The zoo bar and stem would be one of the best alternative combos IMO- it'll be a tiny bit lower than the monty setup, but still fine. Ive got a zoo stem and a monty stem, and put them on a table held solidly next to eachother with the steerer-clamps flat to the surface, and the rise on my zoo stem is 5mm higher (pretty much nothing- certainly not noticable), they are exactly the same horizontal length. I ran a zoo stem and a pair of onza carbon risers (much lower than the monty high-rise bars, perhaps a bit lower than the zoo bars), and they were great on my monty, so they should go fine. Danny Foster seems to like his that he is running on his monty 221.

1450...!!??? Surely not... Are you sure you have got the measurement right, centre of axle to centre of axles? Have you got any pics?

Rolling "wheelie hop-style" about 9, best ever 9.5 Static from backwheel about 7.5 or 8
-
I think most modern frames should be able to take them. Out of the 3 mod frames that I have had, all of them could take 47mm rims fine.
-
What codec do i need to watch that? Cos neither of the videos in that folder shown an actual video, just sound (Y)

Cool vid, cool riding, excellent soundtrack, but whats up with the trackies nowadays? Are they that much more comfy to ride in? Lol at 1:35 "townie!" But yeh, you are obviousy improving! Keep it up.

Go for it, you can always buy a secondhand profile wheel for less than £125 secondhand anyway, let alone getting a free onza wheel too!
-
You said that the problem is that you can't shorten your chain to be much shorter than the python, like I mentioned, and said your stays are 360mm long. But I was refferring to the CLS python, which your stays are 15mm shorter than. So you can, in that case!
-
Thats what I mean- I meant the python CLS- 360mm stays being like 15mm shorter than those on a CLS python. Doesnt Lee Buchanan ride a Yao Zhi python? Im probably wrong, but I thought he did- they are the short version, which might, or might not have a bash plate- I cant remember for sure if it does.

Really cool video, nice spinny stuff and style from matt especially. You should make more vids. P.s. liking the avatar, monkey island is oldskoooool
-
Yeh, you are supposed to anyway according to the rules. The only thing (other than the price and bashplate) that is better on the Zona though IMO is the length of the dropouts- you can shorten your chain if you want, so it has shorter stays than the python (which are IMO a tad long).
-
Gu! U know u want one! Lol. But yeh, the zona is a bit heavier than the zoo, however, as has been said before, you dont really notice it when riding- I came from a very lightweight 221 to the zona, and it didnt feel much heavier while riding.

Hmmm, technical advice from the proffessionals at both Selectbikes and Tartybikes. Id go for the sledge hammer and screwdriver, and smack it CAREFULLY, with the combined useage of the odd slither of crusty jizz lube. Hope it helps, Regards, Scott

Id say the equation should be something like: Fear = (26inch /19 inch)^2 x (Distance) x (Distance of stem from nearest testicle (incase you bail)) x (TF Height of rail) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Years riding)^2 x (number of rail gaps already successfully done- (number of rail gaps previously bailed x extent of injuries already incurred))^2 (thats menna be a fraction by the way, the dotted lines across the screen)

Its not the width of the tyre, its the size of the wheel that I mean. Im sure its not scary when you are experienced enough, like waynio is, because you already have the confidence and know you have the accuracy to back it but when you are staring out and going to attempt your first rail gaps, hop to backwheel and are about to go for that gap, on a mod it is slightly like "ermmm, am I going to make this?", whereas on a stock there isnt as much fear of overshooting, etc.

A terrabyte? (Y) Thats gunna be one f***-off porn collection u'll get together. -
I have gone from stock to mod, and I TOTALLY agree with JT. It is not "blind" at all. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I think doing rails on a mod is just soo much more scary to LEARN in the first place. Think about it- imagine gapping to a pinhead with a pinchead as a rear wheel- in your head you would be afraid of going over the rail a bit too much, or hitting it that bit too low and going to bashguard. However, if you had a barrel for a rear wheel and are gapping to a pinhead, there's no shadow of a doubt in your head that you won't make it, unless u under-gap! Obviously thats a greatly exaggetared comparaison, but its definately how a lot of other mod riders and myself feel about doing rail gaps on a mod. Im sure its just getting over the fear- perhaps doing rail gaps on a stock first would get you over this fear, as you are used to making the gaps and feel it is easy, then doing it on a mod would be less scary. Also, I personally think dropoffs are a little more scary on a mod, I feel stocks roll off the edge a bit less sketchily, but that doesnt seem to be much of a big deal. Ideally, I would ride a 24" comp bike with high BB- best of both worlds!
-
That looks the sexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx I dunno why more 26" riders hadnt got one as soon as they came out, I probably would have if I was a stock rider.

The tip i picked up from MBUK, that seems to work great, is to ride around with the brake on as hard as you can, so it gets really hot, then, with the brake still on as solidly as you can JUST ABOUT manage to force the pedalstrokes though, pedal to your garden hose and spray your red hot disk, so it hisses a lot etc. It seems to instalty make a trialsy grabby front disk from my experience, and if you want even more grab and power, do the process again!
-
Totally, it still makes me cringe with the bunnyhop over the wall to looping out on the curb. Wow, a post from a trialsking... I feel honoured, they are the guys who got me into trials. Legends in their own right
-
I voted Gu, but I actually like the monty 221 ti equally as much- both should be awesome frames.
-
that would be awesome, cant wait to see. lol
-
Yeh, they really are, aren't they! It would be cool if you made a vid, definately different and v cool! Ive been training my gf's cat to become pro at trials, and tricking- it can do backflips sometimes, 360 hops, getting good at gap jumps considering its only a little kitten (ive trained it to do a gap of about 4 feet between sofas, which is huge considering its miniscule size, only a bit bigger than my hand really), and it can already "hook" about as high as I can backwheel. Thats damn cool. Got any other pics to show its size? I hate spiders too btw, they are for weirdos.
-
I sorta thought that in a way, too. The coustilliers in a way dont seem so mysterious as they used to be on their coustillier frames, and although going big, I dunno, somethings not quite as impressive.
-
Nice video, I was wondering what that frame was too, looked sorta like a copy of the older zoo python (04?). Did you used to ride a really long stock frame with very high BB, that I think also came from that factory? Or am I getting mixed up with someone else?
