  1. Surely if you snap the chain while gapping with one of these it is much more dangerous, as you will land with no rear brake...? Seeing as you have to apply backwrds pressure on the drivechain for the brake system to work?
  2. Is anyone going to Southampton or Warwick?
  3. Wow this is my first post in chit-chat, ive never even looked on this sub-forum before. Anyway I got Maths/further maths- A Physics- A English- C :( Happy with the maths and phys, but bit annoyed with english. But yeh I feel the same as that other guy, I strangely never get hyped up or emotional about my results, I even worked today and forgot it was results day! Im more chuffed about my after-work sidehops though :)
  4. Zoos, Heatsink Honigs (£6 a set!) or Konigs seem to be your best bet perhaps. I had a bad experience with Rimjam Blues, but hopefully their newly prototyped ones should be better
  5. Yeh i used that stuff but have found I can get away with it more lately. Besides I can only take it just before I go to sleep, because if I take it during the day, I found it makes ur burps stink and taste fishy... I dont wanna put the gf off.. :(
  6. Crazy. Best trials video Ive seen in a while. So what are you static gapping and sidehopping these days, TRA? Id be interested to know... :">
  7. Jeesus Christ! I knew bongo was good, but some of that was insane. Im loving a lot of the frontwheel stuff in particular, especially the spins. Keep it up!
  8. You beat me to it. I was going to say they look like DDG Shooter forks to me, although all of the above probably come out of the same factory before being shipped off to their different companies.
  9. Preload is everything. Basically to preload more means you crouch down lower just before the gap and in an instant spring your weight up and forwards as high/far as you can stretch. Its sort of like compressing yourself like a spring and launching yourself over the greatest distance/amount of movement you can do. Hope that helps, Scott
  10. I think it looks really great :P
  11. Wow, getting a bit excited now I read about who may be possibly coming.. Id love to see the martins and others who first got me into trials, itll be a fun day. Have you made the 50 yet Andy? Also, are people having a piss up in the evening at a certain place or not?
  12. Ohhh I see, I might try that then. Will I be able to use my current xlite stem plug then? As surely any tension from it pulling the stem securely down the steerer would be lop-sided, and only on the top part of the slope of the stem? Any more suggestions for other low stems appreciated
  13. So.. What is it? I want something higher than my zoo stem (and preferably a little longer if possible). The monty stem would be fine, but I just dont want to cut my steerer at an angle, and I dont think you can get non-sloped ones, can you? Cheers, Scott
  14. Cool, cheers guys. So which are the ones people would reccomend? Montys? Any cheap but good ones out there?
  15. I have heard people before saying that the echo and onza stems have the same rise, but I dont think they do, the onza stem seems a lot higher to me, so Id rather someone just took a measurement of an actual Viz stem if thats ok. Cheers though, and I'll check out that stem for sale Scott
  16. Hi, I've just broken one of my chain tensioners, the type with the nut and bolt that you get with the t-pro. Ive noticed a lot of people use "snail cams"- are they any good? Also, how do they work? Ive read a couple of descriptions but to be honest I still dont have a clue how they work of where they go.. I ride a monty 221 '04, there are two lil holes drilled in the frame, one on each side, next to the rear dropout- does this mean I can use them? Also, finally, what ones would people reccomend I use bearing in mind I have no idea what I'm looking for. Cheers, Scott
  17. Nobody has a viz stem? If you do please help... :shifty: Cheers, Scott
  18. Could someone please measure following for me: If you were to say put the stem on a table, holding the headtube end flat to the table, what is the HORIZONTAL length between the middle of the steerer and bar clamps? Also, in the same position, what is the VERTICAL rise from the table (or horizontal plane from the bottom of the steerer clamp) to the centre of the bar clamp? Would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, Scott
  19. lmao, its funny if you leave it on repeat. Meh, poor guy, he seemed to fall quite bad actually..

    Yaozhi Vid

The other guy seemed to make everything that Yaozhi didnt't, with some nice hooks, apart from the sidehops, which he obviously was insane at. Those sidehops were huuuuge near the end!
  21. I have used a couple of diamond cutting disks (for cutting stone types, so I guess it may be called a stone cutting disk also) that came with my angle grinder but found they make a fairly smooth grind generally compared to a metal cutting disk I purchased the other day, which I have just this minute grinded my rim with. I prefer metal cutting out of the ones I used by some way, but Tart's grind seemed to work reasonably well, and I think that was with stone cutting disk.
  22. Yeh, I heard that those ES2s were even shorter than that.. But then my giant was menna be 1030 and was actually 1050. My current wheelbase of my latest bike is 985 though and riding amasingly! :(
  23. Definately, thats what I think too. But I'm only talking about the top-level monty 221, which is £535 for the frame. Reportedly for quite a long time after they were on production, none were broken for ages, despite almost all amasing top spanish riders using them! My one's chainstays were totally hammered by the time I bought it, but it still seems fine strength-wise.
  24. I got a 221, and I would say its the best overall performer in my opinion. It manuals very nicely, gaps very nicely, sidehops very nicely (after all, the sidehop world record is from benito when he used to ride one), is light (my bike with fairly heavy spec is 20lbs- i think if I wanted I could easily get it down to 18lbs), and as for what was said above about it being weak, I would say it is aactually strong. Other than that I would say the koxx XTP is the nicest riding bike (apart from street involving manuals!), but they dont have the greatest reputation for strength, a bit crap for a £700 (i heard) frame.
  25. Its been said before, but with quality cranks like middleburns you WONT have any problems with square taper as long as the bolts are kept tight. I just done mine up incredibly tight in the first place (using a pipe on the end of the allen key) and havent needed to have them tightened at all since I put them on several months ago. I doubt whatever people on this forum say there is honestly much difference in stiffness to be had by going for the much more expensive (and IMO less reliable/predictable) ISIS. Square tapers plenty stiff enough, go for it!
