  1. Nope, no mistake. I only paid the £10 membership. I didn't realise there was another one but i'll go with the excuse of "i was thinking of reducing my effect on deforestation" Cheers barbara.
  2. While i remember, boumsong got a load of forms through the post with his scoring and the next event details etc. I've never had anything like that through the post.... Just curious if i missed filing in a bit of my form or something when i signed up. Cheers.
  3. Some of the spots in sheffield look pretty good. Gonna try and convince boumsong that we need to visit in the next few weeks for a bit of a session. Are there many places to ride? I saw around 5 on google and they looked good.

That would be steve and boumsong. Camera made hermances gap look a little small, it was huge in real life.

Well i had enough left over clips from number 7 to make this one tonight as well. Riding was around loughborough, leicester and buthiers.

That's the one bigman was too lazy to walk up from. It was mint yeah. Like matlock, only scarier and with random bits of water/swamp between some of the rocks.

    Thrashed 7

Been 2-3 years since the last thrashed video so i thought i'd use up some of the clips i had. Didn't quite realise how many i had though so i tried using the earliest first. These are from earlier this year and the rest will be in another video shortly. Please excuse the dirty, blurry wide angle lens. It didn't fit my camera and was attached with tape. New clips will be with a much nicer, cleaner lens.
  10. Mark did, he said the ACS was probably a looser fit and to use some grease.
  11. Saw an advert in game for a console and black ops for £99 today. Prices are starting to get low enough to just replace it outright, especially if it's an older machine with a history of faults. That said, checking with the repair shop is free. They may try and wriggle out of any blame though so be persistent with them.
  12. That would be awesome! You've gotta remember to make sure your computer is up to the chalenge as wel though, as HD editing really gives pc's a work out. Dual core for 720p and quad for 1080p.

    Tee Vees!

If it's under 40" then 720p will be fine. I've got a 40" and when watching a film the difference between 1080 and 720 is fairly small unless your watching it in fullscreen (1.78:1). If your using it as a computer monitor then i guess it could kind of justify the extra resolution of 1080p but having used a 32" 756 line monitor as a pc it looked okay from 3-4 feet back. A higher hz rate than the source or set are capable of is actually using a bit of clever trickery to add in missing frames based on a combination of two subsequent frames and making a halfway version of them and sliding it in between. Kind of similarly to interlacing. This can often lead to random image problems and things like moving objects sometimes get a halo around the trailing edge because of it. LCD and LED-LCD use the same panels. It's just the backlighting that is different, with the biggest significance being space saving on the account of LED backlighting taking up less room. Some side lit LED tv's can suffer from bright spots, so it's worth checking reviews for a particular model on avforums before you buy. As said above go to a local store and check the models out. Try the tv's with all the "features" turned off and remember that the tv's always look very different under the stores lighting than they will do at home. Another good general rule of thumb is samsung and LG for LCD and Panasonic and Philips for plasma.
  14. That was my biggest gripe to be fair. Sure, not everyone can afford the latest HD camera/editing suite but 10 seconds with a rag or even the bottom of your t-shirt really wouldn't hurt. Aside from that, pretty monstrous as usual.
  15. Wouldn't that fall under self preservation? They're pretty exposed on the sand. Mind you, knowing the sea is safer has got to be instinctual.
  16. Wouldn't eating, self preservation and sex all be instinctual?
  17. They're the same explanation with different wording.
  18. So then, if observing something is being taught, is learning in itself, instinctual?
  19. I think it's mostly circumstantial. For the most part i'm more of a problem solver, though instinct plays no part in this (think you have the wrong idea of instinct), merely creativity, tenacity and a little bit of common sense. That said, there are times when i want to see for sure something will work before i'll accept it (maths equations, scientific theory etc). Although both scenarios are inherently different in that one is a physical task and the other is an academic theory.
  20. To be honest, i see that as a prime example for keeping the senior member idea. You're actively being a positive and helpful member of the community and you've got something positive to work towards. As a knock on effect this'll get you out to more comps and rides which is a great thing. If you see me at any of them be sure to say hi!
  21. I don't see a point to this thread. Are we meant to contribute or was it more of a blanket statement?
  22. You got any links to the videos with shadows you mention? It could be many things, an improperly set up camera, poor lighting, faulty encoding codec or even your own pc's codecs misrepresenting the image on your screen. I think for 300 pounds the features are mostly the same. Most camcorders do 1080i, 720p and 480p, with a range of bitrate settings. Some will also do 1080p, this is technically better, but for internet riding videos 720p and 1080i are fine at the minute. I'd rather have a camera that can do 720p well than one that shoves 1080p in for some more specsheet awesomeness. The other thing is the feel of the camera. Nip down to your local currys/dixons etc and have a look at the models in action. Look at the menu's, get a feel for the zoom buttons etc. Make sure it's something you can work with and that will feel comfortable in your hands. It might also be worth looking at reviews for the bundled software and how easy it is to get access to the footage and which editing programs will use your filetype. Most will do AVCHD which is pretty much standard and works in premiere (the on i use) and i think vegas and final cut pro can use it rather painlessly too. Battery life, storage space and even things like remote control, mounting options, sound options, storage type (SD card, hard rive etc) should be looked at.
  23. They're a symbol of dedication and respect in that the senior members have all been long standing and helpful members of the community. It gives other members something to aspire to, in that with the right mindset and persona they can reach the same status one day and have access to behind the scenes on the forum as well as a couple of other little perks. It's also good to have a small group of people as beta testers for different aspects of the forum. There isn't really enough moderators to get massively varied feedback but at the same time, no more moderators are really needed for moderating duties around the forum. A senior member group is good to have in order to discuss extra things without every keyboard happy imbecile posting either a load of crap or their own immature opinion. Some of the things to be discussed simply won't affect the rest of the forum or the change is something they won't notice, so their opinion is irrelevant anyway. In essence i think what i'm trying to say is it's nice to have a small group of people that are trusted and that can give honest and valid opinions to matters that us moderators and the admin are unsure on a certain decision and would like a select amount of usable input.
  24. I know because it's me you probably won't want them, but i have these clips on the pc that i can extract the audio from if you want? Both locations seem to enhance the noise due to buildings/quarry walls which make it even more pronounced? They're in 720p on youtube so marginally better quality.
