I had a mk3 Leon for 6 months in 2011 and absolutely loved it, great car. I had the eco petrol engined one, 1.2 turbo or something, but it was as nippy as a 1.9 diesel as I remember (I had the Leon 3 years after the 1.9 Golf).

Yeah don't forget to take a big bag of flour each time so you can find the wet bits...

What Xmas Present Have You Bought Yourself This Year?
Tony Harrison replied to isitafox's topic in Chit Chat
I was going to buy myself an underwater camera housing for scuba diving but I spent so much on myself in the last two months I don't think I deserve it anymore!! -

Lol, that old chestnut. Delete the phone number and move on to the next one. -
Mine started life like this... http://blog.motorcycle.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/011613-2013-honda-crf-250m-3.jpg I actually bought it more or less as it is above. I saw it for sale a year ago but it got sold before I had time to go and see it. The first owner is really into custom bikes and he had it tuned up for more power, fitted most of the accessories. The guy who I bought it off had the graphics done (there's a local supplier, costs about £60 for the set I think). The wheels of course had to come apart to have the rims anodized but the shop didn't charge for the labour since I'd ordered about £400 of stuff through them.

I wanted something a bit more practical (and two bikes wasn't enough) so I bought a Honda CRF250M super motard. For good measure I had the local shop order me a set of 250L enduro wheels, which I then had anodized gold and fitted out with some Pirelli MT-21 tyres, so now with a 10 minute wheel swap I have city and off-road riding covered. The bike is pretty fun actually - they sometimes get a bad rep for being underpowered but this one has had an aftermarket fuel controller and exhaust system and it's quick enough for me right now.

The Martins and Hans Rey made trials entertaining, they made it fun and 'cool' - enough that many of us older members here were attracted to the sport because of it. I'd say that the closest we have to them these days are these guys here and Akrigg. This is creative, it's different, it's accessible. I thought the video was great - a bit long for my liking but that's not a complaint.

I had some nice company cars, then I got stung by a tax bill because my employers somehow forgot to tell HMRC that I had a car until several years later. If you're paying tax on it, make sure it's coming out of your pay so you don't get a nasty surprise! Great cars, the Golfs. I had a 1.9TDi back in 2008 and it was lovely to drive.

It could mean you're on track to become nice reliable friend, which you most definitely don't want to be.

Is this some kind of arranged marriage thing going on?

I've been there, many of us have. It's f'cking shit but it gets better, and then one day you're with someone else and you can hardly even remember being upset about the last one. Then it happens all over again... -
New project time... a 1986 or 87 Honda NSR250R. It's in pretty poor shape, isn't running properly, needs lots of work. It was interesting to ride what is, effectively, a two-stroke racing bike, and amazing how different it is in engine performance to my modern and non-standard CRF250 (which has the same engine as a CBR250). I daresay that in a straight line this would leave the CRF for dead. So far I've torn off the nasty cheap plastic fairing (it's a Chinese aftermarket one for a later model), got the carbs off too. I'm not convinced the 'RC' exhaust valves are working properly and I won't be surprised if there's a ton of muck in the carbs. I'm trying to avoid dropping the engine out and splitting the cases but everything else needs an overhaul, brakes, forks, wheels etc.

I've had something similar now and then recently, where just as I'm dropping off I suddenly twitch and wake up...

Yeah doesn't really compare to jumping of a landing craft on D-Day does it...
-
Who the f'ck would even be seen outside of a comp wearing it, regardless of the bike?

I've used airbnb a fair bit, definitely recommend. Also I think I stayed in a hotel by the Old Steine once for about £50. Was a bit tatty but it was within stumbling distance of most amenities.

Disappointed for Rossi, but what a phenomenal ride. That was really something else.
-
You're right, and reviewing the footage it makes it pretty clear that Marquez shoved Rossi first - you can see his leg being pushed in. I'm routing for Rossi anyway...
-
Rossi engineered the situation - going wide like that was a d'ck move.

Yep, only way to be sure is to wait until dead.

Got bored of people saying they'd 'definitely given up this time' and then they'd be smoking with a year or two, or wheeling out some shite excuse like 'only one or two when I'm drinking'.
-
I don't think anyone's truly quit smoking until they reach the end of their life having not smoked again.

Halls of residence? I remember mine had some prize bell cheeses in residence.

They involve a set of weighing scales and a modestly equipped kitchen.
