Learn to 360 spin first. Just do a 180 spin, but try to keep the front wheel up (e.g. 180 spin, kept to backwheel). Then all you need to do is getting used to putting as much power as your body can into that twist, but after the first 180, kind of "fall back" on yourself. Once you can 360 spin, youre basically there- you just need to do it fast, and put a hop in ;)
  2. Both are great, however Im not sure the carbons are worth the extra (even though I run carbon risers myself). Also, I find my onza carbon risers a bit low- they have EXACTLY the same rise as the onza carbon flat bars I had previously, and personally I prefer higher rise bars, but on a lower stem, as it feels better IMO, and gives slightly more clearance to move around the cockpit. However, if you can get the onzas cheap under warranty, you would be silly not to get them.
  3. Ahh right.. Thats interesting, I wonder what the argument was about?
  4. Is it just me, or is their website down?
  5. Thats exactly where mine broke, its very common on the 2004 frames. However, did you run a profile, or very thick snail cams? As using those seems to almost garauntee the frame will eventually break there
  6. When I used to do downhill, I almost swapped my bike for a Metal Mulisha team rider's Intense M1 (Chico's bike?). Shame he pulled out though, but Im glad I got into trials instead.
  7. zhibike.com, zoobike.com... Tell me youre joking! Bet Granpa Deng musta lost some hair over that one.. Unless his new "Zhi" make is also under the Deng Corporation? You never know, by the rate of things lately Id take a guess at him having a 5 Year Plan to take over the world.
  8. The only 24" I have seen that I thought was truely stunning was the one I saw Matt Staples riding at the nbr comp, it was beautiful. From what I remember it seemed a very low frame for a 24, say 8", 1060-1070 wheelbase as a guess, with higher BB (say 30mm rise). That thing is gunna be the sex when it comes out, looked really inspirational

    Hub Broke

Thatll be the cue for everybody to go out and check their profile hubs now. I would have thought Todge's would be down to two reasons- building a stock rim onto the hub would put a lot more stress onto it because of the leverage of the forces being further out- it should aso experience more force than a regular stock hub, too, because the flanges would be closer together..? Also, with less of the heavy duty bolts screwed into each end, and a wider with, theres gunna be more flex put through the hub shell. Weird that hulltrialser's profile has busted in the same way though, I take it you were running it on a mod? Hadnt heard of any breaking like that
  10. 12:18 (most common mod gearing) is the same as 16:24, not 18:24! So perhaps it would be better to get a 16t cog on your profile if you want to run it with a 24t front cog? However, what cranks are you running with the ACS? Why dont you just take the ACS off of those and put a screw-on cog onto them? Thats what I have done, as with most profile users it seems. EDIT: Ohhh, I think I read your post wrong... when you say you are currently running a 18t ACS, did you mean on the rear? If so, just get a profile with 16t or 18t cog, or whatever suits your fancy.
  11. I totally agree, there is very little point in posting your bike pics in that thread, because NOONE would look at them and post comments about it. If they did post comments, it would become sooo long and muddled up with comments of the hundreds of different bikes that it would be uncomprehendeable what the posts are about. As for it bumping to the front of an otherwise useful forum, why dont you just look down the page and click on the topics that DO interest you, like you would have done anyway. To be fair, if a video topic that you would have wanted to see has gone onto the second page, it is due to a lack of posts within the last couple of days, showing that it has not acheieved much interest in that time.
  12. Good riding for how long you have been riding, you seem to have the right skills. One thing I noticed that stuck out to me was that you look like you dont put enough power in, particularly in gaps, but you dont look weak, so just give everything a bit more beans and itll show
  13. Great vid, with some pretty ballsy lines in there too! Was that a handsomedog in there too?
  14. $2 towards charity.. thats even worse than I remembered! Thats really shameful that they use it as advertisement for CK, as a means of making them look like a well-meaning charitable company. Obviously they are only interested in maximum profit. $2 is near enough £1 per £200 hub, in that case.
  15. Im running a project for my A-level physics that involves testing the braking performance and properties of different manufacturer's pads on a smooth rim, and will be writing off to all the different manufacturers soon, to get random sample pads of thier different compounds, prototype materials, etc (at the moment, the only competitors would be Magura Blacks, kool stops, and koxx bloxx browns, and some other pads that dont fare particularly well on a smooth rim, but soon to be more!). I also run a smooth front rim, and I d be willing to test pads after the project that way too . I may well be posting the results of the project on here if anyone is interested. If you are interested, PM me. Cheers, Scott
  16. When I checked this pink Chris King stuff out about a year ago, I seem to remember being disgusted at how little money actually goes towards Breast Cancer charities. I think its something pathetic, like $5 for each hub, and when you are advertising something to look like you paying £200 for a hub will partially be going to a very needy cause, £2.60 going towards charity (if it was $5, I cant really remember) is really disgusting IMO.
  17. Wow, didnt notice the mod.. nice on Giant! No doubt they will be excellent quality and value, but also very light, as could be expected from a manufacturer so large and successful as Giant.
  18. Alu, 1060, 25mm BB rise :)
  19. Looked pretty amasing when I first saw it, but for some reason the more I see it, the easier and more possible it looks... hmmmm
  20. Very nice indeed, he almost made that vinco look like it could be manualled... nahhh

    Fatty R's

I think from memory, they are 400mm? Run whatever brake works for you- how much do you want to spend? Do you want ultimate simplicity, reliability, modulation, instant lock, lowest weight, or what?
  22. Just to let you know, Ive got firefox and it works great for me..
  23. 10kg perhaps? Id guess 23lbs average? My monty 221 with custom spec weighed about 19lbs- very light, but my new zona is a fair bit heavier, although to be honest Im finding it hasnt really made any difference while riding, just stronger+cheaper!
  24. Look at the poll, it speaks for itself >_<. Skate shoes all the way! Has anyone tried Inopia (or whatever the name is- the ones on Tartybikes that are on offer)?

    D*ck Ed Gap!

Yeh, I realised 10 feet isnt that big for a rolling gap when I was messing about at the nbr comp setting gaps up- I could 3-pedal about 9 1/2 on my mod, but soo many other people were breezing it. I think it was wither Jamie Pedrosa or Bucky came in and bunnyhop gapped around 16 feet in the end, a few times, sooo casually. As did Matt Staples on his 24". Chai impressed me a lot too, that guy is pure elastic. He seemed to be attempting the 16-foot gap through pedal-gapping >_< only got around 12 foot as a guess though, but still, was crazy big!
