Leeson do everything bespoke and it could be either a normal or HD axle. If you can take the wheel out and take a picture of the non-driveside end of the hub, someone should be able to tell you. Or you could ask the guy you bought the bike from? Also it's worth bearing in mind that you might have trouble getting another hub to fit your frame if the dropouts are made specifically for the Chris King.

You can use the angry thread. Or just suffer in silence, I really don't care

I don't think I've ever had a conversation with a hairdresser lasting more than 3 minutes. There's literally nothing in common. And if you start a conversation then stop, it's always pretty awkward for the rest of the time you're there. Might as well just be antisocial from the start. I should say that this is only for hairdressers - I'm not an antisocial b*****d to everyone. I haven't actually paid for a haircut for a while, I just do it myself.

Just get an old Nokia, those things are indestructable. I mean one of the really old ones - maybe a colour screen if you're really posh but certainly nothing clever like cameras/bluetooth/MP3 players etc. Mine has a torch on it! Oh, and the battery lasts about 2 weeks which is kind of refreshing when I'm used to my iPhone's battery lasting a day. But I guess most people want their phone to do other things these days. http://www.nokia.co.uk/A4405749

I'm not sure - I thought it was only body fluid contact (not airborne spread) which is why it wasn't as contagious as influenza. But your story goes against that so I don't really know. Maybe the chimps passed the time by playing ookie mouth across the room
-
If you claim it's your mum driving (Oh sorry, your "friend"'s mum ) and they've got a photo which proves you were lying then you're likely to get in a lot more trouble. Perverting the course of justice etc which is a criminal offense rather than a driving one. Good luck, and if they don't have a picture then you'll probably be ok, but it's risky.

Uh, pass. At the moment the brief is to treat it exactly the same as normal flu - if people have severe symptoms then treat them with the anti-virals and send a sample of H1N1 testing. If patients have just come back from Mexico they get some special isolation but I think that's mostly really. On the other hand, this thing is in its infancy so we're still not sure what's going to happen. Normal flu is pretty contagious (which is why it has spread so fast) but fairly harmless compared to a lot of other viruses. Imagine something as contagious as flu and as serious as ebola - the result could be super contagious and super deadly. I don't know how likely that is, but it's a remote possibility and would lead to millions of deaths if it actually happens. So however unlikely such a thing is, you gotta be cautious when there are so many lives potentially at stake. Besides, if something is possible, it will happen one day, for sure. It might not be this time, but maybe the next big flu outbreak will kill thousands of people. It's happened in the past, and it'll happen again, just a matter of when - whether it's in our lifetime or not I have no idea. A woman died in Canada the other day, probably from H1N1. She was 39, previously healthy and had no contact with anyone who'd been to Mexico. That was kinda worrying - if it can happen to her then it can happen to anyone. So, er, I'm not sure is the answer. In the meantime, keep washing your hands and not touching your eyes/face/mouth, and press elevator buttons with your knuckle not your fingertip

I tell you what the response is - Go see your GP (which they seemingly never do) or go to the Emergency Department. Right now in Vancouver the Emergency is just full of people with colds, it's really pretty annoying.

What with all the craziness of the past few weeks, Danny Mac's spinny shit and countless boring TGS videos, it was really refreshing to see a good old-fashioned* trials video, with local riders hitting up the streets and just riding everything in sight. Good work. *Obviously there's nothing old-fashioned about the standard of riding!
