  1. Well let's not get ahead of ourselves. The Big Bang is still a theory - it's very likely that it happened and it's generally accepted in the science world, but to say we've proved it is inaccurate. It's supported by all the evidence we have at the moment, but it also relies on a few assumptions. I'm sure the wikipedia page can tell you more about that. Some people still dispute it though - if the Big Bang theory is correct, it implies a state of 'nothingness' before it, which is difficult philosophically. Some people have argued that everything that begins to exist has a cause. Ergo if you believe in a Big Bang, you should believe that the universe had a cause. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalam_cosmological_argument My old Physics teacher put it like this: There was once a god, who exploded himself. That was the Big Bang. He intended that to be a bit facetious I'm sure, but I always thought it was a pretty succinct way to explain things. You need to question your faith in science some time
  2. Question: Why do people try to convince Christians that there is no God? Do you really think it will work? I've seen a lot of internet discussions about this subject, and not once has any of the Christians turned round and said "You know what, you're Right! Thank you for showing me the truth!" It just never happens. It's like discussing which colour is best or whether JarJar Binks was a good addition to the Star Wars franchise. With that in mind, why even bother? All that happens is that the argument becomes more heated, and each side becomes more resolute and digs their heels in deeper. I can't think of any reason to keep fighting a battle you know it's impossible to win? Also whenever I read these topics, I always come away with the impression that the Christians come across better. There's no name-calling, no insulting other people's intelligence, just (usually) pretty humble replies. I'm not a psychologist but I wonder what kind of insecurity forces the Atheist team to feel the need to prove their opinion. Reading the replies in this thread there's almost a mob mentality of the atheists ganging up on the Christians (Let's face it, the Christians are a minority on this forum!). Just a couple of observations. For the record, I don't believe in God. Call it Agnosia.

    World Of Warcraft

Let's divide that by the number of hours invested to give an hourly rate then...!
  4. That's the most bizarre and disturbing post I think I've ever seen on here (and yes, I have seen the infamous fatpants n00dz).
  5. A frame that lasts only 6 days has serious problems. But whatever, the craziest thing about this thread is how Damon is sponsored - I wouldn't go near him if I was a bike manufacturer. So Mr Marino has sent out two frames (presumably at great expense) and Damon rips him off by immediately selling one, and then to take the piss even more he posts pictures of the broken prototype. That's just a staggering display of stupidity mixed with cuntishness.
  6. Yeah, no offense meant, I was a bit over the top there. I've got SLXs on my mountain bike - I reckon they would be awesome on a trials bike (super powerful, super reliable, nice lever feel), but I've not actually tried. The XTs are basically the same power but slightly nicer / lighter calipers plus bite point adjustment. Not really worth the extra IMO - the feel /power of the brake is identical.
  7. He means that it had all the hallmarks of a TGS video: stupid over-the-top editing super-long bails section with no bails that were actually interesting to watch unnecessary grungey feel in parts of the video pointless irrelevant bits (radio towers, swans? wtf) but the riding was actually pretty good.
  8. I don't. I just don't get it at all. I've seen a few people with the same stickers stuck on their snowboard. I mean wtf has a computer company got to do with your bike? I don't stick Dell stickers all over my bikes?! Having got that little rant off my chest, I'll say the bike looks awesome - I love that colour.
  9. Yeah, I was going to post this. It's a hygiene thing and also apparently there is something unique about the foreskin - there's evidence that it has a high proportion of certain receptors that the HIV virus attaches to. Apparently quite a lot of homosexual men get a circumcism for this reason.
  10. Is Pashley26 a complete tool? There you go. Truth.
  11. Enjoyed that, boy got skills
  12. I bet it wasn't as exciting as you thought?
  13. Nice video, although I would have preferred to see more skids. Pro: The Helmet cam seems to work better than most I've seen - you can tell what's going which is always nice. Con: It kept slipping down over the course of the video, but I guess that's because it's chest-mounted rather than head mounted? Pro: The trail centre looks nice and fast in places. Con: Is it a bit... Samey? I want to arrange an XC ride though Adam!
  14. Who's the black private dick who's a sex machine to all the chicks?
  15. I know it's all automatic, and that's the source of the problem. When you "checkout" at an online store, you have formed a contract with them for the sale. The contract comes into effect at this time, exactly like it does when you "checkout" at a shop. Crucially this has nothing to do with when the shop takes payment, that's apparently not important. So even if this process is automated, technically a contract has been formed so the seller is legally obliged to fulfill it. Some shops have something written into the T&Cs for this eventuality. Have a read if you're really interested. http://www.lctjournal.washington.edu/vol1/a002groebner.html
  16. Punch yourself to happiness! This whole topic is stupid, by the way.
  17. No, the thread isn't in reverse direction on the left side. If you were to run LHD, you'd unscrew the sprocket. It's designed so you can take the wheel out and flip it over to change gear, or to change from freewheel to fixed.
  18. It depends what for. For my GCSEs and A-levels I didn't do very much - I knew what I needed to cover, and I did it. I'm sure some people would have to put in more hours though, some less, it's quite a personal thing so I don't think you can take too much advice from people on here. On the other hand, I've just had my finals at uni though, and yes, I did revise for well over a month in advance. That was 6 years of work though so I wasn't going to risk failing that! I would be pissed off if I failed exams because I didn't revise enough though. For the sake of a few extra days reading books instead of playing xbox, it's fairly stupid to run the risk of failing exams. Although I would advise never to revise instead of getting a good night's sleep. If you're awake and alert, you'll do well. Ha, that's an interesting way to convince yourself you've done enough revising.
  19. Yes, I agree. Benji, please can you (like everyone else) have ONE topic in this forum about Tribalzine. Any more topics like this are going to be deleted from now on.

    Injury Advice

There's not really any good evidence to say that it works or doesn't work. The consensus is that it may help a bit, plus it's fairly safe to take. The only problem is that it's pretty expensive, but there aren't any other options as far as I know. P.S. There are a hundred different types of Glucosamine on the market, with varying doses and wildly varying prices. Just get the one that works out cheapest.
  21. I used to be a freefaller, but sometimes when I sleep like that I dislocate my shoulder and wake up with a dead arm So I've trained myself to change how I sleep and now I'm a yearner. I wonder if your personality dictates your sleep pattern, or vice versa. Maybe I've become more cynical as a result of changing how I lie
  22. I sort of agree, but there are limits. Someone who doesn't even know what tools he needs is unlikely to be able to build a good wheel that will last. I started off learning how to straighten wheels. Once you're comfortable with that, you can move on to lacing (pretty straightforward) and tensioning (difficult to get right). If you just try and dive in and build your own with no experience then you're gonna run into problems and it'll work out more expensive in the long-term.
  23. Pure Gold. JackC123 - I didn't know you were formerly JackChinnery - Having two accounts is against the rules, you know? I can't help thinking this will have a negative effect on your chances of validation. But hey, at least you won the argument about who's been around longer. Everyone else - STFU too.
